Clue: My team has had a head-hunter for an ace starter 95% of the last 20 years. ;)

Things:

Corey Patterson needs to stop being a pure pull hitter. Now.

Matt Clement and Kerry Wood have to realize that not throwing strikes is a BAD idea.

Hopefully Zamby has it working tonight...those Braves bats are hot, REAL hot. Marcus Giles is batting at about a .750 clip through 3 games. If that split finger fastball isn\'t working...we could find ourselves 1-3. Not what we need as of right now.

The sooner Prior and Remmy come back, the better. Quite obvious.

See Yuz.

Post by: Luke on April 09, 2004, 11:03:56 AM
So you guys are Boston fans.

Yeah, ,The Cubs are really dfriving me nuts here in the first couple games. Would it kill C-Patt to NOT swing at every first pitch he sees?

Also, as far as our faantasy league goes, there are two players I REALLY want.

Richie Sexon and Kaz Matsui.

I made an offer for Sexon about a week ago so whoever "Roxor me" is look at your god damn teaam page.

Also... I was already turned down once for Matsui, so what\'s it gonna take to get him from you there Jamas?

Mets...how is it that 3 years ago this team pitched well and just couldn\'t hit?  The bats are on fire...the arms are getting lit up.

And the team with Sexson is Fayded, I\'ll yell at him sometime tonight

Ashford: 1984-1996, Roger Clemens. The guy was fearless, he went inside when he wanted to.. and plunked quite a few. 1998-present, Pedro Martinez. He also throws inside, and often is a league leader in hit batters.

In 1997, Tim Wakefield was the opening day starter.. but he\'s not much of a prideful fireballer. Quite the opposite.

Jamas: Yeah, the Cubs are good. I really want to see Cubs vs Red Sox this October, but who doesn\'t?
Title: Baseball!
Post by: Luke on April 09, 2004, 01:59:07 PM
I want the Tigers and The Brewers!!!!

No I don\'t. Cubs vs. Red Sox would make me pee myself.
Title: Baseball!
Post by: Blade on April 09, 2004, 02:17:30 PM
The Tigers are 4-0. That.. is more victories than they had.. in the entire.. 2003.. season.

.....

Well, it feels like it. *shrug*

Luke, I got Fayded to check his team, and he accepted your offer :)

And yes, I too would love Cubs Red Sox :)  Cubs in 7.

I knew you were talking about either Clemens or Pedro but I thought you meant one player and I don\'t know of any that played 19 years with one team...

Updateness: Corey Patterson - 1 for what seemed like 7, about 10 total pitches :-P

Zamby did have it working, no doubt about it. 7 innings, 2 hits, gave up that solo shot to Andruw that almost gave Atlanta the win...

...Almost :)

Cubs win 2-1 in 15 innings of awesome. Todd Hollandsworth hits a 2 out Solo shot in the Top of the 9th to tie the game at 1...god that rocked. Tom Goodwin hits a Sac Fly in the Top of the 15th to give the Cubs the lead, and Bobo shuts em\' down. What a game :)

See Yuz.

I am not all that into baseball. I find it too be one the boring sports to watch. It\'s fun to play but boring as hell to watch.

1. question I have what is the difference between major and minor league?

I see MLB but Mlb teams play minor league teams. What I am saying is it like two different seperate leagues who sometimes play eachother?
Title: Baseball!
Post by: Bozco on April 10, 2004, 11:36:19 PM
They don\'t play eachother.  Either you\'re thinking of National and American league where both are MLB but two seperate sides that play eachother occasionally and in the world series meeting.  If you\'re thinking of Major to Minor than you\'re just confused.  The minor leagues are a farm system before the majors where if you perform well enough you get called up to the major league team that your minor league team is associated with.  In Columbus we have the Columbus Clippers, players that do well enough there are called up to the Yankees.  That quarterback Drew Henson was playing here for a little while.

Good thing I wasted the first pick in the fantasy draft for him:(

He isn\'t done. They\'re bracing for it.

It\'s called "ESPN trying to make news out of nothing whatsoever". They do it a lot...that article prolly should have been in the rumor mill, but since it\'s Prior, oh, lets spread the non-news like wildfire.

Seriouisly, ESPN just sucks...they\'re terrible. Prior, if they do this right, will be back by June. No Worries, Luke :)

In related news...did ANYONE see that Cubs Reds game yesterday? Hot damn what a game :)

See Yuz.

Post by: Luke on April 17, 2004, 04:18:51 PM
I got home from work in time to see it from the 7th inning on.

AWESOME!

As for today, I think Dusty left Kerry in a little too long. But hey, Kerrys the ace, and he wanted the ball.

As far as the Prior thing goes, I know he\'s probably not out for the season. I just remember a few years ago after Wood\'s awesome rookie year he went down for an entire season and it broke my heart. It\'s taken him up untill about now to get back to dominating like we knew he could.

I just have incredibly high hopes for Prior.

Eh. Cubs.... well those that remember forums around the end of the last season know how i feel about that. I admit, i dont hate them, I just dont like them THAT much.

Anyways

A Cubs - Sox World Series would be 10 times more epic than a cubs redsox WS.

Just my two cents.  Chicago would be in a frenzy. Damn Yuppies...(long story)
Title: Baseball!

I also would really love to trade, and everyone on my team is available.

Luke, what would you want for Prior?

Maybe in Chicago, and only in Chicago.  Maybe.  Maybe even only on the south side.  For the rest of the nation, and overall, Cubs Red Sox would be a lot better.
Title: Baseball!
Post by: Luke on April 18, 2004, 12:18:22 PM
Cubs vs Red Sox would be insane.

Being from the Chicago area though, I can see where he\'s coming from cause I would go completely bonkers if the Cubs and ChiSox made it to the W.S.
Title: Baseball!
Post by: Bozco on April 18, 2004, 12:47:09 PM
I don\'t think you have any worries on both making it.
Title: Baseball!
Post by: Blade on April 18, 2004, 03:30:15 PM
Hah, White Sox and Cubs? That would be nothing compared to Red Sox/Cubs. Nothing.

Neither team has won the WS in millenia. Eons. Millions, billions of years.
Title: Baseball!
Post by: shockwaves on April 18, 2004, 04:46:20 PM
It actually has been longer for the White Sox than the Red Sox, Blade.

and even longer for the cubs...
Title: Baseball!
Post by: Blade on April 19, 2004, 12:32:03 PM
Ah, I didn\'t know that. Wow. Thanks for the heads up.

So why haven\'t we heard anything about a WS/Cubs World Series? Is it simply because the Red Sox have been more prolific over the years and even to this date are generally more talented and popular?

Have the White Sox slipped under the radar?
Title: Baseball!
Post by: Luke on April 19, 2004, 12:38:27 PM
Yup pretty much. Also the Red Sox have been consistently better than the White Sox, and getting closer to actually making the World Series.

True. There was one year where we were getting pretty close i think a couple or a few years back or so but nothing spectacular. When they got rid of Durham then they kinda kicked themselves in the ass. RedSox - eh just MO. Maybe be its because i an from Chicago but either way A ChiSoxCubs WS would be nuts wether you are a southsider or not.

When i got on the train today the cubs were up by 1 over the reds in the 6th i think. I was looking from the train platform. Maybe im wrong.
Title: Baseball!
Post by: Luke on April 19, 2004, 05:27:31 PM
They won big. 8-1 I think.

Don\'t forget the White Sox were awesome in the strike year, alot of peoples pick for AL champion.
Title: Baseball!
Post by: Blade on April 19, 2004, 06:41:05 PM
Yeah, I was reading their history and they would have probably had a great shot at the WS that year.

Of course, it couldn\'t happen. Just like how Grady Little put a spent Pedro Martinez back out there in the ALCS, and got Prior got shelled and the fan grabbed that ball to silence the Cubs in the NLCS.

The curses live on.

Sox take 3/4 from the Yanks.  I don\'t care that its only April, until games in September get you an extra 1/2 game in the standings they still mean the same to me.
