Here are just a few key points in my platform:
- No unnecessary thread closures. I will have no vendettas, no bitterness, and no favoritism.
- I\'m located on the WEST coast of North America, so I can put a stop to WAREZ peddlers and forum spammers long after the Easterners and Europeans have gone to sleep.
- New and interesting threads! I\'ll actually post some of these thread ideas that have been kicking around my head.
- I promise to post more of my vast collection of Asian softcore and Idol images, and some Cosplay stuff that will blow you away. (Work safe, of course)

I can\'t decide between Kurt and Cord. Both are funny and the complete opposite of mm\'s stoic and snobbish demeanor. Kurt could handle OT during British hours, I can watch it during the East Coast (US) hours, Cord\'s got the West Coast time. I guess one Aussie can handle the Asiatic hours until Kurt wakes up. :p

Here\'s my schpeel:
First off, the mere thought of me being a moderator is laughable at best. Let\'s face it, I\'m not moderator material, despite being around for awhile, popularity as a member, and hefty post count. Perhaps my biggest flaw is my past which I admit was embarassing, however nothing I really have to be ashamed of. Sure I made some threads that I regretted creating, but thats what makes this forum so great, are those exact threads that particular members would rather have stored far away.
So I was thinking, should I give this a shot? Well if I did I would list my reasons I could be a moderator, and everybody would only roll their eyes and just smirk at arrogance. Although I wouldn\'t mind the spot, to be quite honest, I wouldn\'t do anything with it. I wouldn\'t close threads, delete posts, or pretty much do anything.
Point is, I\'ve been browsing various forums for over seven years now and I have come to learn that no matter what the forum, there are always the same members that fulfill the available stereotypes. My style of posting, does not reflect one that of a moderator... In addition, I would probably feel obligated to set an example, and would be afraid people would expect more from me, and I do not feel comfortable adjusting my posts just to match a title...
So let me tell you where I\'m going with all of this... Give the moderator spot to the guy most deserving on these entire boards...

In my opinion he is the most valuable member and smartest member (Don\'t say Bossieman, that guy is a loon) these boards have to offer. He would make the ideal moderator as he is extremely unbiased, fair, and he\'s a great guy. I\'ve been priviledged to have known him and have him to someone to talk to when I was too discouraged to talk to anybody that is in the realms of my life here in Las Vegas. I\'ve got a lot of respect for the guy, and I believe he would make an awesome OT moderator.
So if for some odd reason you were pulling for me, or did want to vote for me, I highly suggest you write in shockwaves for off-topic moderator, the only one out of all candidates who deserves the spot. Oh and screw timezones, this guy never sleeps, he will be around no matter what the time.

I wouldn\'t say the only one but one of the most deserving. I\'m also glad that atleast a handful know how to have fun even though somehow being "boring".

As for voting for me, I figure I\'ll lay down my platform, and why you should vote for me as well :)
- First of all, west coast? pfft. Give me a break. Time is no issue, I am routinely up later than everyone on the west coast part of my buddy list.
- As for how I look at members, I never take any grudges out of an individual thread. I mean, I\'m someone who will go and agree with people like Clowd if they happen to post something good. I have defended religious topics that were bashed despite being an atheist. I have always tried to be fair to everyone just as a member, so of course I\'d do the same as a mod.
- As for topic closures, I probably won\'t close things unnecesarily. I\'m the type that thinks for the most part a topic should be closed it\'s a repeat, if it\'s against the rules, or if it\'s really starting some sort of flame war. Besides that, it\'s usually cool here.
- I\'m always available and friendly to contact, by PM, AIM, e-mail, or what ever sorta method you wanna use.

- I\'ve not only modded and adminned at forums like this before, but I actually have done so at forums owned by Bjorn before. So I know what I\'m doing.
So, um, mark the shockwaves box on your ballot. rock.

Well, I was writing my platform up, then Di posted. Di, you rock. If you\'re really sure about that decision, then thank you :). I personally think you would have done fine. You know I got respect for you as well, and I think had you given it a shot, you woulda been a good mod. But thank you for the support, it definitely means a lot.

First, allow me to respond to my opponent\'s claims.
1. Don\'t assume that I am an early sleeper. It\'s now after midnight PST, which is 3am in the East, and I won\'t be going to sleep for another 1-2 hours. At best that is a dead heat between me and Shockwaves.
2. I am fair and reasonable. I know the meaning of the word compromise. I am a natural mediator, both at work and in my personal life. I have supported unpopular members of this forum when they were being unreasonably attacked, and I will continue to do so when the situation calls for it.
3. As I\'ve said, I will be very reluctant to close threads or delete information. I\'m a librarian, so I believe in retaining information to form a clear record of what has transpired. I never edit my posts to change history, and I won\'t edit yours either. I do sometimes correct my spelling, but that\'s a virtue!
4. I long ago implemented a system of forwarding email between my mail accounts that allows me to check my email constantly throughout the day, even while at work. I will be there when a crisis occurs!
5. I rarely take vacations, so I won\'t disappear for weeks at a time like SOME people I could mention. Samwise Just kidding sammy thanks for your support. :)

I have been a regular here for over 3 years now. In that time I have seen people come and people go, I have also got to know many people as lots of them are daily visitors like me. Most people know that I am an easy going type of guy, in fact I don\'t think I have argued with anybody here.
In my time here I believe I have learned what it takes to be a good moderator, such as not locking/deleting threads without good reason and knowing where to draw the line with links and pictures (porn,warez) etc.
Being in the UK means that I am 5 hours ahead in time difference between the UK and the US east coast. This could possibly be an advantage especially when the american mods are tucked up in bed. I would be able to moderate during this "lapse in moderating" time.
I am not the type of person that generally posts in the debate/ religious threads but I am willing to read these threads for moderating purposes and do my job if it is deemed necessary.
What else can I say......
Oh yes I like nice pictures of ladies as much as the next guy and I hope you enjoyed viewing them. At the end of the day it is down to the wonderful members of psx2central to decide who the want to win.

And you\'re right, you aren\'t the type to generally post in debate threads, religious threads, and basically serious threads in general. You\'re \'willing to read them for moderating purposes\', but how long does that last? Are you really going to log on every day and look through threads that don\'t interest you?
I post in all sorts of threads. There aren\'t any specific types that I\'m not interested in, and I tend to read all the threads anyway. So I don\'t have to change anything in that respect. There aren\'t threads I have to start reading that I didn\'t before, which means I\'m less likely to get bored by that part of the job. I will continue to read all the threads in off topic, and easily be able to do my job where necessary in any of them.
When you have to change who you are to adequately do a job, that says something. It says that perhaps you aren\'t the most fit person for it in the first place. And considering that these are the types of threads that generally are most likely to spiral out of control, that\'s a big area to not be used to looking at. Even if you do start looking at them now, you won\'t have a good feel for how they go, for what makes things get destructive in them, and because of this won\'t be able to as easily moderate them. Thanks for making that point for me :)

As I see it, the problem is that there are no really strong deficiencies or strengths separating the three candidates in this group (since Vapor dropped out at least :)) That is the reason for all the girlie pictures. I figured that if no intense arguments or campaign posturing was needed, then we might as well offer some entertainment.
I think both Kurt Angle and Shockwaves would make great moderators. I would vote for either of you if I were not running. However, I don\'t think either of you would do a better job than I would.
In my real world job I work with a team of 14 people spread all over the US. We communicate by email, and through a weekly teleconference. There are the normal frictions, grudges, and dramas that go along with 14 unique personalities, and I often find myself in the role of mediator between them. Others in my group have told me that I am the only person in our group that is liked and respected by everyone. I\'m not sure why that is, but I think it might be because I make an effort to see both sides of the situation and to "understand before making myself understood." That is a phrase I have lived by for many years. I think these qualities would lend themselves to the job of forum moderating.
I read every thread in OT, even the boring ones just to get a gist of what\'s happening. I do not post in the religious threads because I\'ve been around long enough to know that you cannot change people\'s minds on subjects like that. I also don\'t feel the desire to change minds. I just read it for entertainment.
Given the responsibilities of a moderator however, I would definitely view all posts with a more critical eye. Utterly unnecessary spam posts, that offer no value of any kind would be viewed with great suspicion by me. I would still hesitate before penalizing the offender, but only long enough to determine that the pattern was repeating and causing a problem for other posters of substance.
Posts of warez links, pr0n links, images of extreme violence or nudity, or extremely harsh language would receive a lightning fast response from me. For example, there was a thread posted by QuDDus in this very forum today that has a vulgar two word phrase that would have been censored in any major media channel. If I were a mod, I would have edited the subject, yet one or more mods posted in that thread without even mentioning it. I\'m not against harsh language in the real world, but here we must protect the forum from lawsuits by self righteous parents. We need to use a little more caution with our language from time to time.
Please vote for me. In short, a vote for me is a vote for integrity and accountability.

I\'d also like to mention one practice that I will definitely implement and encourage as a moderator:
If I should ever need to close a thread (which will be very rarely), I will ALWAYS make a final post in the thread indicating who closed it and why. I\'ve noticed this has not always happened here at PSX2Central. I will accept full responsibility for all my actions, and make sure that other posters know what behavior is not acceptable.

I completely agree with the practice of saying you closed the thread and why. I always did the same thing myself when I was a mod, and then an administrator at other forums. Once again, those forums were the ones on n64cc.com, a site also owned by bjorn, run the same way, with similar members. So I know what it\'s like to be a staff member on a message board such as this one, and I think the various people here that went to that board (ROL Jamas, Fayded, etc.) can tell you I was always fair there.
I do not hold grudges on messages boards, and I have always also acted as a mediator myself in appropriate situations. I have helped to run another website and message board that was actively posted at, which members like Fayded and unfocused went to, and I think they can tell you that that worked out well too. Whenever anyone had a problem, I always wanted them to come to me, and encouraged them to do so. I was always fair, and always available. And I am the same way here.
Perhaps the member that I have gotten the most frustrated with in various threads has been alliswell/Clowd. However, I never let that affect how I posted around him. A good example of this is in this thread (http://www.psx2central.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=30526), where even though it was Clowd starting a relgious thread, when I saw nothing wrong with what he was doing, I didn\'t jump all over him like a lot of other members did, and actually defended him because he had done nothing wrong in that situation. That is the way I would like to mod. I wouldn\'t judge people based on their histories or on what might happen, just on what they actually do in that individual topic. That\'s the way I try to be as a member, and it would carry over into me being a moderator.
As for looking at things with a more critical eye, I personally wouldn\'t. If something doesn\'t bother me as a normal member, why should I look at it differently as a mod? I would consider doing something about posts that seriously bother me, be it by spam or flaming or something inappropriate, just as a normal member. Why would you change yours standards just because of a different position? Both Cored and Kurt have mentioned changing the way they look at things as mods, but I have found that is the exact wrong way to look at things. Don\'t change the way you look at posts, and definitely don\'t change how you post. Being a mod doesn\'t define you. You\'re nominated because you\'ve been a good poster here, so why would you change anything? Just help to make sure the forums run smoothly. That\'s all that you need to do. If that requires a change, then maybe you\'re looking at things wrong.
And I do like the idea of other members asking us questions clips. If you have any, please, fire away.

I think you\'re scrounging for a wedge issue that doesn\'t exist. The difference between witnessing abuses as a normal member and witnessing them as a moderator is simply a difference of responsibility. I\'m not going to change my beliefs or my standards once I become a moderator.
As a member I called attention to unnecessary personal attacks, spamming, and other abuses. As a moderator I would have the responsibility to go a step further and take action when appropriate. That is the difference. Not a difference of beliefs, but of activity and responsibility. Lets not get hung up on tiny details and semantics.

i have a question this relates to a closing of a thread by a mod...recently i went deep into the archives to bring up the subject of fifaseriessan i think his name was..anyway i was trying to keep the thread on the main page in an attemp to see if this guy was going come back(long story short he lied about some pics he posted with him & some chic).
so anyway the thread got closed for me bringing the thread back to rag on the member that left..when clearly that wasn\'t the case i was just hoping that if the thread stayed up long enough this guy would come back...Now i don\'t have nothing against 00seven..oops did i just reveal the mods name?;) cause i wasn\'t mad or anything i just want to know would you have closed that thread?
i know this question is kind of lame but it\'s almost time for me to get off work and i\'m wrapping things up! also it\'s not like i can ask you how can you guys balance the budget ;)

I would just say that in general, I consider closing threads to be a very drastic measure that is rarely necessary. If someone believes that you erred by resurrecting a thread for the sole purpose of making fun of a former member, then let them add a post to the thread stating that. If others agree, then you become the target of ridicule, and the problem is effectively solved. I don\'t like the idea of using thread closures as a punative measure, such as saying "I\'m right and you\'re wrong... thus, thread closed."
I would need to look at that thread to give you a definitive answer on that particular situation, but in general, I think closing threads reduces the flow of information, and leaving them open increases it. I\'m for increasing the flow of discourse and debate.

As for the question on closing threads, I guess it depends to me. If a thread is being kept on the main page by a single member only for the reason of keeping it on the front page, and other members are expressing that they don\'t like this, then I might consider closing it. But if people are having fun with it, what\'s the harm?
And I didn\'t know there would be another section for this later Ashford. What exactly is happening here? When does this section end and other stuff start? When does voting start? I really have no idea what\'s happening.

I seem to remember a while back that some people were complaining how little action there was in the main forum. That is true to some extent as many members only come here for the OT forum. I don\'t know if anyone has noticed but I try to post information in the main forum as often as I can in the way of game information, screenshots, news etc. Admittedly some of the games I post about are not the most exiting, but at least it gives people something new to read and comment about. I consider posting things in the main forum quite important as that is what essentially attracts new members here in the first place. Attracting new members is always important imo for a site such as this so I consider myself a valid contributor to the site in general.
A little something else I would like to add is that this site has been great for me from a personal point of view. There has been times when I have felt quite low and depressed and quite frankly coming to this site does cheer me up and help me to forget other things in life. As this site helps me is such ways it would be an honour for me to help give back to the site and being a moderator would give me the satisfaction in knowing that I am helping to keep the site in order.
In reply to clips, I would probably have closed that thread as it seem that he has not been back to the site since. I am sure that if he does retun someone will most likely make a new thread on the matter anyway and link to that tread in some way. :p
Shockwaves I can see your point in regards to my not posting in the debates and religious topics but I still do read the threads, and more often than not they do tend to on occasion contain spam posts and posts that start flamming other members. Even though I don\'t contribute to these threads, I can\'t see how it will affect my ability to moderate them.
As to closing other threads I would only do so if it was a noobie blatanly posting links advertising, sites for wares or porn links or sites that had been ruined by people spamming. many posts that ruin what would had been otherwise good threads would result in inividual posts getting deleted. I consider LIC a good moderator in this respect.
There has been lost of instances there I have here looking at new members on the site an actively tracking their movements. The was an instance about a month ago where a noobie was spamming every forum with a link that contained a virus. I actully clicked the link and make a point of posting wherever he did to warn people not to click the link as it contained a virus and tell the guy to quit being a moron. The guy was banned eventually. Had I been a mod I would have acted quicky to remove his link and lock the threads to stop other people getting infected.
As far as the other candidates go I cannot say anything negative about either of you in any way at all. I respect you both too much for that and would both make excellect moderators for this site. This group was always going to be a very tough group for me and to even get this far by people nominating me in the first place in very flattering.
I would ask other members to make their choice on who would be the best choice for the good of the site, afterall the site is the most imortant thing. We all want the same thing at the end of the day, a fun place to come to that will attract new people and make existing member want to stay.

aw..you guys are going to make this decision tough for all of us. Since ashford stated questions will be done at a later time. I agree with everyone else as what is exactly supposed to be happening,..if we are are questioning the candidates i guess all they can do is create campaign slogans until vid decides otherwise.

In my opinion, no the site does not have lasting power as it is. Maybe when the PS3 comes out, we\'ll get some new members, but at this rate, we are not getting new members, but we are losing old members.

well everytime i go to the main page it always states welcome our newest member joe blow etc..i felt that the site was getting new members all the time..i know when i was a lurker i notice that there are some members here that i have not seen in a long time bobs-hardware is the only one off the top of my head but i\'m sure there are others.
hopefully what you say will ring true when the new system launches..i\'d hate to see this site go down with such a fine group of members here. :(
