HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA
http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/SF/7121554

As a Niner fan, that article is just riddled with bad news...
1. I don\'t want Owens. He\'s a great wide reciever, but he\'s cocky, selfish, and his comments about Jeff Garcia were bullcrap. He cried about getting the ball and had so many drops this season it was pathetic. I was so eager to see Brandon Lloyd fill his spot next year, but I guess its another year of drama from Terrell Owens... I just pray the guy matures somewhat and starts thinking "team" instead of "me".
(Ok, I read the article fully, this doesn\'t necessarily mean Owens will be back, which is good)
2. Garrison Hearst was the man. One of the most underrated backs, he was a great guy and had a great comeback story. Then again, I\'m glad to see that Barlow will be our featured back, and that is very exciting.
3. We lost Derrick Deese as well who is a huge piece of that great Niners O-line.
-
had to make a thread about this?
-
Oh well, might as well talk about few NFL offseason notes...
Clinton Portis to go to Washington?
Man that team just keeps trying don\'t they?
-
maybe we\'ll get something for him. Who knows, might get a decent draft pick or a midget transvestite.
-
The 49ers are looking to get rid of jeff garcia contract because they can\'t afford to keep him.
Really sad how the nfl salary cap is. You should be able to spend as much as need to resign your own guys.
I like what the dolphins are doing.

Clinton portis is a great player and he is making piss poor money there. They would rather trade him then pay him.
Very stupid
-
actually, they can afford him but they feel he\'s not worth 10 million a year. If he were a better player they\'d find a way to sign him.
-
Quddus, did you see tim Rattay last year? He\'s cheaper and a hell of a lot better for the 9er\'s future than Garcia is.
The salary cap evens the playing field and makes you have to manage your money better, the best thing that ever happened to football. I\'m sorry if you feel buying a championship is the way to go.

What going after other teams\' 3rd string QB?

OMG!!
The Niners released GARCIA!!!
WTF!!?!

I\'m in shock to say the least... Dangit I hate having a jersey of a player no longer on the team. Time to throw it in the trash.
Dolphins will probably fight like wolves to get Garcia.
It\'s time for a new era....
Tim Rattay
(https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fsportsillustrated.cnn.com%2Ffootball%2Fcollege%2F1999%2Fpreview%2Fconference_previews%2Fnews%2F1999%2F08%2F07%2Findependents%2Frattay.jpg&hash=769f8c93c89db7ea21b84b1fc632260f7a070c23)
P.S. WE LOST RON STONE TOO!?!?! Holy crap our line went from fierce to feeble. I\'m getting worried...
-
The Tim Rattay era?
HA!
-
Rattay will rock, mark my words!
-
I don\'t see how it\'s any worse than the Rex Grossman era :p
-
That\'s the reason why I\'m getting my Niner Jersey personalized!

HOW DARE YOU!!
You heard it here first, Grossman will be at least twice the quarterback Rattay is next season.
-
I doubt that. Biggest reason being that Rattay is surrounded by a much better offense than Grossman.
-
And the fact that Rattay is good and Grossman is a heaping buckett of suck
;)
-
Well I didn\'t want to point out the obvious.
edit: We might lose Streets and Owens, and Hearst is gone... The Niners are going to have an entirely new offense this year, and I\'m pretty excited. Brandon Lloyd is gonna move up and so will Arnaz Battle. I wouldn\'t mind seeing the two both start... The offense is so much younger now.
-
The Niners will be horrid next year. No playoffs, whatsoever.
You heard it here first.

Oops
Accidentally posted, go ahead and delete this. I have nothing to say about one of those westcoast teams.

I won\'t be so quick to judge, there\'s still plenty of offseason. At this point, I agree that they have some gaps to fill.

Hate to say it, but I agree.

Yup, you niners slappys are gonna be real sorry you said those mean things about Sexy Rexy.
-
Hey, I insulted him first, and I hate the Niners :)
-
Just want to clear this up;
Giants suck
Bears suck
and if Vid comes in here, Bucs suck

Keyshawn Johnson is now a Cowboy :)

I was hoping no one would pick MeShawn up and he would have to go to the AFL or CFL. The guy thinks hes Moss or Harrison when in reality hes closer to someone like James Thrash. Maybe just a tad better than Thrash although Thrash can do some KR so, I dunno.
I could name at least 15-20 WRs that are better than MeShawn.
-
I hate that Jevon Kearse got such a huge contract from the Eagles. I just don\'t think he is worth that much money. He is injury prone and can be physically beat. The Pats ran RIGHT at him every time we played them.
When the Eagles give a Top 5 contract to a Top 20 player it drives up the market for DEs that actually deserve the money. Not to mention the fact that the Iggles problem was their offense NOT their defense. Why not drop that money on a top WR?
BTW, How about the Raiduhs landing big Teddy Washington from the Pats? They threw WAY too much money at him too. There is no way Belicheck and Pioli were going to give a $5 million signing bonus and that much money to a guy that old and injury prone(he broke his leg in the same place two years in a row). Still more power to him, you have to cash in as much as you can when you know you have to leave the table soon.
At least Ted Washington makes the Raiduhs a younger team.

Big headed player for a big headed team. Congratulations cowboys!!! Another one for your loser roster.

No team coached by Bill Parcells is ever a loser team.

Bears Defense w/ Washington (2001) - One of the Leagues\' best, made Ulracher look like a first-ballot Hall of Famer, and the team went 13-3.
Bears Defense w/o Washington (since) - Not great. At all. Don\'t even think they\'ve won 13 games combined in the past two years.
Now...will this happen to the Patriots? Doubt it, but hey, it\'s a thought, the man\'s a force in the middle :)
I do agree about the Kearse thing...that came out of left field. He\'s yet to prove that he\'s not an injury riddled talent.
See Yuz.

Yeah he is definately a force to be reckoned with and I can\'t say that losing him makes us a better defense; but stats-wise our defense was just as effective when he was out as when he was in. He was hurt for a nice portion of the season and we saw that we could maintain without him.
As long as the pats get a 4 down back, a #1 WR, and keep Law I\'ll be happy with this off season.
*I\'m crossing my fingers hoping that the Pats can move up in the draft and grab Jackson.*
[EDIT]BTW, The Bears defense was no good WITH Washington in 2002.

That\'s why I said 2001 :-D
Who do the Pats got to replace Washington? I know they got Ty Warren, but who else? Goona use one of those 4 picks in the first 2 rounds to get one, I assume? :-P
See Yuz.

When Ted was out we ran predominately the 4-3 so that might be what we do again. Still we have so many good linebackers that the 3-4 just seems right. (Especially with Rosie Colvin coming back next year.)
There are some rumors that we might grab the big Nose Tackle from Hawaii in the draft(I can\'t remember his name) or maybe even the big DT from Colorado.
-
f*ck, the Niners only got a 51st pick out of T.O. I really thought they could have done better. The Ravens might be pretty good if they can keep Lewis out of Jail, and Owens from pissing everyone off.

You guys are idiots. Immediatly he had an impact on the team! Their W-L record basically switched and their defense was dominant.

By all accounts, the Niners got lucky to get that high of a pick. They made it very obvious they wanted nothing to do with Owens, and Owens made it clear he didn\'t want to be in San Fran. They weren\'t goona keep him, yet they had him under contract...nobody was goona offer up a 1st round pick if they knew that the Niners had no other options.
Even after that, the Niners basically get a free pick. If Owens fills out the proper paperwork, the Niners get nothing at all. Basically, it\'s a gift, we\'ll see what the Niners do with it.
See Yuz.

Hahahaha! Terrell Owens thought Garcia sucked, he\'s gonna have to bring extra boxes of kleenex when he has to depend on Kyle Boller to get him the rock.
Good riddance. Guy destroys all team chemistry. I guess the final piece of the puzzle is solved.
Now we better draft a top CB.
-
He won\'t mess with chemistry their, Ray Lewis will slap his bitch ass down.
-
Or stab him with a knife.
-
If TO get\'s too out of hand, Ray might make him play "Young White Girl in Kobe\'s Room"

One thing that I\'ve grown to have faith in, being an Eagles fan since Reid got here...thoguh I don\'t agree with some of his playcalling, he\'s great with personnell. If Kearse stays healthy (and clearly, the Eagles believe he will), he\'s going to be a force, that\'s a fact. Of course the Eagles need help at WR. Is Tai Streets available? That\'s a possiblity...if not, there are some good WR\'s coming up in this years draft, and I believe the Eagles have the 28th pick. Seriously...if the Eagles address the WR position appropriately, resign Emmons and either Vincent or Taylor...we\'re in excellent shape.
-
Tai Streets is good, but he is no more talented than Pinkston or Thrash was...
I thought Owens was going to go to Philly actually...
-
i\'m not so sure about keyshawn..yes he\'s good but i feel galloway was just as good as well and i didn\'t think there were any problems as far as the receiving corp was concerned..we need a running back..and a quarterback..with keyshawn comin\' in alot of the plays will revolve around him.
and what happens when he\'s not getting the ball? throw another tantrum like terril owens? Galloway stayed with dallas through thick & thin and it\'s a shame they\'re letting him go.
-
I don\'t see TO causing too much drama here in Baltimore, Ray is definately the leader and heart of this team. His first job is to put TO in his place and make him realize this (he probalby already does).
If R. Lewis wasn\'t a Raven then this isn\'t a trade I like, but since he is it\'s great.
WOW http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1751713
the eagles must be pissed
-
49ers are garbage now they lose 3 of their top players. They got nobody. 2round draft pick for a top guy like owens. Man they played themselves.
-
Owens is already complaining. Go figure.

Not really. Why keep Owens around? He has grown to big for himself and doesn\'t play near as good as the old Owens. It\'s sad, but true.
I can\'t believe Garcia is considering going to Cleavand and Couch is being eyed by Dallas. Talk about two surprises. Who in their right mind, espically Dallas would want Couch?
-
I can\'t believe Couch was taken above people like Culpepper.

I would love to see Garcia for the Browns... They\'re my second favorite team, since I am an Ohio native.

Garcia isn\'t that good anyways.

He would be the best quarterback in the AFC North...

He\'s a great QB and Cleavand could be a good team, but in the history of that team, it seems every step forward they take, they take two back. Sad but true.
I\'m really worried about my two teams this year. Both the 9\'ers an Colts are making big changes.
-
Owens has gotten to big for himself but the man if not the top Wr in the league is one of the top 3 wide outs in the NFL. The numbers speak for themselves on the guy he gets the job done. He just has a big mouth.
Sadly for him he is getting played so hard the eagles announce they had no deal on the table for owens reported by espnnews.
The ravens have offered to restructure his contract.
The NFL is one of the toughest sports to play in. And once you hit 30 your cosidered nearly washed up. If I was owens I would try to get as much money and go to the best possible team I could.
If I was him I would rather go to Ravens than Eagles. Looking at the Eagles the last 3 seasons I don\'t see how anyone would jump to go there.
As for Garcia the guy has some talent. I think he just lacks focus. I mean the guy seems to have no balls at all. He is not a leader. He does not seem to have the mental toughnest a QB should have.
Even though I hate the shit out of Tom(all american)Brady the guy
is a great visionary on the field. He has the mental toughness to command and lead a team. I just don\'t see it with Garcia.
-
What is up with Atlanta "talking" with Garcia? They have the best QB in the NFL already, and Garcia is not "backup" material, that would be a huge waste of talent.
-

Why wouldn\'t a player want to go to the Eagles? That is the perfect fit for TO. They\'ve been to the NFC title game three years in a row and been just short each time, mainly because they don\'t have a big play WR. They have a good defense that will give him time to be on the field and ensure they\'re in games, and one of the NFL\'s best QB\'s to throw to him. The past 3 years the Eagles have finished better than the Ravens every year. Plus Owens is one to complain if his QB isn\'t performing...and it\'s pretty clear which one has the better QB.
In addition to that, Philly is a bigger media market than Baltimore, something an attention craving star like Owens would love :)
