Read the title. With the tiny PS ONE and Gamecube, I prefer the smaller consoles. The PS2 ain\'t exactly small but it is compared to the Xbox.
I will get an Xbox...but I recall there was some rumor about a smaller version. Is that true or was that just BS? I sure hope it\'s true. Stacking the GC and modded PSone on top of the PS2 is perfect. A smaller Xbox would be nice.
Thank you.

I\'m 99% sure a smaller Xbox will be shown but I can\'t find the solid info now.
-
smaller xbox = xbox2:p

I think it is a little too late in it\'s lifespan to introduce a smaller version.
-
yea, but how old was the ps1 when they released a smaller version kurt

Not really.

Shouldn\'t they Worry about selling the Full size version first ?
After all it is at 3rd Place world wide = 2nd place loser
-
point being made was if it was smaller more people would buy
but i\'m just wasting finger energy because your next post will trash the xbox no matter what
thanks a lot :(

Fable... Jade empire...etc...etc....etc...
*edit*
Gman
From the rumours around it seams like either a PRICE CUT or a Smaller Version of the X box ( and cheaper)….
Will be announced at E3…

Beh ! MS announced Xbox 1.5 a year ago already. It was supposed to be about the same size as PS2, same Xbox shape only without the ridges on either side of the X marking. But I think they canned the plan to spend the recources available on the current Xbox.
The only way, IF at all, "Xbox 1.5" will see day of light is as a budget Xbox when Xbox2 is already launched. Indeed kind of like what the PSone is to the PS2.

OMG WILL THE SMALLER XBOX RUN AT 60 FPS???
-
No smaller version? No Xbox for me then. Space near the TV is at a premium. Thank goodness PS3 will be PS2 and PS1 compatible. Sorta fitting....3 PS consoles in one! Haha! *snort*
Damn that was a pathetic attempt at humor. Ban me for a day. ;)

Hmmm...i think smaller XBOX is difficult for one plain reason...HEAT.
(1) The CPU at 733Mhz is much hotter than say the PS2 CPU, i believe...mine clocks in at 61 degree celcius after some gaming session!!!
(2) The hard disk produce lotsa heat too...less space means more heat are gonna be trapped.
(3) The DVD-ROM and hard disk are more or less off the shelf thingy and you can\'t really reduce the size of those by much.
So i don\'t foresee any smaller XBOX...

oh it\'s more than possible:

Plus now the big "thing" for cooling is massive heatsinks with heatpipes. I could see it happening, it\'s just a matter of clever design; ie- routhing each CPU\'s heatpipes to one big HSF. MS has the money to do it.

What THX said....as well as the small but powerful Gamecube. And a good point about more Xbox would sell if it were smaller and lighter. But the problem is, the components are made by competing companies. Integrating them is probably the biggest (no pun intended) hurdle.

Actually..i prefer the XBOX as it is despite the size...at least I know i can pick up a cheap DVD-ROM and install it if it ever dies on me...unlike the PS2 lens...once it\'s dead, it\'s bye-bye PS2.
