Title: Guitar players
Post by: Halberto on March 22, 2004, 09:10:38 PM: Im thinking about getting a new amp for about $400. I got a schecter omen 6 (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid=040322210706068094058249584070/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/518181/) so I want something that will go nicely with it.

How\'s everyones playin goin? I got 2x better and can play Black Dog and mostly all RATM except for the parts with crazy distortions.

Post by: Coredweller on March 22, 2004, 10:01:01 PM: I haven\'t played around with modern amps in a while. I live in an apartment, so I can\'t really own an amp without pissing off my neighbors.

However, my brother in law is a professional musician, and I\'ve played with his Line 6 amps on a couple occasions. I think he had a "Flextone" of some sort and it was pretty cool. I would give that a try, or the "Spider" http://www.line6.com/products.html?category=1

If I were shopping for an amp, I would go to the biggest guitar store you can find, and try out everything. That is the only way to decide what you like for yourself.

I\'ve dedicated myself to learning every AC/DC song.

He has the 75 watt one though but he didnt have the money to get anything bigger. The effects in it, i think, are the reason they are good but i just like messing with it and you can get a lot of different sounds out of it. http://www.harmony-central.com/ is a good place with reviews.

Oh yea..and iv heard Crate has had some problems so if you\'re thinking of them you might want to think twice. Nice guitar BTW

i want to get better. I think Im an ok guitar player now and I can play solos and shit. Anyways, I know a penatonic (sp?) scale has helped me anyone got any advice on how to get better?

You will get way better than if you just wank away in your bedroom...I knew a guy in high school who wanted me to play bass for him for class night. we were gonna play "cult of personality" by living color...he could play that song note-for-note by himself, burnin\' vernon reid solos and everything...Once the whole band started playing, he couldn\'t play along, he\'d be at his own pace behind or ahead of us...no rhythm. You learn that by playing with other peeps.

My brother, who is a very good guitar, player said to me once that if you\'re not taking the guitar into the bathroom to practice when you\'re taking a crap you\'re not practicing enough.

I have to agree with the people that said Line6. I love line6\'es a hell of a lot. Depending which model you get, you can get some really killer sound.

Ive thought about doing that... and thats about as far as ive gone, haha...

As for guitar playing... ive gotten much better over the last year.. ive been playing for over 3 years now....

I finally got a band put together and i have to say im pretty impressed with how its going....

Lately ive been focusing mostly on writing original stuff

Ill post up some mp3s of our band when we really get rolling... were still in the start up stages for now.

We play punk/rock... its kind of popish which isnt what i want to play really... but I just wanna get up on stage and perform so im happy with just being in a band.

Thats my Guitar. I like it, but ive only had this and a Squire starter.

But i think it is a pretty nice guitar. Ibanez SA160

Anyways, I have a small crappy amp, but i don\'t care. Im not in a band, and ive been practicing for two years teaching myself everything. I just basically make crap up and play around, but it helps a lot with how fast my fingres move. Now quite up to soloing, not because I can\'t use my fingers correctly but mostly because I would suck at the music theory end of it.

but well worth it... one summer i practiced 8 hours a day... and when school got back in i practiced for 4....

Im happy now if I can squeeze in 2.

But quality of practice is much more important that quantity of practice.

When you put the time in you can only get better. I love how I can practice a song and not really get but after awhile it just clicks and you\'re there.
