Title: Dating online
Post by: QuDDus on March 23, 2004, 07:22:27 PM
Well I got 2 friend up at college who seriously live by online dating. I mean they will come back to the dorm turn on the computer and get to chating.

We got a web cam and mic  so they are all on web came talking to girls live on the net.

They are on the computer all day chating and talking live with girls

One of them actually left for the weekend with a girl he did not even know.  I just don\'t get it maybe it has not cought on with me but for them they seem to live by online dating.

And I have seen chicks who seem to be doing it  too. I mean is everyone dating online?

not I, I simply ask a random chick if she wants to spend the weekend on my boat, and that is all I need.

I think its a desperate way to try and hook up. I don\'t believe that you can fall in love with somebody by reading text they send you. Therefore I\'m gonna say that a vast majority of online dating is simply to get teh poony. And we all know that the chicks on those online dating rooms are uglier than sin.

I\'ve kind of done it. I\'ve had cyber sex with a friend (I knew her personally) and we just did it to mess around. We weren\'t "dating" online, just some harmless fun. I would never date online.

Haha, my college roommate met his current girlfriend online.  I enjoy mocking him for that one.

I don\'t do it - but you laugh and mock, however online dating wil only become more and more popular. It\'s a way for people to hook up with people they would never normally get the chance to meet. It\'s also a way for people to meet, get to know each other without taking a risk. Online dating is the future and will become more and more popular.

The only way I\'d date online is if I a) know the person personally (which actually defeats the purpose) or b) if she lives around me. To be honest, I\'m getting to know a girl real well over AIM. I do know her personally though which falls under category a :)

I\'ve dated a girl I met online. I\'m pretty confident that I never would have met her otherwise because we travelled in completely different circles. That was one of my best relationships and we are actually still really good friends.

My cousin and her sister met through us and are actually engaged now.

Online dating=Pathetic if you are dating for serious.

^^^

I see nothing wrong with it.  I don\'t do it but I can see how it\'s a very good way for people to hook up.  I think it\'s one step above putting an ad in the personals for the newspaper.

There are some pretty hot chicks online, it\'s nice to filter out the ones that love nsync and find ones that like similar music and movies, as well as the same pet peeves as you.

You know what is pathetic, the fact that you people are under the impression that any chick online is "uglier than sin", or the fact that if someone meets a dickhead off the \'net, then everyone online is probably a dickhead, etc, etc. You\'re being extremely close minded. Like I said - I don\'t do it, but I can see how it would be extremely helpful...Take for example.

(1) You\'re someone shy and don\'t like asking random chicks at. Go online.

(2) You want to meet people you normally would not have the chance to meet..

(3) You can get to know someone wiot taking a huge risk, etc.

Online dating will become more and more popular.

4 outta 4 dickheads pretty much says to me, its a risky game not worth playing. I\'d prefer to meet people face to face then meet someone online who may not even be who they say they are.

Or it could be that your sister is easy and just like dickheads...literally and not-literally speaking.
:D

j/k

Seriously though, I agree that it is risky, but every form of dating is risky. I just think online dating will only become more and more popular.

Thank you LIC.

I guess im somewhat biased because i have met girls from online and have gotten into a relationship with a couple. It seems so unpersonal but to some degree it actually can. There are only certain things you wouldnt know about a person by talking to them online.

Aftually I have a really good friend in Utah that i met online and ive been talking to her for at least 4 years. That and my current G/F i started talking to online, although a friend of mine and her were schoolmates.

Its really not that stupid if you really think about it. But dating 5 or so people from offline is just kinda overdoing it, that is, if you dont have a life and the only way for you to meet people is off the net. (even so id say get a damn life)

I\'m in no way saying that meeting people online is stupid or gay or whatever. I\'m just saying from my experience its just not worth it.   I personally wouldn\'t do it. But if other people do it, more power to them. :)

I turned a chat room chica into a friend I talked to on the phone at night and stuff. She was kinda cute but she lived far away. South Carolina or something, compared to my Jersey.

After awhile she wanted to come visit but that never came to be and that was just kind of the end of it. She was a sweetheart though.

Based on that experience, I suppose finding someone online is ok, but I\'m sure it\'s just as hard to find a decent person online as it is off, heh.

I\'ve never "dated" online before. But I have met people online. I recently got a letter from a girl that I talked to on a chatroom. She sent me a picture and everything. And believe it or not she isn\'t ugly. I would post the picture but I don\'t have a scanner.

I don\'t think that meeting somebody online is stupid or that it can be a waste of time. One of my friends, Vanessa, met her boyfriend online while we were chatting at school. I told her while we were in class that he is probably fat and ugly. They went to the movies and the guy was really cool. He wasn\'t overweight or anything. They are still together, I think it\'s about 6 months.

Online dating will become more and more popular. There are infinite testimonies from people all over who have met their match online.

I am going to edit my original statement and say that the majority of chicks in dating chatrooms are uglier than sin.

Furthermore, I do agree that it is better than newspaper ads as it is much more convenient. Personally, if I really wanted to date I would use it as an absolute last resort.

There is something to be said about hooking up with people via netcam, people you don\'t know and masturbating for each other.

*Shrugs*

As some of you know I play MOH a lot and come across many players, including females.  I\'ve talked to a few on Teamspeak, here\'s a pic of a friend of our clan named GI Jane:

I think just for fun we should try out something like eharmony or match.com and see if the majority of chicks are "uglier than sin."  I think we\'d all be surprised.  mainly because mostl of the talk here is just speculation.

One word: Hottie.

And we should try that eharmony.com - it\'d be interesting.
I may do that just for kicks.

Try this website if you\'re into Asians or whatever...

http://www.asiafriendfinder.com

Many chicks are from China, though, and can\'t speak much English but there are plenty of other good looking girls...

Hmmm . . . I have a friend on-line that I met through one of the other boards I visit. A little different that just going into chat rooms looking for girls. I got to know her through everyday posts for a long time. I consider her a friend now. Too damn far away to meet but maybe someday.

Sites like Friendster can be an OK way to meet people online. these sites are the best because you get to see more than just a pic of the other person. you get to see their friends and what they do for fun becuase there are a bunch of pics. Friendster is a little played out but I like snapnpost.com because it\'s small and there doesn\'t seem to be a lot of fakes. Everyone posts the pics directly from their camerpahones so you get to see a lot of people out with their friends, at parties, etc. It\'s pretty cool but I\'m not telling you guys what my profile name is :) You can see if you can figure it out.

Yes, I agree with that. I met my ex online and finally met her in person after talking for a year. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen and we stayed together for 3 years until a very depressing horrible tragedy occurred that tore us apart that I don\'t feel like going into. Anyway, talking to people online is a really good way to get to know people (unless they suck and everything they said to you was a lie). There are some crack-heads out there, and there are some nice people out there, too.

I don\'t do it anymore because it just depresses me. And saying that everyone who is online is ugly is just stupid. That\'s like saying anyone who uses the internet is a geek. That\'s just a ignorant, stereotyping assumption. You got to open your minds a little and try out new things. I you like it, fine, if you don\'t, that\'s also fine.

I don\'t have any use for dating online since I\'m already with someone I want to spend the rest of my life with, but through the net, I have met some really good people who I consider some of my best friends even though I have never met them in person.  If I can make some really good friends online, I don\'t see why people can\'t find love the same way.  All it takes is commitment one way or the other.

Well having a cousin married into the family technically isn\'t family when they get divorced. They aren\'t related so its fair game (its late and me not make sense when tired like this)
