Title: Anyone else pick up Metriod: Zero Mission?
Post by: Living-In-Clip on February 11, 2004, 10:57:57 PM
Has anyone else picked up the brilliant remake of Metriod, called Metriod: Zero Mission? I got it today and I must say, I\'m addicted.

Of course I picked it up.  It\'s metroid for crying out loud.  It\'s also awesome.

I thought Fusion was merely okay, after my fanboy\'ness wore off. I had a lot of issues with the fact Fusion guided you the whole way. It felt so, so, not-Metriod. This one though, I am having such a blast doing everything out of order.

I disagree with you there.  The fact that the game was more story oriented (and in turn held your hand through a lot of the mission) was something of a blessing as, at the time, I was getting all I wanted with exploration and discovery through the likes of Metroid Prime -- and although I know YOU hated it, I loved that game as well.  The two perfectly complemented eachother and I personally loved Fusion more because of its story.  This game balances both quite nicely and it\'s a joy because of it.  Notice the awesome music in Norfair and Kraid?  Good stuff.  Don\'t forget the awesome graphics -- Samus leaves trails when she spin jumps like Alucard in SotN -- so awesome!

I beat MZM yesterday with 60% completion at 4 hours and 1 minute time.  Hell of a game.  The twist at the end is amazing.  It very well could have been a solid game on its own with those merits.

So is it a remake of the original or not?

I thought it was a new title.

I haven\'t played it yet, but it\'s supposed to be a highly revised remake of the first game.

Think MGS:TS, or RE:Remake. Am I right, guys? A remake with a lot of new stuff?

You\'ll beat it in probably less time then I did.  Regardless though, the game is worth every penny.  It\'s definitely awesome.  Yes, Eik, the game is a remake of Metroid on the NES, but the game also has a MASSIVE amount of upgrades for the game too.  Each one better then the last.  The game definitely surpasses the greatness that is Metroid Fusion.

LiC, that part of the game was absolutely awesome.  It could have been a full on single player sidestory all on its own.  I\'ve already come up with a name for it too -- Metroid - The Training Bra Years.

I don\'t know, man. I was cussing quite abit when I would set off the alarms. However, I also enjoyed it quite abit. Unexpected and fun, if not somewhat frustrating.  I however was dissapointed with how easy the last boss was (Meta-Ripley). Infact, none of the bosses was actually hard and the only one milding frustrating was Mother-Brain and only due to the fact there was a zillion things going on at once.

Just wait till you play it on hard.  I promise, the difficulty ramps up greatly then.  Everything takes MUCH more damage, missile upgrades are now 2 instead of, and super missiles upgrades are now 1 instead of 2.  Believe me, it\'s MUCH harder.
