Comcast Bought TECHTV and is going to merge it with G4TV so some of the shows you all love might not be around in 30-60 days. Kinda Sucks!!!!
-
so this means you can\'t get tech tv on dish anymore.
-
So, if the Cable Giant can\'t beat them, buy them. Sounds familiar. :p

What I mean was that Comcast will just keep buying more and more companies away from the dish. Well, I\'m just talkin\' here (a la Coredweller ;) )
-
I like Tech Tv and I get it on DirecTv. It better stay on DirecTv!
-
from what I have seen TechTV and G4 Will MERGE either on the channel you see Tech TV on or the Channel you see G4 on. it will remain separate till everything is finalized in next 30-60 days.
Here is a mall snipit of what shows will be kept etc.....
The G4 programming day will showcase many existing G4 and TechTV series such as G4\'s ICONS; PULSE; JUDGMENT DAY; PLAYERS, and CHEAT! as well as TechTV\'s ANIME UNLEASHED; X-PLAY; SCREEN SAVERS; FRESH GEAR; and ROBOT WARS. G4 will also premiere new original programming which will be announced at a later date.

All long as I get to see Morgan on some damn show Im happy.....

Every nerd\'s wet dream. Even female nerds. :p

There are few babes on TechTv
-
As long as G4TV.com(The Show) and Diane Mizota are still around then I\'m happy.

Diane Mizota
-
WHAT!!! Morgan can kick Diane\'s ASS!! Morgan>Diane
-
Hey now. I\'m not taking sides here. I just think Mizz is arguably the hottest chick on G4.
-
Why does she die her eyebrows?
-
Shes afraid people will think she dyes her hair blonde so she dyes her brows. I wonder if she dyes her pewbs brown too?

I dont find her sexy.At all :p
-
Honestly its not cause she is drop dead beautifull it the fact that she is a gamer and a computer nerd and decent looking that makes her daaaamn sexy.....
-
I\'m a big fan of both Ronilyn Reilly and Laura Foy on G4.
-
Son of a bitch. I watch TechTV everyday after work and now this shit? I have Dish...Argh! Motherf**ker\'s.. I refuse to go to DirecTV again though...Mother***rs...I swear, I am extremely pissed off. Tho, not surprised as TechTV really lacks enough material to be its own channel. You have what? ScreenSavers, Fresh Gear, Call for Help, TechLive, Robowars , Anime Unleashed. That\'s about all they play day in and day out.
And for the record - Sarah and Jessica are the two hot TECH TV babes, Morgan is god-awful looking.
-
Dish is for pussies. Get back over to direct tv you wuss.

Is there really that much of a difference? I\'m getting ready to switch but I don\'t know which one to choose. For what I\'m paying to get Comcast I could have a 3-room setup with DirecTV or a 4-room setup with Dish(with a similar package for both).
I\'m leaning towards DirecTV because they have the NFL Network but I want the 4-room setup.

Directv is great. If you a mindless zombie that like yanking it to the thoughts of alot of football players. Otherwise make up your own mind.
-
I don\'t get it.
I made up my own mind 7 years ago when I got my first receiver. 5 receivers later and one I will be getting in May, I\'m still happy with Direct TV.

WTF? I was asking because Vid and LIC said that had them so I was seeing what they thought of the service. Obviously there is a percieved difference if some people hate DirecTV and others hate Dish. Stop being a douche.
-
OK. Here are a few reasons why DirecTV is a douch. If you think the RIAA is being a prick. Try DirecTv. I think they have somthing around 15,000 lawsuits on what they consider infringements. DTV was in on the viacom issue a month ago. They were not an innocent bystander.
If you want to get on the technical aspect. Directv uses higher compression the Dish. So the pic is not as crisp as DISH. I have quite a few other reasons why DTV is mostly hype if you want them.
So far as being a douche. I was trying to fit in with most of the other douches in this forum. ;)
-
I \'m sorry, but you people whine about the RIAA and what DirecTV is doing is ten times worse. Do you realize that they are suing people who just own smart card readers? Even tho\' they have legit uses. They are lawsuits based on nothing, except the *possibility* you may pirate TV.
Not to mention DirecTV is more a monoply than MS could ever hope to b e.
-
I have cable TV with less than 25 channels. Cry for me.
-
You honestly think Direct TV is more of a monopoly than cable providors? You guys are insane. How could Direct TV be a monopoly if they are cheaper than the cable companies? Do you even want to begin to imagine what cable rates would be if they were allowed to be the monopoly they were before Direct TV?
And as far as Direct TV going after people with programmable cards, cable companies have been doing the same damn thing since before you guys were born.
If you are stealing a service and know you are stealing a service then why would you cry fowl play?
Dish and Direct TV quality are highly disputable. I mainly deal with Hi Def when I am looking at who I like and I see nothing wrong with the offerings from Direct TV. As a matter of fact they have a nother sat going up very soon (If not may already have gone up) that will loosen up the bandwidth even more. Dish is fine as well. I\'m not saying they are bad. I\'m just saying there is nothing wrong with Direct TV.

So far as a monopoly goes. They do things far worse than DTV. DTV is now owned by the same guy that also owns fox. For that matter he also owns a shitload of newspapers. They hide under their DTV commercials and ignorant people suach as yourself.
Now so far as HD goes. Dish has more available bandwith. DTV just launched a sat. Dish is bringing yet another one online. So it is what 2 dtv sats versus 3 dish? I wonder who is still going to have more available bandwith? More bandwith is equal to less compression.
There is a huge difference. If you have a decoder box. Then it is easy enough to prove. Before you get on a moral rant.

I personally hope MS busts in your door and sues you for 100,000 bucks for your wink nudge version of xp. That is the right fine isn\'t it? Or is it more? Maybe I can help out. http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/reporting/piracy_in_us.asp

Have to agree. DirecTV is a company that gets away with far to much and it\'s because people refuse to open their eyes ... I would go without TV before I would support DirecTV again.
-
you guys know that the TechTV ladies are considering posing for Playboy?
-
I think that poll was just so oeer won it could pose for Playboy. Not that anyone of them actually would.
Had to delete your link also - as it links to a porn site.
Also if you really want to see one of the TechTV girls naked, go on a search. I have pictures of Cat when she posed nude.

For what? Asking if SP2 is going to try and knock out pirated copies of XP like SP1 did? I own a copy of Windows XP. Why would I have to pay 100,000 for a copy of xp that cost me 99 bucks?
And direct TV has quite a few satellites up there. They began spot beaming the locals which lightened up a ton of compression long ago. Direct TV looks far better today than it did two years ago when they were over extending themselves.
I don\'t know why I am even replying to you. It\'s obvious someone must have just run over your puppy or something.

I was not the one that was asking if xp sp 2 would kill pirated copies. Why would you even worry about it if you are not pirating?
The simple fact that you stayed with DTV when you even admit it was over-extended should tell you somthing. You have bought their hype. I personnaly have been a subscriber to both.
So far as someone running over my dog or whatnot. It annoys me when people encourage behavior that will ultimatly rid them of any freedom they have. I no longer buy cd\'s because of the RIAA. If the MPAA were to go in gung-ho with lawsuits. Currently I have well over 600 movies all store bought. So it would pain me to quit buying them, but that is somthing that needs to be done. Quite frankly if people took that view the world would be a better place. Instead there are gutless wimps that say well it is not happening to me so oh well.
I know people that have been hit with DTV lawsuits. Were they pirates? Not my call to even ask. Did they have other uses for the programmers. Yes. They are generic ISO programmers. Somthing that is gaining more use by the day, and with them in the tech field I can see them needing them.
-
Agree\'ing with Capcom. I\'ve also known people with the programmers that have legit uses. But, DTV went after anyone with the hardware on the basis that may steal something.
How about this - how about the RIAA starts just suing people who have downloaded a P2P program but never actually used it? That is the same exact thing.
Go ahead and buy DTV. Go ahead and buy cds. But when we lose more and more freedoms, just shut up and take it.
I personally buy cds because the RIAA is suing people who have downloaded music, which is illegal. I do not support DirecTV because they are suing people just for the fact they own something that could be used for the wrong purpose..but it could also be used for something legit.
-
WHat\'s a legit reason to own a programmer?
And I still don\'t get what hype I am buying into. I\'m getting a service of better quality than the digital cable in my area for much much cheaper. Wait, I guess I do know what I am buying into.
Funny how you say Direct TV is this evil empire and you don\'t think twice about Time Warner, Comcast, Cox.. All massively huge companies as well who also go after people stealing what they provide.
I guess I really don\'t care that they try and arrest people who are stealing their service. That makes me an evil man.
And the reason I asked about SP2 is freaking curiousity. When SP1 came out it was funny how everyone who downloaded it were freaking out as to whether they could DL SP1 or not. blah blah blah.
-
Do you not read Video? They are suing people who simply own the hardware - not actually stealing it. Say you bought it from a site that also saw DirecTV stuff - you would be sued, even if you bought it for legit smartcard reasons.
Jesus, read.
-
Again, do you read. What is a legit reason to own a programmer?
Why do you need to own it?
"Say you bought it from a site that also saw DirecTV stuff - you would be sued, even if you bought it for legit smartcard reasons."
Jesus, I\'m reading. You aren\'t answering my questions. You are just saying what you wrote before.
I would just like to know a reason to buy a programmer that is legit.
-
boy, my thread has got a small "flame-war" going on! That is a first for me!
-
Smart card authorization vid. You can bypass the username password with a smartcard. It is a bit more secure than the old ctrl-alt-del. Some newer credit cards are nothing other than smart cards.
-
SO I am confused. I need to get a programmer to authorize my smart card? I thought Direct TV did that. I\'ve been doing just fine without one.
-
I dont care one way or another direct tv, dish network or cable I think my picture was waaaaayyy better when I had Dish and now that I have cable it sucks ass... but the package deal I get for phone, cable and internet is also cheaper than what I paid for dish alone.....
-
Direct tv is a bitch I would never use them again.
Then they had all those freakin lawsuits against ppl. They where sending offensive letters to ppl trying to scare them.
They tried to sue a guy who bought a card who did not even have Direct tv.
I am glad they lost though. Serves them right.

Different kind of smart card.
Same basic thing.
Get the drift?
