We all know the media has a label of being liberal, but the vast majority of funding comes from conservative sources. So do you think they lean conservative or liberal?
-
Conservative!!!!
Yes, conservative enough that it deserves not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR exclaimation points!
-
I have truly never heard someone call the media conservative.
-
Couldn\'t be any more liberal..
-
Well, I honestly believe it to be very conservative. I could post why, with examples, if you want. Prolly will tomorrow. It\'s too late for me to have the presence of mind to do so right now though.
-
I think it depends on the network. For example, FOX = conservative. CNN, liberal.
-
Its outward liberal.Everything can be used as information.Even things that werent acceptable in the past. But its inward conservative.Whatever we are shown isnt shown in its pure form.Sometimes we are being told lies by showing us a half truth, a manipulated truth. There is misinformation in freely distributed information.
There are countless ways to present a fact.
-
Overall the media is liberal but on some issues it takes a conservative slant.
-
I Think it varies depending on the network and the topic...

What alternate universe are you living in? Besides Fox News (which is relatively new) name another news channel that takes a conservative slant on issues. Certainly none of the 3 major networks do and as for the print media - the left leaning newspapers far outnumber the right leaning ones.

the "media" isnt either
they want money, and will exploit anyone and anything to get it

How does this explain its neither?

I believe that while reporting on a topic, Fox news has a conservative slant while the other networks take a more liberal one. I think its the topics they chose to report on that make them all conservative. There are so many topics not reported on in this country that you do hear about in other countries. Things are downplayed that shouldn\'t be, and there is just a bias they give you as to what\'s going on in the world.
An example...in my home town during the war in Iraq, there was a peace demonstration, and a support our troops demonstration that happened at the same time to oppose eachother. The peace demonstration had about twice the number of people, and yet when they were reported on, all the networks talked exclusively about the support our troops demonstration and said the numbers were approximately equal, something that was very much not true. This is true for most all demonstrations on all major american networks. They aren\'t reported on and they are downplayed when they are critical of the government. The same thing can be seen in a lot of other areas. Many mistakes and corrupt actions of the US government simply aren\'t reported on, unless they really turn into some sort of large scandal.
Another example is in radio. During the war, Clear Channel released a list of songs with anti-war messages that they didn\'t want any of their stations playing. Among these were songs like John Lennon\'s Imagine. That also sounds pretty conservative to me.
Basically, if you look at the topics reported on in this country compared to other countries, you\'ll see there\'s a lot of news you just don\'t get here that you get in most other nations around the world. That\'s why I think our media is conservative.

well lets think about it, who does the media want to cater to, the majority liberal viewing public or the giganticly concervative big companies that pay the bills? Companies like Chrysler that spend 920 million in advertisment, and require to be notified by what ever broadcaster they are paying for ad space, as to what they\'ll be showing. If Chrysler doesn\'t like their stance on subjects and such, they\'ll pull their ads.
Or the Government who through Defense Contractors can get a military columnist fired from the Boston Globe. IMO, the media will do whatever the big money tells them too, and big money is in the pockets of the conservatives
