So here tuned into USA for the first ten minutes of Dawn? Impressions? I will post later assuming someone else bothered to watch it.
-
Is it going to be on right now? (10 central)
-
yeah prob bladez. It was on around 10:05 est
-
I thought it was a remake they were going to show in theaters?
You are saying it is televised ?
-
Its out in theatres here. Just came out on Firday
-

http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/messageview.php?catid=22&threadid=286472
If you go to the link above, it gives you the cities and dates and addresses of the theaters and the eb games stores. I tried to put the info in here but was too big.
Someone at the other site said you might have to trade in a game or something. Best bet, call EB. Shoot, if you are wanting to get rid of a game (Good Deal)
P.s. sorry for the double post
-
Hope someone sees this since it was merged. Some of the dates,in order to get screening tickets, are this evening.
That\'s why I started a new thread instead of adding to capcom\'s
-
It was a current thread that was still current. Anyone interested in Dawn of the dead was reading the thread already.
-
Lic and I went to watch Dawn. Needless to say the first ten minutes of the movie was the best. From minutes 11 on it progressivly went downhill. I will post more detail later on unless LIC beats me to it.
-
So it was shitty?
-
You could say that. Or you could say it was headache inducing, terrible, dissapointing, waste of time. Well, anything you want to say negative would apply.
-
And to think I was looking forward to it...:(

Bad acting? Check!
Bad editing? Check!
Plot-holes galore? Check!
Lack of scares? Check!
Lack of overall mood? Check!
Seriously though, the first ten mintues that was shown on the USA Network are simply amazing and get you pumped. Then the 11th mintue starts and it only goes downhill from there. No, that\'s not over reacting. You watch the first ten mintues, amazed and then the credits roll and the 11th mintue of the film starts. The only thing the credits serve in this film is to seperate the great part from the rest of the crap.

You are way off, LIC. WAY WAY WAY off. I can\'t believe you support complete SHIT movies, calling them "popcorn flicks," yet you tear up this one like it was Gigli or something. I have no idea what you were expecting out of this. What\'s your idea of a GOOD horror film, so we have some way of evaluating your taste?
This movie does not quite meet the standard of the raw, visceral high energy horror cinema of the 70s, but it only BARELY falls short. This is an awesome horror film, and it genuine ROCKS AND ROLLS. I honestly wonder if you saw the same movie I did.
"Bad acting..." Ving Rhames and Jake Webber are far beyond the typical BULLSHIT hollywood male roles in horror films. They were honest and believable. The other performances were not as impressive, but I don\'t think you could call any of them bad. Please specify which actor was bad.
Editing????? I noticed only one scene that was poorly connected, but that\'s about 10 fewer than in a typical Hollywood horror film.
Plot holes... give me a break. In a story this simple it would be very hard to manufacture a hole, let alone overlook one. There are no holes. Please explain.
I can\'t respond to "Lack of scares" because nothing in motion pictures scares me anymore. Instead of looking for scares, I\'m satisfied if something is just interesting or ballsy. If you insist on being scared, I think your standards are too high. Only babies are scared by Hollywood.
Lack of mood. I don\'t know where to begin with that one. Your expectations must have been astronomical if you expected this to be some brilliant masterpiece of cinematography or suspense, or however you define "mood." It\'s a REMAKE of a great film, it was suppose to be shit. It was a hell of a lot better than I expected.

What are you smoking? What film that is "complete shit" did I endorse? And I\'m sorry, this film was complete crap. The editing was terrible, one mintue they look at the mall, next minute they are smashing through a window. Or how about the fact they interduce around seven characters at once, none of them are developed worth a damn... Or maybe the fact they throw a Propane tank into the zombies, explode it right next to the bus and they are A-OK? What the hell? It was downright terrible.
Plot Holes? How about the fact they go in a parking garage, it\'s filled with zombies. A-OK. Next thing we know they are back in it and working on the damn stupid bus.
This movie didn\'t even try to be a horror film. It didn\' try to do anything \'cept be a stupid, very badly done action movie.
And yes there was bad acting. The lead blonde? Sucked. The black gun that carried a gun? Bad acting.
And the simple fact I can\' name one character in the film is just proof the story and characters was under developed.

I deem this thread:
Worthy of my spam.

They did fudge up the part where they broke into the mall. Other zombies should have gotten through. About the propane explosion, I guess the sheer number of zombies helped buffer the concussion of the explosion. Also, the fuel explosion should have cracked the windshield but it was supported with all that metal in front of it.
Character development? Well, it\'s a zombie flick. I wouldn\'t expect too much in that department.

It was filled with zombies (which they killed off) in a locked garage. Remember they had to crash through the closed garage door?

Again, it\'s a zombie flick. Why are you expecting Lawrence Olivier caliber acting?
-
they gave tom savini a cameo
thats enough for me to recommend it
character development? who needs that when we\'re expecting them to get eaten at any second
oddly enough, it kept me entertained

I never want to hear you lecture about good cinema again. So, what, they gave Tom a cameo? We all know Tom would take a cameo in a Disney film if gave the chance.
And I\'m sorry - I do expect character development in my zombie films. Why? Because Romero delivered it.
This film was a diaster.
-
Seems your the miniority in thinking that LIC.
-
lemme fill you in on something
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0811583/
take a look at that and tell me what you see, or better yet, dont see.
did i say dotd was good cinema? far from it.
character development in zombie films? wtf?
here\'s the character development that should be standard
{enter jane - stage left}
{jane may die at any second}
{jane almost dies}
{jane dies}
-
James Gunn wrote the 04 script, do you know what else he wrote? Scooby Doo, for crying out loud.
And the original Night and Dawn had character development.
You of all people should know this.
-
I haven\'t seen it yet but I hope there is some zombie development.
-
oh, i forgot to menttion. it has johhny cash in the soundtrack, another bonus point
LIC, a character talking about what happened to them earlier is hardly "development"
-
I am just glad to know that if a movie gives Savani a cameo and has Cash in the soundtrack, then it is a entertaining film. Sorry, I don\'t set my standards that low.
;)
And I\'m sorry - but I cared about the characters in the original Dawn, where as in this one, I don\'t know any of their names and I just wished it would end. I would say the Texas Chainsaw Remake was better and it wasn\'t all that good.
-
in case you forgot, this is a remake we\'re talking about
it\'s a whole new set of guidelines.
you\'re arguing over whether or not a film was "entertaining"
-
And it was not entertaining. It\'s that simple.
-
sure it was, i walked into that theatre fully expecting to be dissapointed. yet, i walked out pleasantly suprised.
perhaps if you realized what you were walking in to
-
it is Hollywood of todays version of Dawn of the Dead what were you expecting?
-
Well I wonder how well the House Of 1000 Corpses sequel is gonna do...
-
You couldn\'t pay me to see this movie.
-
Since spoilers were spilled out like a ripped open stomach in Dawn of the Dead, did anyone wonder why zombies only attack humans and not animals?
I would have looked for a mascot to wear and just trotted out of the mall. Hell, a two-person horse mascot would have sufficed....but you can see the comical value when the rear end doesn\'t keep up the the other half. :p
You\'ll see the ass end of a donkey running from zombies while the donkey part is left alone....coz zombies don\'t know any better about two legged donkeys.
-
LIC? Did you put me on your ignore list? HEY YOU! *gives LIC the birdy* :p
-
btw, dotd did 37 million over the weekend and was THE film to bump passion of the christ off the #1 spot
-
Yeah, the Hollywood Reporter said something like "The american public seems to have a fascination with people rising from the grave..." :p
-
After watching House of the Dead (yes, the sega movie) I think I should see this movie to make up for it.
-
Except, I think House of the Dead is slightly more entertaining than Dawn of the Dead 04.
-
Now how is House of the Dead? I heard from ajoh it sucked haha...what about you LIC why\'d you like it?
-
its a sad excuse for a movie
-

I must be on you ignore list. And since you can\'t read this....you suck. :p Yer taste in movies is worse than I thought. You liked House of the Dead better? Or are you just kidding?
-
House of the Dead was so bad it was good.
:)
-
please dont feed the trolls
-
Is it as good as Love Actually?
-
Haven\'t seen either.. Probably won\'t too.
-
Whoa...
Bob lives...

Everybody read how much Maddox thought this movie rocked. (http://maddox.xmission.com/c.cgi?u=dawn_rules)
Man I love Maddox.
I\'ll see this on Friday.
-
but wasn\'t the zombies actually running in this flick? How can that be scary? i mean if it has the right theme atomosphere maybe,..but i just don\'t see it. meh any horror movies that are made today are total crap.
-
Yeah, the zombies in this one run around and even scream.
It sucks ass.
-
Going to see it tonight and am very excited about it.
-
Saw it this afternoon - I found it entertaining. I thought 28 Days Later was better, but then again that one wasn\'t a remake.
Why didn\'t the zombies eat the dog? I could have sworn zombies in the Romero flicks attacked anything that was alive.
I think the zombies running was a bit lame, but an interesting twist - not only are there thousands of them, but you literally can\'t outrun them. I think it gave a bigger feeling of hopelessness than the original.
-
28 Days Later was a damn good movie. You have to keep in mind they wasn\'t zombies in that movie.
-
Doesn\'t that have just a bunch of crazy mofo\'s running around?

Yes and no on the animal eating. In night I do believe there was some animal consumption. The original name was somthing like night of the fleash eaters though. If memory serves me right. In Day they do not try to attack an alligator.
So far as the running goes. One of my favorite lines went somthing like. They move slow, and a response of yeah well they are dead an all messed up. That is nowhere near the quote, but you get the idea, and maybe someone will remember the exact quote. In 28 days they were infected with rage, and not death. I am not sure what they thought they were doing. Other than ripping off 28.
-
I\'ve seen Day of the Dead...didn\'t care too much for it cause they "smarted" up a zombie...lame.
-
Just got back from seeing it and thought it was awesome... I\'m a sucker for zombie movies though.

You know its just a copy of Omega man, right?
-
omega man? with charlton heston?
not even close
-
I saw the original again. They don\'t have that much character development either.
Dawn of the Dead, being in a mall with bright flourescent lighting, will not have the long dark shadows of a small home in the country. Also, black and white film like Night of the Living Dead only enhances the gloom. Maybe that\'s what this second movie lacked. No real shadowy suspense. Its a run and gun horror flick.
Fine enough for me.
-
I still thought the movie was entertaining. My parents couldn\'t believe we asked them to babysit so we could go see it. Apparently the local paper here gave it 1 star - while giving The Passion 5 stars... sorry but if I want entertainment - zombies>Jesus. ;)
-
Man, if I was there, I would have asked Andy to shoot as many zombies as possible. He had nothing else to do anyway. That would have given the buses fewer road bumps to run over.
As for the buses, hell, I would have rigged a catapult on top of the bus and had it thrown as soon as it crashed through the garage door. Less zombies - the better. Also, if anyone got bit - BLAM! No questions asked. :D
I also would have place lawn mower blades up front, back and sides.
-
Yeah if I was Andy - in a nice secure gun store - I would have been capping zombies all day long. Hell he had the bullets! I am sure he could have cleared enough of them out in a few days he probably could have walked over to the mall!
I also noticed that the dead who died from natural wounds didn\'t come back - that was sort of messed up if you ask me. The dead needed to rise regardless of if they were bit or not. Man that fat lady was NASTY!!!! I would have capped her back in the truck. I was just waiting for her to start attacking people.
-

The audience were all murmuring amongst themselved on that one. This was one of those "Oh come on, now! HELLLLLO!" Then that fat woman turns into an olympic flesh eating sprinter and goes for the skinny blond! BWAHAHA! Everyone was roaring with laughter!
And boy, did that shot gun have the loadest click or what?
KA-CLICK!
-
That really leads me to believe that the zombies weren\'t really dead - it is more like a virus that drives them mad and gives them to unstoppable urge to eat people. Obviously rigamortis doesn\'t set in and their physical strength and endurance are multiplied!
I just think the whole dead theme was blown due to the fact that they could run like olympic athletes. It didn\'t ruin it for me, but it was unlike any of the dead films I have seen with the exception of Return of the Night of the Living Dead. Those lame zombies actually talked too.
Now I hear negotiations are going on for a remake of Day of the Dead. I hope they know a chainlink fence isn\'t going to hold back the masses this time. ;)
-
I wonder how the scientist (if they remake Day Of) will be able to control the wild and super fast flesh eater. The old 80\'s movie had the zombie remembering his past and shooting a freaking gun (which adds more difficulty in the next Resident Evil ;) ).
-
Yeah wasn\'t his name Bub? He was actually sort of aware of his former life. They sure as hell won\'t be able to have a stockade and herd them into the laboratory like they did in the original.
-
Damn it!!! Ok someone who saw the movie and watched through the ENTIRE credits please PM me or post here what happened. My wife was anxious to leave so I didn\'t get to see the "ending".

Everything\'s been spoiled from Page 1 anyway.
They\'re on the boat, and the guy kills himself on the peir. Fade to black.
Begin Credits.
You see a video footage of the ass hole who owns the boat with a bodacious babe who takes off her top and tosses it to the camera. Cuts to credits.
You hear the survivors voices say "It\'s his video camera."
the next is from the point of view of the video camera:
Various shots of the boat. Cuts to credits. They see a floating life raft. Empty. Cuts. They get on the life raft. Cuts. They open a tackle box and see a living head of a zombie being eaten by maggots. cuts. They run out of fuel. Engine on fire. Sailing now.
They\'re close to the island. cuts. Empty water bottle but much close to the island. Cuts. Footage of Ving and he yells at the camera "Get that out of my face!" Cuts.
Really close to the peir of the island. Dog jumps on the pier. Cuts. Shouts about "We have to check before we go in." Dog is running into the path up from the pier. Ving checks nearby storage house. Cuts. All survivors are on the pier calling for the dog.
Cuts. Monsters yelling. Zombies running towards pier. Shots fired. Camera falls. faces of zombies in front of camera......
-
Hahaha sort of like House of the Dead!!! LOL thanks for the recap... pisses me off that I didn\'t get to see it.
The reason I found out about it was from another movie forum and this guy who I am quoting is hilarious. He made this post on how DoTD (remake) was really Aliens. Excerpt below:
"I wouldn\'t mind so much the running, although these super-zombies would have logically gotten into the mall as quickly as, well, the cast inexplicably getting into the mall. Further, with their shriek/roars, climbing walls, and generally unearthliness, I submit that these are in fact Aliens. Capitalization intentional, because it takes only a moments consideration to realize that most of the human/zombie conflicts in this movie came right out of "Aliens". The scene where Sarah Polley tosses the little bugger down the hallway, zombie-girl lands on her back, hops up, and skitters back at her? The bald security guard waving the flashlight as the zombies creep toward the keenly aware group of colonial--I mean survivors? The scumbag suit ditching his imperiled crew to save his own ass, only to get nailed by a lone, ooze-dripping zombie. The redneck\'s explosive response to his oncoming demise? That\'s right gang--"DOTD" wasn\'t the only remake you saw in that hour-and-a-half this weekend."

I thought that was one of the stupidest things I ever seen in a zombie flick. Stupid....just stupid
