Did you stay at a hotel? They usually have the "normal" type.

I can testify to the horribleness of this German toilet design.  They don\'t have them everywhere in Germany, maybe only 30% - 40% of the installed toilets are like this.  It amazes me that they have such a variation in toilet designs... I mean, in N. America we seem to have settled on one basic design.  The only variations you see are in the mechanicals in the tank.

I was so frustrated by these toilets, I wrote the following description in a temporary journal back in 1990:

Note: you have to PULL the knob on top to get it to flush.  How idiotic is that?

Lived in Germany for three years... Never saw one like that. I like loud and powerful toilets where I can take ridiculously large craps and not worry about the toilet clogging.

Yeah, big toliets are the greatest.

The kind you can stuff you shitty underwear are the best.

Its a long story, but I had to take a huge dump, and had the runs. So I just let that sucker swim.

How old were you, and were you living on an Army base?  That might explain why you didn\'t see one.

i stayed with a good friend when i went.

i can say i probably saw hundreds of toilets in various restaraunts, clubs, houses, public swimming pools, etc...

never saw one like that

Hah ha  ha... maybe the percentage is lower than 30% :)

Or maybe the Germans are getting smarter and not putting them in public places anymore.  The one I described was in a school.

Eh we had similar toilets when we lived in the US. I remember sometimes you almost dipped your ass in the water when you were taking a dump.

Did you happen to forget to put the toilet seat down? Thats only happened to me once when I was like 3.

I lived there from 12-14 years old... We were stationed at an Air Force base but we lived in a German home off base.

Haha, my dad tried one of those when he was on vacation in Austria. He got his own poop on his bottocks... eew! Incredibly stupid design. :laughing:
