Title: Let us hope gas prices don\'t get too high.

Or else it might be back to these!

My dad bought one of these and I remember it well... check out the advertising - I swear I have never seen more jargon and cheesy slogans in one advertisement before...  I am thankful technology has advanced in the automotive field.  Otherwise...

Some of my favorite optional equipment:

Turbo Hydra-matic transmission (aka a 3 speed automatic transmission)

High Energy Ignition System (say what?)

Ammeter (part of the gauge instrumentation) some sort of voltage meter?  Your guess is as good as mine.

This is one of those little known cars that no one bought except for my dad.  While everyone was driving Pinto\'s he was burning rubber in his orange Starfire GT.  To think I actually rode in the hatchback as a kid and LIVED!

??

It\'s a 3.8L carburated V6, chances are it\'ll eat up much more gas than all the fuel injected V6\'s on the road today.

I think you just got your thread title skewed. ;)

No... this was considered a perfomance car back in mid 70\'s - at least an alternative to the old muscle cars of the early 70\'s.  Yeah it guzzled gas - that is when engineers thought smaller engines and lighter weight = better fuel economy.

And then Toyota and Honda showed up with reliable cars with excellent gas mileage. :)

Yeah I think that is why I will never buy a GM car - growing up in the era where every GM car looked alike has let its lasting impression.  1974-1979 were terrible years for auto enthusiasts.

In Australia all cars are starting to look like a Magna,Back in the seventies the cars looked better than they do now.IMO

Or maybe I\'m just out of touch with cars.
