Playoffs on Saturday.
Who didn\'t see that Lakers v. Portland game where Kobe Bryant had the most amazing game of his career. Two huge three pointers.
Lakers win Pacific.
Sacramento, who?
-
*slams head into wall
-
^^^glad to find out there\'s an exposed male crotch on other side
-
If anybody has been watching Sportscenter they have seen that amazing shot... I still can\'t believe it...
Someone sticky this, now.
-
Man that laker game was awesome.
I have been a kobe fan since the guy entered into the league. Boy is he awesome. He can have any of my sisters anytime.
Where are all the king fans now. They got owned by golden state lol.
I hope dallas beats kings first round.
-
^^
You keep on saying where are the Kings fans now? You do know that the real Kings fans are widly concidered the most loyal fans in all of sports? I don\'t understand your logic.
-
um...Go Pacers?
-
What do you mean Sacramento who? Lakers got their ass handed to them last game. But I think Lakers would beat Sacramento if they played.
Btw, its sad to know there are only 2 contenders in the east.

Thats the thing, their is no logic. People that follow one player and root for their team blindly like that drive me nuts.
-
Go Bulls!
....
*walks away with head hanging down*
See Yuz.
-
well I\'m pulling for the Pistons in the East, and if the Kings lose I really hope an easterna team can wih the title.
-
Here are my predictions, winners in bold:
Boston v. Indiana
New York v. New Jersey
Milwaukee v. Detroit
New Orleans v. Miami
Memphis v. San Antonio (Upset special)
Houston v. Los Angeles
Dallas v. Sacramento
Denver v. Minnesota
I\'m feeling good about the Kings packing early this year because they cannot play defense against the Mavericks at all...
The Memphis pick is wishful thinking at its best, mainly because I think the Spurs are the Lakers biggest threat, and would like them out of the playoffs as quickly as possible.
-
Swif, I can remember 2 of the games when Spurs played Memphis Duncan was out. It may have been 3. Also, Spurs are a 5x better team than they were the first half of the season.
EDIT: Yep, it was 3. Memphis Shmemphis :p
-
Bold prediction: Houston over LA
watch it happen.
-
Heh... I\'ll shoot myself... If it does happen it will be more of the Lakers beating the Lakers than the Rockets beating the Lakers; because the Lakers are a much more talented team.
And before anybody even thinks about it, Shaq > Yao.

While shocky did not know you took drugs.
That would be one the biggest upset we have seen in a long while. I am confident that the lakers will win.
Nobody can stop kobe and shaq. Especially kobe.
I hope dallas comes out over kings lord please let it happen.
-
Wouldn\'t be that big of an upset really... Houston has beat Los Angeles before... Would be surprising, but wouldn\'t be the upset of the playoffs.
I too hope Dallas takes the Kings out, because everybody keeps saying how much the Kings deserve it; I disagree, and think that the Mavs and Wolves deserve the title more than the Kings.
I think the Kings could be my most disliked team in sports.

I think it would LA is picked as the top team to come out of the west. If they lose in the first round that would huge.
La and all the drama and glory surrounding the franchise. If they lose in the first round major upset.
Houstan has been picked to loose in the first round. Nobody expects houstan too win or go anywhere in the playoffs.

Nope. Replace your Pacers with the Pistons...then it\'s right :)
And if any time could beat LA in the first round, I think it is Houston. They played them very evenly throughout the year, and if anyone can play close to near Shaq, it\'s Yao. And yes, Shaq is the real person you have to worry about on that team, not Kobe.
-
The east is obvious but those 3 teams in the west determine it all, and theres no tellin who will win.
-
Yeah Tony I agree with the Rockets comment, but Im not sure about the Pistons thing yet. We\'ll have to see. Its Miller Time! :)

Yay for being old and washed up!
It\'s ALL about the Wallace brothers these days :)

Pfft. Nah. We\'ll lose in 5 :)
-
The NBA\'s awful...but I might just get into the playoffs this year. Didn\'t last year, was a complete yawnfest. I think I\'m goona say this, and it\'s goona piss off everyone, but Jason Kidd is this generation\'s Larry Bird. Draw your own conclusions from that.
All of Di\'s pick seem to only help the Lakers. LA will \'obviously\' handle Houston, and both Sacramento AND San Antonio just so happen to get upset. Yeah...those are homer picks if I\'ve ever heard them.
Houston in 7 against the Lakers. Yao comes out and kicks some names. Another year, and what appears to be another dynasty type thing. Spurs come out of the West, and I\'ll go with the Pacers in the East. Both teams have been here before, should be quite a good matchup. Spurs in 6, though.
Oh, and the Knicks do beat the Nets in the 1st round, just because I hate the Nets and the Knicks haven\'t been good for a while :)
See Yuz.

Just try to even approach a basketball / Baseball / Many football players.

That holds no bearing in knowing what he stated.
PS: Jason Kidd is a bitch. Charges through someone then stands over them like he\'s tough. Good, his ass deserves to be pushed to the ground.
-
I don\'t care its stupid to say basketball is just throwing a ball through a hoop. You can make any sport sound boring like that. Golf is hitting a ball into a small hole, baseball is smacking a ball and running in a diamond etc.
Just pisses me off when people say shit like that about stuff I like a lot. As if saying Im too stupid to see it.
-
Last time I checked it was talking about how modest each players were, not the sport itself.

Ok thats nothing but your opinion which means nothing. Millions love the nba and think it\'s great so 2 or 3 ppl bitchen don\'t matter. I do not like hockey I think it\'s the worst sport on tv. It has the some of the worst ratings on tv.
But I am not going into the hockey thread posting hockey sucks and blahh...blahh.. I just stay out of it.
Samething goes for the baseball thread i just stay out of it.

More people hate the NBA than love it, part of the reason why college ball is so big. I mean people don\'t watch hockey cause maybe it isn\'t that big of a sport here but they don\'t watch the NBA cause how much it just sucks. It\'s not about the sport, it\'s about the trash that fills the NBA and their egos.
Worst sport, remind why we care what you think.

You cannot make a bold statement like that about nba. More ppl hate the NBA? Give me some type of fact or report that proves this. The Nba revenue is at the highest it has been in years.
And as far as I can tell the rating seem to be holding strong. They project this years playoffs to be one the highest rated.

OK, the only reason I am writing this is because vivi doesn\'t have a clue. Skip it if you don\'t want to read where I\'m coming from.
DUde, don\'t forget that I worked for NBC and ABC for 8 years.
I covered the Dolphins for 3 years. Been to numerous player\'s houses. Been to the playoffs. Been on the team plane.
COvered the FLorida Panthers for 2 years. Covered the Marlins and the Miami Heat as well.
FOllowed the heat on the playoffs in I think it was 1995. THey played the Atlanta Hawks. Lost in the first round. Thank God.
THen I moved to Tampa. COvered the Bucs for 5 years. Been to numerous players houses and followed them around for quite a while. SOme are incredibly nice. Bert Emanuel, Brad Culpepper, John Lynch, damn, you won\'t find nicer guys. Trent Dilpher, Warren Sapp, you won\'t find bigger assholes. They are obviously great to each other, but their elitist attitudes would never let them talk to me on the side let alone a fan. You should hear the radio stations down here. People call in blasting Warren Sapp all the time.
Heck, I was shooting one of those Password games for ESPN the other day. I think they call it "Say What" or something. I don\'t remember. Anyway, I was chatting with Desmond howard and Derrick Brooks for an hour. Very down to earth guys. Although I already had met Derrick a bunch of times.
I\'ve been in many a locker room and there is no better locker room than hockey. No worse locker room than basketball and baseball.
BUt I have no clue what I am talking about.
And Bozco is right. I\'m not degrading the fact that BBall is hard by saying throwing a ball through a hoop. I\'m essentially commenting on their elitist attidues all because they throw a ball through a hole. You don\'t see brain surgeons walking around with their noses in the air. Yet these guys are the true stars.

I Agree. Hockey is absolutely the worst sport to watch on tv compared to being there. Hockey has worse ratings than the XFL had.
Have fun people. I wouldn\'t have even replied if it weren\'t for vivi. Carry on.

Can\'t believe there have been two playoffs games, and a close one in L.A. and not were talking about hockey.

Lakers beat Houston and take Game 1.
Dang shame if your a Lakers-hater too. Shaq was horrible at the line, Houston had so many opportunities to win this.
But the better team won.

Man that was a very close game kobe only 1fg in the first half. But kobe was not looking to take shots in the game. He was more passing the ball and playing defense.
I think the lakers had a bad game but are able to play 10x better in the next one. If the rockets were going to win they should have stole this one. Too bad for them. They are done.
Piston are about to come on so I am gone. Plus my should pain is bitchen.
-
Spurs whooped the Grizzlies by 24, its going to be a 4 game series.
Man that Laker game was ugly. Both team had so many turnovers, and Im think LA wont have any more of those kind of games after that in the series so Houston is done for.
-
Houston didn\'t have the best of their game either, problem was they had the Lakers by the throat at L.A., and then blew it.
I hope the Mavs take at least one from the Kings at Sacramento, because mark my words, the Kings will not beat the Mavericks in Dallas.
EDIT: Watchin the first quarter of the Kings vs. Mavs before I have to go to work... Man Stojakovic is great behind the 3-point line, he\'s got the best touch in the league... Oh, and Divac can\'t guard Nowitzki if the entire nation of Croatia depended on it.
-
Kings won, no big surprise
-
Ah... well neither of the teams decided to play defense, hopefully the Mavs will figure out some of the loopholes next game. They have to take at least one in Sacramento...
-
Spurs once again keep the Grizzlies under 80. :D
-
damn Lakers are gonna win again... :D
-
Let\'s hope so, they\'re down by 2 going into the half.
Rockets matchup so well with the Lakers, thats what makes their 7th-seeding so intimidating. I\'m still confident the Lakers can finish the series, however a sweep is a little unlikely.
The thing I\'m most worried about is the Spurs coming up. They\'re really hot right now, and Memphis looks like the Memphis that we\'ve all been most familiar with.
EDIT: Kobe Bryant is the most exciting player in the NBA. I don\'t care what you think of the guy, he makes the game exciting. If your not watching the Houston v. Los Angeles game, you WILL see Kobe\'s amazing backwards lay-in and the foul. Just un-freaking believable. Man I love being a Lakers fan.
EDIT2: Kareem Rush is sexy.

Kings win!
*thrusts at Vapor
-
Ok, the Kings will win that series. Can\'t count on Dallas for anything those bastards.
Too bad there is no hope for the Kings to beat the T-wolves... No shot at all.
-
Even though I hate the queens they own this series and i do not think the wolves can beat the queens.
The wolves are all hype I see them as a first round team only
-
The way C-webb is playing, I think the KG vs Cwebb matchup will be pretty close. KG will still win out, but not by much. I\'m not going to say the Kings will win, but they have a better than average chance of winning the series....if they play eachother
-
No no, don\'t even compare KG to Cwebb. There is no contest.
-
I\'m not, but I am saying that Webber will put up some numbers against KG. Are you saying there is no way Webb won\'t average 20, 10 and 5 against KG?
-
Yes. I\'ll say that for him.
-
You say Cwebb is playing great lately, but look at how KG is.
Current playoff stats:
Chris Webber (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=1272)
Kevin Garnett (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3007)
So is KG.
-
My point is that KG will be in Webber\'s grill anywhere he goes. Webber had trouble scoring on freakin 40-year old Karl Malone.
-
KG is a very good player but I think you\'re underestimating C-Webb. True KG will be MVP, but C-Webb is damn near averaging a triple double in the post season, if a younger, more liked player was doing this you\'d all be riding his jock.
And after C-Webb you have the mother f*cking man himself, Peja, if he gets hot you might as well start engraving the trophy right now.
Oh and if we want to get into about stats.
KG has 7.5 more ppg than webber, but Webber has 3.5 more assists than KG. And he has 3.5 less TO\'s per game. But talking about playoff #\'s is pretty stupid concidering Webb has played 2 games, and Garnett has 1 less than that.
-
I don\'t know, Spurs and T-wolves look more like champs than the Kings. Tony Parker (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3527) is playing like the PG that people said he would be last year. KG and Cassel are probably the best duo in the league too.
-
First of all, Vivi is right. Webber is a good player. In fact, he\'s one of the better players in the league. But he isn\'t close to Garnett. First of all, we all know that Webber over his career has always faded in the clutch. Garnett doesn\'t. Garnett is also a better rebounder, a better defender, and just a much bigger presence on the court. He is well better than Webber, that\'s just simply the way it is.
And if Peja gets hot you can start engraving the trophy now? I\'m sorry, but no matter how hot anyone on your team gets, you\'re gonna have to play defense against tougher, more physical teams to win.
-
As great as a shooter Peja is, perhaps the best in the NBA, he is a horrible defender.
-
Vapor, you should pay more attention to the current NBA, Peja is getting recognized as one of the better defending small forwards in the league.
-
Hah... yeah I admit I threw that one outta my arse.
-
Pistons and Lakers..... Pistons in 7! Yea you heard it here first.
-
i agree with vapor peja has no defense. Omen have you paid attention to the games? His defense is horrible.
Sad game for the knicks though they should have won.
-
Even though the Spurs might sweep, you have to give credit to the Grizz... They have came so far and have no big names at all.
-
Games not over yet, Lakers trail by 6 with about 2 minutes to play at the moment...
I\'ve noticed how each year in the playoffs as the Lakers come across teams there is a player I will hate due to many factors. Its not because they are primarily the biggest threat to the Lakers, it is mainly because in general they are a punk.
Houston = Steve Francis.
Cried about getting drafted by the Grizz, has been fined for not being able to control his tongue in half-time interviews, and I believe he ranked amongst the top in technical fouls this year.
Now he blatantly grabs on to Fisher\'s hand, and Fisher tries to break it free, and hits Yao Ming in the face, and then Francis wants to start something.
Finally, the guy is constantly \'arm-barring\' everytime he drives to the hoop, drives me crazy.
Ok back to the game.
Thanks for listening.
And the Lakers drop game 3. Karma really sucks, seconds after I trash Francis he turns into Superman and starts throwin balls from under his legs and they\'re falling. Rockets were just hot and coming off a \'home-game-high\'. Shaq needs to start making free throws.
Lakers to take the next 2.
And finally, I don\'t know why Phil Jackson sat Gary Payton the entire fourth quarter. That is pure bullcrap, and Payton has every right to complain about it. He is a playmaker, a great defender, and he has to be out there in the closing minutes at least.
-
Cried about getting drafted by the Grizz, has been fined for not being able to control his tongue in half-time interviews, and I believe he ranked amongst the top in technical fouls this year.
Yeah, I hate players who talk shit and get fined by the league....Oh wait, Shaq did the same damned thing. And shaq had more fouls per game, more flagrants, more ejections and ranked 8th in techs while playing 12 less games,
-
But Shaq is better.
Just needs to start banking some free throws.

I love it.

Lucky for me I was out on my boat all day and didn\'t watch them suck balls.

Thats a bold prediction considering the Mavs are nearly invincible at home.
-
GO DALLAS! :D
-
Lakers beat the Rockets in awesome fashion.
Kobe Bryant > Entire city of Houston.
From all their "Kobe sucks" chants, Kobe drove to the hole through 3 Rockets defenders, and just shut that entire crowd up. I couldn\'t be happier. Best part was when Houston called their desperation timeout, and Kobe walked back to the bench with a hand held to his ear cuz the Rockets fans were mighty quiet.
Oh, and Karl Malone was the man today. Dude is a warrior and gave the Rockets a good beating on the boards.
The icing on the cake was watching Steve Francis turn the ball over clumsily to give the Lakers a for sure win.
Lakers up 3-1, and heading back to L.A.
Bring on the Spurs.
-
*waits a week or more for the Pacers and Heat/Hornets series to start*

Might as well just wait for the Pacers and Pistons/Nets series instead.

Damn, Tony Parker is turning into one of the best PG\'s in the league. The way hes playing right now, he is the best period. Better than Kidd, Nash, and Marbury.
-
Going to the Palace on Friday to see the Pistons in game 5. Costs me 12 dollars, cuz that is how much the tickets are! I get to be the B.... (painting out bodies) of BIG BEN :)

Make no mistake, I\'ll be rooting for the Pacers. The Pacers and Pistons are the best chance for the East to get some respect back to the East.
-
*Yawn* Hurry up and bring on the Lakers, I want to get this over with.
-
This upcoming Lakers v. Spurs series is pretty much the Lakers championship. Quite honestly, after the Spurs are out of the picture, I can see the Lakers making a solid run for the finals.
-
After the Spurs are out of the picture? If the two teams played eachother right now, I garuntee you the Spurs would sweep them. Tony is playing like the best PG in the league right now.
-
I will not guarantee the Lakers will win the series, but I can guarantee they will not get swept.
-
I guarantee the Lakers will win the series
"I put that on yo momma"
-
Neither of those teams is gonna get swept unless theres an injury to a superstar.
-
Game starts in like 40 minutes... Rockets better get their bags packed.
-
Man, the Lakers packed their bags, and threw them straight on the street... Rockets got WHOOPED.
Spurs going down. Lakers are hot, hot, hot.
-
I think whoever wins the SA/LA series is going to win the championship.
-
One game the Lakers are hot. Tony Parker, Horry, and Tim Duncan were hot the entire series... Especially Tony, he should be player of the month for his performance.
-
Rockets are a much better team than the Grizz.
It\'s going to be a great series.
-
Care to make it interesting? I bet $10 the Spurs will win. $20 if they sweep them. $20 if Lakers sweep etc.?
-
Yeah, because we both know we\'re both trustworthy enough to mail the winner their money.
-
I did it with Coredweller last year, trust me dude. A mod can ban me or something if I don\'t.
-
Its amazing how many chances the Mavericks had to win that series....
Oh well, I hope the Kings are happy now, because they are going to get whooped by the Wolves.
And with the Mavs out now, the Kings are now the worst defensive team in the playoffs.
-
Game was good.... Me wishes Sactown luck vs the Wolves. :D
-
Swifdi you want to bet? Last chance, I don\'t want to wait till after game 1...
-
Nah, because I doubt I would be honorable enough to send you money if I lost.
-
Reclaim the throne.....
-
Spurs played an awesome game. It\'s going to be tough containing the speed of Ginobli and Parker, meanwhile watching Duncan\'s deadly perimeter shooting. I\'m sure Phil Jackson will figure out something, and we will take Game 2.
-
I\'m sure he will.
Spurs in 5.
See Yuz.

-
After game 5 I dont have a voice! Pistons baby!
Going to Monday\'s and Friday\'s game at the Palace. Total... 28$ priceless. Gotta love the bad boys!
-
Shaq has to start hitting free throws... If he was at least a 60% free throw shooter, I\'d guarantee a championship right now...
-
They might wanna focus on beating the Spurs before you go guaranteeing a championship. Spurs have won like 15 games in a row.
-
Thats 16... :p
And if you want to talk about free throw problems.... Spurs shot 1-9 in the first half from the line. 40% overall.... If the Spurs can just shoot average from the line, there would be no competition.
-
Spurs will knockout the Lakers 4-1.
But that doesn\'t matter...
The Hornets are winning it all.:D
-
Hornets won\'t make it past the Heat, but I seriously don\'t think the Lakers can beat the Spurs. Manu Ginobili is gonna give them fits.
-
I am loving every minute of seeing the Lakers struggle. They represent so much that is wrong in sports, it\'ll be a joy to see them knocked out this early.
Seriously, this is a team that put talent before chemistry and teamwork. You don\'t just bring in the best players, you bring in the players that work best for your team, something the Lakers seem to have forgotten. Payton clearly has been an awful fit here. This team has just become ugly to watch. They always talk about Kobe needing to carry the team...bullshit. Doesn\'t anyone understand that no one needs to carry a team with 4 future hall of famers? It\'s such an LA way of looking at things really, even with so much talent the put they individual before the team. Payton\'s attitude shows that, Kobe\'s attitude shows that.
Not to mention the fact that people are trying to glorify someone on trial for rape right now, who even if he is found not guilty, has provided more distractions for a team that needs to be coming together than anyone else in the league by far. This is the worst time that could happen, since this was the season where the team needed to come together the most. I think anyone who even had Kobe for MVP enter their minds is insane, just because of all these distractions he\'s caused. Oh yeah, let\'s not forget that just about all his teammates hate him.
Then, go beyond that, and look at the defense. Gary Payton has always been known for his defense. At least all 4 future hall of famers have been on the NBA all defensive team. The fact is, however, that over the course of the season this team has been too lazy to play defense consistantly. It cost them during the regular season, and it\'s costing them now. Defense wins championships.
Frankly, the Lakers make me sick, and I will love every moment of their defeat, which will happen.
-
Damn Im scared of Detroit now...they just killed New Jersey.
-
Damn I like Detroit, there def my fav team in the East. I\'d like to see either them or Indiana take the title if the Kings don\'t.

It\'s such an LA way of looking at things really, even with so much talent the put the individual before the team.
Go Lakers!
-
Wow, too bad the Kings can\'t beat the T-Wolves..... Oh wait, their up by 8 with 30 seconds left in the 4th.
*thrusts at non-believers
-
T-wolves in 6.
-
*thrusts at Vapors Lakers who are down 1-0 in their series.
-
Man I hate the Kings... I do not know what hurts more so far, watching the Lakers lose or the Kings win...
-
I know what you mean, I don\'t know what\'s better, a Kings win or a Laker loss... I guess the win is better, but damn that Laker loss is sweet.
-
Meh, the Wolves deserved to lose that one. Shot half as many free throws and had twice as many turnovers...that\'ll do it. Especially when a team shoots their FT\'s like the Kings. That won\'t happen every game though.
-
Its funny to hear the announcers bash KG about a "bad night" when he had 16 points and 18 rebounds. 18 rebounds in the playoffs is crazy. He did miss a lot of shots though. Spree was awful.
-
I know alot of people are going to say that Bibby won\'t go that big every game, and KG and Spree won\'t do that badly, but look at Cassel and C-webb and Peja. Both teams kind of had mirror images of eachother, 1 of their big three exploded while the other two sucked.
Either way, Go Kings!
-
If the Lakers ever had a chance to beat the Spurs tonight was their night. Shaq was dominating, Spurs were missing shots, and calls werent goin our way.
-
wonder where Vapor is at?
-
well it looks like the Lakers MIGHT get the broom....
back to Staples, let\'s see what they can do.

Lakers = Dead and buried. :)
What a sweet feeling. Here I was thinking I had no interest in the playoffs. :D

Pacers and Heat play tonight, should be a pretty good win for the Pacers :)

Vapor get banned again?

Just got back from the Pistons game. Two things, the refs are very bad and New Jersey\'s hold over the east is offically over. When they are hitting their shots they can\'t compare to Detroit.
Bring on Indiana!
-
Nets have tons of talent, its wierd they dont win often. They have Kenyon Martin (turning into a crazy beast), Jason Kidd (known as the best PG in the league), Richard Jefferson, and Kerry Kittles. Thats a talented line-up....
-
They\'re talented, but can\'t even compare to Detroit and Indiana. If Detroit winds up winning the East and the Spurs win the West the Finals will be sooo boring. The ratings will be terrible. Thats why Im hoping for Kings/TWolves vs. Pacers.
-
god damned free throw shooting and god damned refs, I can\'t believe that foul they called on Miller, and the rebounding at the end.... today sucks ass.

And you sir have no respect for what basketball is. Excuting defense with unbelieveable accuracy is somethign that doesn\'t happen in the NBA anymore. What you cannot see is the beauty in shutting a team down.
I suppose if someone in neutral on both sides of the finals, it would be a pretty boring series because your not looking for one said to shut down the other. But at least give respect where respect is due. Pistons play intelligent basketball, not boring.
-
I meant from a general perspective. Of course its not boring if its your team in the Finals. My team can shut others down on defense too. Indiana is regarded as one of the best defensive teams in basketball. However they are also good on offense and consistently score more than 85ppg, something the Pistons do not do. Saying I don\'t have respect for basketball because I think the series would be boring isn\'t accurate at all. I have lost some respect for the NBA, but not basketball. College basketball is at least twice as good as the NBA.
Nets looked pretty good today from what I saw, especially in the 1st quarter. This might be a series after all.
-
Yea, the NBA has taken a lot of hits in the past. These players leaving from high school are really hurting the college game too. But what can you do.
Pistons in 6
-
T-Wolves Pistons has been what I\'ve been rooting for from the beginning. I really don\'t want it to be the Lakers or the Spurs. Hopefully whoever wins out in the other series (hopefully the Wolves) can win the West. I really hate about half the teams left, so hopefully none of them end up taking it all.
Of course, any team winning the title out of the East would be incredible, regardless of who it is. I really think both Detroit and Indiana have as good a shot of doing that as any team has in a long time. I would like to see Detroit more because I think they have a slightly better shot. That, and they don\'t have a certain old flopping SG on their team. No, I\'m not bitter...
-
I\'m not quite sure if I want the T-Wolves or Kings to win this series. It isn\'t make or break to me but the T-Wolves just seem like a bunch of cry babies at times. Seeing KG win though would be nice considering it seems to have the upmost class and playing abilities.

Oh....you must be that one.

Vapor likes the Lakers, hes outside of LA. The Nets and Pistons series is so weird, each game is a blowout. Spurs have got to rebound and get this next win. LA has a lot of momentum right now it seems. Pacers just have to play smart and not commit stupid fouls. Thats what ended up winning the game for Miami was all their FTs.
-
GO MIAMI!
That\'s right Scott, you hear me. I actually like this team. A Van Gundy instead of Riley, Wade and Butler instead of Hardaway, and of course, you can\'t forget Skip to my Lou :)
-
^^
I like Miami just because of Alston, I just wish they would call him by his proper name....bastards
-
WHAT an ending to the LAkers/Spurs game!!!! .4 seconds, lakers down by 1 inbound to fisher and puts it in to win the game!!!!! Tim duncan right before made a fade away jumper that was amazing!
Lakers win and lead series 3-2! and go back to LA for game 6.
:hat:ScottyJ:hat:
-
Lakers win again
-
Man.............. im going to kill myself
-
I was watching while working, how do you catch and shoot a ball in .4 seconds..............you don\'t.
-
easy, the Lakers just did it..... and it was legit.
Good game.
-
I\'m not discounting it, just saying it wasn\'t .4 seconds.
-
Yea, it was more like .3999999999999999999999998 because it left his hands before the buzzer. :)
-
Interesting that th clock stopped right after Duncan made his shot. If the refs are as biased towards the Lakers shot as they were the Spurs, the game would\'ve been over.
Seriously, who stops a game with .4 seconds left?
You can go to any physics thing you want, it\'s physically impossible to catch and shoot a ball in .4 seconds. It can\'t be done.
See Yuz.
-
It didn\'t look like they started the clock when he first caught the ball. You can\'t catch the ball, turn around and shoot in less than .4 seconds.
-
Glad someeone else understands.
-
....
-
If you heard the announcers, NBA rulebook says .4 is enough to catch and shoot.
this happened before also,
Alonzo Mourning stuns the Celtics (1993 Eastern Conference first round, Game 4)
The Hornets are up two games to one in the five game series, and are playing at home against Boston. Trailing 103-102, Mourning sinks a 20-foot jumper with 0.4 left on the clock to put Charlotte into the conference semis and send the Celtics home.

Well if you put it that way the Lakers might as well protest that they had .8 instead of .4. :stick:
-
I must say the Lakers played better. Spurs need better perimeter shooting to win, and we lost what we had last year (stephen jackson and steve kerr)
-
Im just as pissed as you vivi, I thought Dallas and Houston would do ok in the playoffs then get knocked out at usuall. I really had alot of hope for the Spurs to make another run to the finals though. I figured after the first 2 games the Spurs defintally had the series but Tony Parker started playing like crap by game 3 and Tim wasnt doing so well either.
Also, it is physically impossible to take a shot in .4 seconds...it just cant be done. Snap your fingers and that is a second..now think about how quick .4 seconds is. That game was given to the Lakers, the series wasnt though. The Spurs just couldnt get it togeather. It doesnt really make me angry that the Spurs didnt go on, but it makes me angry that the Lakers did. The Lakers do not disserve to be champions...the team is a joke. Every player on that team is full of themselves and doesnt give a damn about they\'re teamates. Shaq, Colby, Payton, Malone, all of them. The team has fallen into the Hollywood trap, it\'s all about glamour and fame...and has nothing to do with chemistry.
-

I will state my opinion now, if you\'re a lakers fan you\'re not a sports fan. Rooting for the all star asshole team is terrible, especially considering none of them are respected people. Take for instance Karl Malone, widely considered the dirtiest player in basketball.
-
I\'ll disagree with that Bozco. If you\'re a long time Lakers fan...and have liked them through downs as well as ups (and no, last year was not a down), then it\'s ok. If you live in LA or something, then it\'s ok. Besides that...unless you have family on the team or something, I agree completely. No kid from somewhere like Atlanta or something should like the Lakers.

This is true, I was more speaking from my standpoint. Where living this far from California, but still meeting tons of laker fans. Even in LA though you could root for the clippers. :p
-
Only lunatics and people who don\'t care about basketball root for the Clippers. I live in Los Angeles, but I hate the Lakers for my own reasons. No point in going into that right now.
It makes no sense to dispute these small issues like .8 seconds on a shot clock. My philosophy has always been: If you let the game get so close that it is decided by one call, then you have no business winning the game anyway. An NBA championship is for teams that win games DECISIVELY. Either play to win decisively and clobber your opponents, or don\'t bother. The Spurs therefore deserved to lose.
BTW, you will note this criticism applies to the Lakers as well. They may have their come uppance on the way.
-
I dont know its kind of cool knowing that it could be only 2 teams (Lakers and Spurs) have a dominance over the league like that, sort of like the old celtics and lakers.
-

I agree fully with that, and it\'s what I argue often about sports. You don\'t "deserve" to win anything when you\'re in a position to lose with one shot. You deserve to win when you win by any real margin. In games like this, no one "deserves" the win. Saying you deserve it cause you were up 1 is stupid.

I dunno but what does having a jackass reputation have to do with not deserving to be champions? Whoever wins, deserves it... doesn\'t matter if one is a wannabe rapper, a sex offender, or an oldie. You win, you win. :p
Can\'t wait to see who faces the Lakers though... :nerd:

Oh god, do I hate Laker fans.
-
ESPN had a poll on which team do you love to hate the most. The Dallas Cowboys, Duke, Lakers, and Yankees. I voted Lakers, but the Yankees were way ahead of everybody.
I think its sad that Karl Malone and Gary Payton had to take the philosophy "if you can\'t beat em join em". If they win the championship its because they are riding Shaq and Kobe\'s coattails. They couldn\'t get it done on their own respective teams so they had to join the Yankees of the NBA, the Lakers. I hope the Kings/TWolves knock the Lakers off, but if they fail to do so I hope anybody from the East knocks them off. If it was the Pacers it would be even better.

You dont understand, It all brings me back to my football playing days...wich ended about 6 months ago I guess. If some team your about to face is really arrogant, there would be no greater feeling than to beat the snot out of them. This is because your team is respectable and not a bunch of loudmouths. If they beat you it\'s really disheartining because you feel like the more respectable quiate team disserved it instead of the arrogant sob\'s.
That is why I dont feel the Lakers disserve to win, the team and the fans are arrogant. There are other teams that just play thier game without all the attention and hype and come out doing great. They dont ask to be recognized, they just play in hopes of winning. These teams disserve it. It\'s more from a moral and attitude standpoint than a talent.
This is why it\'s easy for non laker fans to have wanted the Spurs to go on. They are just a couple of good ol\' boys (yes Im Texan) doing their thing. Tim Duncan is quite possibly the most likable ball player there is, Tony Parker also. These guys are good without all the arrogance surrouding them.
Alright I\'ve had my say, Im going to bow out before this turns into a stupid argument. I dont want to cause any tempers to flares, I just want you to see things from my side.
-
Go T-Wolves....
-
you guys are funny. I ain\'t no die hard Laker fan, I am just saying it as I see it. Man if I was in Payton\'s or Malone\'s position, I would do the exact same thing!! :D
And if anyone is doing hating here, it\'s you guys. I never called any of you "stupid (team name) fans".
I don\'t see what the problem is with the Lakers winning? They win and that\'s pretty much what matters.
oh and go Wolves!! :bounce:
-
I had a flashback of Derek Fisher when Cwebb fired that three, but his turned out not to be a fairy tale.
**** the lakers
-
Other than the Kings losing, I\'m just kinda pissed that my 2 of my 3 fav teams (warriors are the other team) in the west had to meet before the conferance finals. Oh well, even though the Wolves are a very distant third in my favorite teams, I\'m glad they\'ve made it this far.
-
I\'m routing for the Wolves this round... seriously.
But we all know the Lakers are gonna take it right?
-
Yeah, they are.
-
Lakers will have an easier time with the TWolves than they had with the Spurs.
-
Ban him again
-
Its true tho.
-
Honestly I was sad to see the Kings go, I truly wanted a Lakers and Kings series. Things would be really interesting with my girlfriend being a Kings fan, heck there woulda been an "Ugh I\'m Pissed pt.3" for sure after a Kings v. Lakers series...
But the Kings lost it in perfect fashion. Webber doing his usual choke routine. Missed the easy lay-in, and then the three pointer.
-
All I have to say is, get rid of C-webb and we\'ll be a better team. And maybe let me kick him in the balls while they\'re at it.
-
Speaking of next year, all I really want is Kobe. Much love to Payton and Malone, but I really don\'t want to see Bryant in any other uniform except a Lakers one.
-
If the Spurs get Stephen Jackson back (he says he wants to) and and maybe Steve Nash, or any other perimeter shooter, Spurs could garuntee a championship. The only reason the Lakers won is because the spurs didnt knock down open 3\'s. Cya later Turkoglu, good job choking out there. And same thing with Bowen and Parker, but they werent out there soley for 3 pointers.
-
btw, Pistons win. :D
-
Vivi, why would they get Nash when they have Parker?
On another note, the Warrirors got Mike Montgomery as their coach. I\'ll tell you what, they are atleast trying to build this team up by rebuilding the front office.
-
Pistons in 6 over Pacers, You heard it here first! Just like my other 3 posts about the Pistons going on the way but I aint playing here dudes trust me on this one.

Nash can hit threes, and we need someone like that, plus our backup pg\'s arent that great (Jason Hart, Charlie Ward)
-
I just don\'t see the inteligence in signing an allstar PG to put him on the bench, when they could pursue roleplayer sharp shooters, maybe Lindsey Hunter, Glen Rice, Rafer Alston (I love that guy, though he\'s not really a 3 point shooter), Fred Hoiberg, Tracy Murray, there are other, but these guys are all decent shooters.
-
REGGIE REGGIE REGGIE...Mr. Clutch does it again.
-
Its mostly just wishful thinking, but I do know Nash wont stay in Dallas.
Reggie, funny lookin dude but he is an amazing clutch shooter.
-
I\'d like to see Golden State maybe make a play for Nash, I think that Van Axel won\'t exercise his player option to stay with the team meaning that they\'ll be like 24 million under the cap. With that dough they could go after Kobe, or possibly get two decent players like Nash and another FA like maybe Kenyon Martin. I know it\'s a bit much to hope for, but that\'s what I\'m all about.
-
I dont think Kenyon will stay in Jersey, that is if he wants to win a championship.
-
Kenyon thinks he deserves a max contract, but obviously he doesn\'t deserve it at all.
-
I think KG deserves the world. They killed the Lakers tonight without Cassell. I love it.
-
We got one from Minnesota... I\'ll be surprised if the Twolves even take one at Staples.
-
Dude, quit with your confidence, you know that once the lakers go down 2-1 you\'ll be crying "it\'s over" just like you did last year when the Spurs went up on the Lakers. Don\'t make me find that thread.
-
Yeah, and I was right. :)
-
No class Lakers, T\'ing it up.
-
At least we keep our elbows to ourselves.
(excluding Malone of course)
-
You keep your elbows to yourselves?
Hell, the T-wolves did. It was the Kings (Peeler) that couldn\'t keep his Mizzou Elbows to himself. The Dumbshit.
Either way, I can\'t really see why the Lakers were retaliating like they were in Game 2. They had to expect the T-Wolves to come out aggressive, and the way they fought back like High Schoolers was relativley pathetic.
See Yuz.
-
Regardless, if I recall Kevin Garnett was third in the league in technical fouls... Its funny, if the Lakers would have lost Game 1, and did the same in Game 2, it would have been called being \'aggressive\'. All the Lakers did was retaliate. There was crap on both sides of the floor.
-
the lakers will win in 6
-
This Game 2 between the Pacers and Pistons is just amazing... The Pistons defense, especially Prince\'s block on Miller\'s layup in the closing minute was just unbelievable. I have so much respect for the Pistons right now, much more than I had in the past. I really hope the Pistons win this series, I think they are the only ones who can legitimately make the NBA Finals competitive.
-
27 blocked shots in the game.... damn
So far these are the best playoffs Ive ever seen.
-
To get blocked that many times is crazy. Jermaine O\'Neal has got to go to work next game. Artest had a bad game overall. I don\'t think there will be a repeat performance from him this series. Damn Reggie should\'ve pump faked, drawn the contact and tried to make it a 3 point play. Its like he slowed down on purpose...damn.
-
Tayshaun Prince > the world
take that reggie :p
-
Looks like Reggie is losing some steam. He should have ran faster!!! LOL
-
DAMN STRAIGHT (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2004/columns/story?columnist=aldridge_david&id=1808516)
No fewer than two coaches and three personnel guys at the Detroit-Indiana series had the same reaction within seconds of hearing that the league was only fining Malone $7,500: You know who they want in the Finals.
Wouldn\'t be the first time the NBA tried to give the Lakers a series :p
-
Pfffft... suspend him for a flagrant foul, that quite honestly didn\'t look too harsh?
And then not suspend Kevin Garnett, for retaliating to Peeler and throwing a blatant elbow to Peeler\'s chest....
Same exact thing.
-
Mr. Elbows is one of the dirtiest players in the game, he should be suspended atleast one game.
-

Regardless, Malone is playing in Game 3 tonight, and the T-wolves are dicked. It seems everytime Kobe has to make a last-second entrance, he has a monstrous game.
-
And Kobe Bryant puts another nail in the Twolves coffin. The guy is unbelievable.
Wolves won\'t win Game 4 either. Just way too much firepower from the Lakers at home.
EDIT: Hah, I almost spoke too soon, as the Twolves turned up the heat. But looks like the Lakers will take this Game. Also, what was up with the officials not calling that obvious, and relentless fouling attempt by Madsen on O\'Neal? Man that was just ridiculous.
-
Agreed. Both sides wanted that foul.
And by the way, if Cassell was 100% you guys would be toast.
-
Thats not a logical prediction considering the lakers got whooped when Cassel didnt play
-
Lakers got "whooped" because the Twolves were backed up to a wall. They understood if they fell 2-0, the Lakers would easily bring out the broom.
I\'ve seen the Lakers annhilate the Wolves even with Cassell, so he really isn\'t much of a concern to me. Wolves cannot win at Staples.
I really want to see the Wolves knocked off at Minnesota. Those are the best to watch. :)
-
The lakers got whooped b/c MN is a better TEAM. Plain and simple. The lakers havent been a TEAM since the Magic show and that was often debatable.
-
I guess not being a team gets you a few championship rings...

Even though the Wolves were 3-1 in the regular season against the Lakers, and Cassell has barely been able to play at all this series? And don\'t forget the TWolves backup PG who torched the Lakers last year, Troy Hudson, is also injured.
...and yet, the Wolves are still very much in this series...

I wouldn\'t be surprised, Bozco. We\'ve seen the type...blindly in love with the team, despite their flaws and their overall deterioration of the game as a whole. Doesn\'t really surprise me at all. I choose to ignore these fans...no real imput as far as I\'m concerned.

-
Bah.... boo-hoo... So what if they lack that certain chemistry to reach your standard of "team". They may not slap each tohers ass after each play, go out and drink together, or gather around the locker room to sing Kumbayah... But when they get on the court, they get the job done.
Personally I liked the chemistry better when Payton and Malone weren\'t around, however even with it being very murky, the Lakers are still winning and proving that this, "team"-speculation isn\'t that important.
Also, the Wolves are one loss away from being on the ropes. Even you have to agree that there is no way they can come back from a 3-1 defecit. And they have to know the Lakers are going for the kill in Game 4 at Los Angeles.

It\'s hard to explain why I have so much love for Detroit besides that they are my home team. There style is quite boring from time to time, but the defense does it all for me. Tayshaun is one example of a player who hasn\'t been talked about much but makes huge differences in a lot of games he plays in. Everyone knows Detroit by Larry Brown and Ben Wallace, (recently Sheed). These guys just work their a$$es off everynight and constantly remark about how they have the best home court advantage because of the fans. This is why I live and breathe Piston basketball.

Yeah... this is the only series in the East that I can just sit and watch from 1st to the 4th quarter. Lots of energy.

Lots of energy and barely any scoring. But I think that is how basketball should be played. I don\'t think I have watched a Dallas Mav game for more than 4 minutes at a time this year because I hate senseless and blind basketball.
I think Detroit, despite the fact of their low offense, lead the league with alley-oop baskets by a great margin.
-
I just love blocked shots. :D
-
Here go the refs with hating Detroit again. How many calls on Rasheed do we need to see before he actually knocks out the ref. He hasn\'t commited but one of those fouls. That is why the Pacers are battling back and have made it close. The refs lost us 1 Jersey game and game one in Indy. I am honestly sick of it.
EDIT: I am sorry but there is 29.1 seconds left and Sheed put up a shot, in the replay his ENTIRE ARM gets raped by Oneal. No call, thankfully ben was there for the put back. Then as they are going to commerical, they want to get a shot of the Detroit bench after the score, and there is a ref staring at the play, the exact same one who has been calling bullshit all over Rasheed all day. He needs to be fired for bias refing.
-
wow you\'re complaining about fouls when the Pacers were getting hacked left and right? On a couple of those "blocks" today the Pacers were hacked and badly. Namely a few times with Austin Croshere and the first shot Reggie put up. That last foul on Croshere was bullshit he had his hands in the air, Rasheed spins around shoots the shot and the ref calls the foul for no reason.
I even heard Rasheed saying to the ref after one of Croshere\'s fouls "thats not a foul ref". Its just a physical series, so theres gonna be missed calls and calls that shouldn\'t be made because they anticipate the foul. I can make the same claims you make for Rasheed for Artest. I only agree with maybe 2 of the fouls on Artest.

I know that wasn\'t directed at me, but that was my explaination, and I could add A LOT more to it if you want me to.

Barely even get by? I\'d say making it to the Western Finals and up 2-1, they\'re getting by just fine.
Dirty players? Rapists? Haha... come on man... We all know that there are much more of those outside the Lakers that are in the NBA.

If anything is wrong with sports today, it\'s Bozco.

As for SER, I really don\'t see why you guys are overreacting so much to his comments. I\'m assuming, and correct me if I\'m wrong SER, that he is an avid b-ball fan and simply likes to be entertained by watching the game. And none of you cannot deny that the Lakers are entertaining.

Did you not notice 3 consecutive calls on Rasheed on consecutive possessions, all off ball? The ref was just making up for it, sadly they do that in the NBA.
All I\'m saying is if you look at this series and the Nets series, the refs were completely bias toward the other team. Sorry if losing to Detroit makes you angry since Indiana has had nothing but hype from the media while Detroit for the most part has been denoted as a boring team. (even though the styles of play are very similar.)

You mean to tell me you haven\'t read any of this thread? The talk isn\'t over you watching basketball, it\'s over your view on the Lakers. I\'m really confused how you didn\'t catch that. Also, how was I hypocritical. I wasn\'t the only one that saw how you viewed the Lakers as a complete joke.
As for calling you a dumb ass. It was a last resort after you failed to grasp what everybody had said in the entire thread. All you could do is say, "well they win, I just don\'t get the hate for them". Resorting to use of my words, just adding my name instead of yours. Saying I\'m whats wrong with sports. You couldn\'t defend how they played or anything, you just like winners.
-
 oh god... You are so funny. I heard read this whole thread. And who said this thread was about me watching basketball? You said stated your OPINION on the Lakers earlier. I have stated mine. I believe in a team that WINS. Go ahead and waste your time watching your mediocre team. I don\'t know if you have read this thread, but I route for the team that I find exciting to watch.
And you are hypocritical for resorting to name calling and labeling us "dumbasses" for routing for the showboat team... What\'s wrong with that? How can we be with what\'s wrong with sports today?? There is no logic in that. Like I said, if anything is wrong with sports today it\'s people like YOU who resort to such nonsense.
EDIT: sorry no name calling here....:stick:
-
What I find wrong is when the Lakers suck, what next? Will you just find another team to route for? With your reasoning you would, and thats exactly why I find such a problem in this. Doesn\'t help the situation when the winning team has no class.
Also, my use of name calling didn\'t strengthen your arguement but keep riding that.

Exactly. I stopped caring about the Bulls ever since Jordan retired. Why? Because I don\'t want to watch a bunch of crappy ass games with a bunch of no names I know or care about. I don\'t want to route for a 20 wins a season team. Why watch that when you can watch a team that\'s exciting and keeps things interesting. Boring or exciting? Your choice.

Outing myself from what? I enjoy watching basketball. So am I supposed to bow down before one team and that\'s it? You\'ve got to be kidding me man. I am a fan of the whole sport. You seem to believe I only like the Lakers because I defend them when people make comments that I don\'t agree with? Seriously Boz, stop trying already.
oh and nothing wrong with the Cavs... I just don\'t live close to any city with an NBA team.
-
I don\'t really understand why you guys are bashing on SER so much... What is wrong with being an a sports fan in general? In fact, there is nothing wrong with rooting for whatever team is the most entertaining to you, and it is not mandatory to have a specific loyalty to one team. There are tons of fans like this, that enjoy watching specific teams because they put on a good show. The Lakers, Yankees, Rams, etc. are perfect examples of teams that are just entertaining to watch.
Like I said, tons of fans who have no alliances with any team, they watch the game for its entertainment. And I don\'t mean to be putting words in SER\'s mouth, but all he has done is defended the Lakers as a team thats fun to watch, and not specifically jumped on their bandwagon and only rooting for them.
Anyways...
The Lakers are up 3-1 on the Twolves, and that game was pretty much the series. Unless the Wolves can rally three straight wins, which won\'t happen because they can\'t win on the road, then the Lakers will have a nice path to the NBA Finals. Hopefully this series ends in Game 5, so the Lakers can heal up, as those Eastern Conference teams continue to beat the crap out of each other.
Either way, it would be a safe bet to say the Lakers will be the 2003-2004 NBA Champs. :)
-
Anyway, I don\'t want to argue anymore in this thread... So let\'s just go back to basketball.
I think the Lakers have it locked... But I wanna see Detroit up there. :)
-
I haven\'t watched a minute of this playoffs. Judging by the last two posts though I guess I haven\'t missed much. Lakers are going to win again? Wow. Shocker. Maybe if Coby gets a little jail time the NBA can get a little more competition.
-
The next person to spell Kobe as, "Coby" is getting an iron spike through the cock.
-
I hope the Spurs can pick him up, they have the cap space.
-
If the Lakers win a championship, Kobe will stay in L.A. I think the people that will be gone this offseason will be Malone and Payton.
-
Dont be too sure, hes a person that loves to win and doesn\'t like controversy or people questioning him like they do in LA.
-
My thougths as well. He seems like a money chaser rather than a loyalist.

Damn did anyone see Jermaine O\'Neal\'s knee bend the wrong way, I think he hyperextended it. He came back and finished the game though after going into the locker for a few minutes. Pacers even the series at 2-2 headed back to Indiana. Austin Croshere was giving Detroit fits.
-
Tim Duncan should have been MVP again and heres why:
Everybody assumes the reason why Minnesota is doing so great is because of KG, but he had the help of Sam Cassel and Latrel Spreewell.
The closest thing TD had was Tony Parker and he didnt show up till the end of season and just started to become consistant and dominant.
Duncan IS the core of the Spurs, if any team relies on one player its the Spurs, which defines the Most Valuable Player.
With all the double teaming the Lakers had on Duncan he still managed to do better against the Lakers than KG did.
If it were going by statistics Jason Kidd should have gotten the MVP, and hes also more valuable to the Nets than KG is to the wolves.
KG had 16 technical fouls this season, come on, like thats doin any good for your team.
Hes a unbelievable player but I have to say, hes overrated.
-
I agree, Tim Duncan > Kevin Garnett.
-
are you kidding me!? Kevin Garnett > Tim Duncan
-
They\'re essentially the same player, however I give it to Duncan because he actually draws fouls.
-
More than anyone in the league.
-
He draws fouls, yet he can\'t shoot free throws. If you go strictly by statistics Jermaine O\'Neal was very close to being as good as Garnett. He only lacked the assists.
-
Duncan has lead his team to a championship, Garnett hasn\'t.
Duncan > Garnett
And don\'t argue supporting casts, because the Twolves and Spurs have had very similiar ones.
-
But Garnett is sexier, and seems like he would be a better lover.
-
Fisher is a dangerous bastard
-
Yeah, I\'ve always liked him. He\'s the Lakers \'hustle\' guy.
-
too bad they lost today :p
next game.

So who the hell are you cheering for SER? Whoever wins?

What Theomen said. Tough Titty. Yes. Something along those lines. Seriously, if you of all people start crying about Basketball refs, you need to be kicked in the chin repeatedly. And beaten in the face with a Trout. And a very large and smelly one at that.

It is now.
Yeah, I want to see Vapor complain about those officials now. Seriously, do it. I wanna see you bitch about the same officials that wouldn\'t stop giving the Lakers breaks in the 4th quarter. Seriously, do it. I wanna see what you got.

I knew the lakers would win. Now if the pistons can close out the game tonite I will be in heaven:D
-
Congrats to the Pistons on winning 2nd place.
They\'re a great defensive team, however the Lakers will still put up at least 80 points a game. Pistons better start learning how to put up some points, they won\'t beat L.A. with less than 70, thats a fact.
I\'m really looking forward to see what they\'ll come out with to defend Shaq.
Lakers get homecourt too... just doesn\'t get easier for the Pistons. :)
-
There\'s one difference you\'re missing there Di.
The Pacers play defense.
The Lakers don\'t.
Anyone else want nothing more than to see Kobe found guilty this summer?

Actually, I was kind of hoping that Achillies would come out and pretty much throw a spear through his chest. Man, Achillies is such a badass.
I personally thought the Eastern Conference Finals sucked, but that was just me...hopefully it WAS Defense, and not just shoddy play by the Pacers. Go Pistons.
See Yuz.

You haven\'t been watchin the Lakers lately, they have great D. They have 4 first team defensive players. just took a while to get it to work.
-
The thing is Vivi is they lack the intensity and the drive that teams like the Pistons have. It was amazing, in Game 6 against the Wolves they played with so much intensity that it really left the Twolves dazed and I don\'t understand why the Lakers don\'t play that "in yo\' grill" defense all the time.
-

I\'m not kidding, I called in before the season begun. Although I will admit I said it would be the Pistons v. Minnesota.... I still was hyping the Pistons even without Rasheed.
-
Its all hit and miss, everybody hypes their team. It would have been more impressive if you were just an avid fan or analyst.
Tipoff is in less than 2 hours. Pistons going DOWN. Oh this is going to be fun to watch.
-
Well i love kobe as player he is the best in the league. If the game is on the line I would want the ball in kobe\'s hands alone.
But I live in detroit and have to go for the home team. The wolves are not a great defensive team like the pistons and besides shaq that is there only big guy lakers have who plays defense. Malone is just tagging alone on the championship ride. Kobe and shaq are there best defenders.
And shaq is very slow and not good off the ball. Shaq will have to step out and guard memo and sheed it is going to be interesting.
Only person who defends in the low post for the lakers is shaq and being big and slow and able to get to the ball he will get called for the fouls.
Go pistons 8:06 I can\'t wait.
I hope the pistons win go detroit.
-
I haven\'t been this excited about a sporting event since the Niners were in the NFC Divisional Championship against the Bucanneers. :/
Lets go Lakers!

I disagree. I think Derek Fisher, Gary Payton and Medvedenko play very solid defense. I would feel more than confident with Malone covering Wallace. I have watched the Lakers eliminate Rasheed Wallace so many times, haha...
-
owned.
Pistons in 6.
Who said their defense wouldn\'t work against the Lakers? Lakers with 75, Pistons win by 12. (and this on a night when Shaq COULD hit his free throws)
-
Lakers were extremely flat. I could hardly stomach watching how flustered the Pistons defense was making them, but it was an awesome showing by the Pistons.
All they\'ve done now is awakened a sleeping dragon. :)
-
In the worst of situation vapor still keeps the faith.
The pistons exposed just how weak the lakers bench is I have always said that. The pistons have better one on one defenders than anyother team in the league.
Game 2 is going to be on fire
-
This will be an awesome series, that is one thing I can be assured of at this point. I think this whole:
2 games home - 3 games away - 2 games home
This setup seems to practically favor the visiting team. Three games on the road can be a huge mental strain. The NBA has so many quirky rules. I\'m going to still say Lakers in 6.
-
Wow, I myself am suprised at the turnout... I thought that this was going to be a sqaush, but it makes things interesting now. :)
It was funny seeing those ESPN announcers after all of them said the Lakers would take game 1 and the series... LOL
-
I love how when the Pistons win, its an upset. That part is understandable. But the Pistons didn\'t win with good defense and determination, they won because the Lakers played bad...
I don\'t know how the rest of this series will play out, but I can assure you, when Shaq has 34pts, 11rebs and Kobe has 25pts, the Lakers were not playing that bad. Defense wins championships, end of story. The world hates to see this happen because all year long they have dogged the Pistons.
I am not sure if the Pistons will win another game this series, but it is clear to me that one team represents what basketball should be, and one team represents what basketball is.
-
The Lakers played bad, but that\'s not because the Lakers didn\'t give it their all or anything. That\'s what the Pistons do. They make teams play bad. That\'s what good defense is. It\'s what I\'ve been watching all my life in basketball. Good defenses make other teams look bad.
Remember, Offense wins games, Defense wins championships.
-
-
i didn\'t catch the 1st half but from what i can tell in the 2nd half..it was only kobe & shaq makin\' shots..everybody else was just passin the ball around...to detroit\'s credit tho...their defense was frustrating the lakers...
-
Maybe I should have watched.
:thepimp:
-
Yeah really, the Staples center is filled with big boobs.
-
Haha... I was going to mention that. That was distracting. In a good way of course. :D

Phil jackson looks like a pornographic Mickey Mouse
-
Predictions for tonight anyone?
Here are two three possible out comes I see.
1. Lakers make correct changes and come out playing very competitive and a great classic game ensues.
2. Lakers\' Malone and Payton find the desperation and desire for their first NBA ring and destroy the Pistons.
3. Lakers make changes, but like trying to fix something that wasn\'t broke in the first place, they screw it up even more leading eventually to a game 1 result.
-
So in other words you\'re predicting that either the Pistons win by a lot, the Lakers win by a lot, or it\'s a close game? :p
-
Yeah, he pretty much listed every possible outcome.
-
Watching the game right now... ABC sucks.
-
3!!!!!!!!!!!
okay 2.1 left. OT????
edit. okay OT LOL!!
-
Kobe pulls another Miracle. Awesome.
I could not be more sick to my stomach.
See Yuz.
-
Awesome game....
-
A loss and OT win in LA. Im cheering for the Pistons.
-
Kobe Bryant is the best clutch player in the NBA. Reggie Miller\'s days are done.
If the Lakers can control the tempo like they did in overtime, they can take this series easily, however they need to keep up that intensity.
-
I was in the gym while watching the game, when Kobe hit that shot, I was very displeased. The people in the gym told me that was the loudest vulgarity anyone had ever heard.
-
Well, for those who thought the East team had no chance... I think the Pistons are doing a pretty damned good job. Just like ViVi said, a win and an OT loss.... well almost 2 wins. But yeah, this is exciting basketball. :)
-
When they let kobe get the ball I knew it was over. Kobe bryant is my favorite player but man I am all for my home team the pistons.
I knew he was going to make it. That killed the pistons there was nothing left after that just god awful.
-
Who cares about the game. Was the chick with the big tits there?
-
Tried of this shit. Commentators are bias, refs are bias, and about 9/10ths of the USA is bias toward the Lakers. As you can see, the Lakers are down by 6, Shaq gets it in the post, jumps and is not touched one bit... at all... not even a little... BY A MOTIONLESS rasheed wallace, foul is called...... Not that it wasn\'t the 4th or 5th time something like that happened during the game or anything, but the bottom line is, Shaq goes to the line and hits a FT. Now it\'s a 3 point game... not a 4 like it should have been. Pistons won that game and the series in my mind already..... but still... that game was stolen from Detroit and everyone is to afraid to admit it. Shouldn\'t have ever been like that. This series and entire officating crew is bullshit giving ever call from jesus to charles manson to Kobe and Shaq. I\'m tired of seeing the Lakers ruin basketball into an offensive game. I HATE LA.
-
At the end of regulation play, the idiotic commentators were debating whether Bryant\'s buzzer beater 3-pointer was the greatest buzzer beater in Laker history. Questioning whether it eclipsed Fisher\'s shot, and others from previous years. They neglected to mention that Bryant\'s shot wouldn\'t mean a damn thing if the Lakers didn\'t end up winning the game. They spoke as if the game was already over, when it was actually tied, with a 5 minute overtime period ahead.
I am so ****ing sick of the favoritism the Lakers get from the press, the officials, and every other know-nothing nimrod across the nation.
I predict that in a FAIR series, the Detroit pistons would eliminate the Lakers in six games or less. They very nearly won twice on the Laker\'s home court, which should be viewed as a disgrace by any true basketball fan who claimed to support Los Angeles. However, I believe the series is fixed, and David Stern\'s orders have already guaranteed another championship for the Fakers.
-
Next year guys, next year. These Lakers wont be together and a team with true sportsmanship will win.
-
Who says we have to wait for next year?
And I fully agree, the favoritism shown to the Lakers by the officials especially is awful. The foul calls down the stretch there were pathetic.
-
Why aren\'t there more people like you guys in the world.
Look, I know I come off like a little whining b#$#@ when the Pistons lose, but I know what I saw. A phantom call at the most crucial time in the entire game which sends Shaq to close it within 3. I won\'t even mention all the calls that go Bryant and Shaq\'s way during the game either.
Just one more comment: Anyone remember Shaq ripping down Ben Wallace and headlocking him to the floor. What did the commentators say directly following that action? That shouldn\'t be called a flagrant foul. Look I know diliberation when I see it, and that was it. If you do a role reversal and have Ben Wallace headlockinh Shaq to the floor, I bet you my life those refs would have called a flagrant foul on Ben.
-
^true... And they said he did it to "break his fall" and to me it seems he could have just landed on his damn feet. Shaq cant jump that high or far...
-
You\'re all babies... I\'m sorry, but I could hardly read through hardly any of these posts, just way too much crying.

You know Di, you\'re perfectly embodying the Laker way, and the Laker fan way. Overly confident and cocky, even when you have NO reason to be so. This series should be 3-0 right now. As it is, it\'s 2-1, and you just got your asses handed to you. 68 ****ing points.

Shocky, I\'m doing it intentionally just to piss you guys off, its funny how people only dedicate themselves to the loss of the Lakers, rather than the victory of the Pistons. I mean why would people show so much hatred to a team that "9/10ths of the country are biased for"?
As for the game, I honestly didn\'t get a chance to watch. I was at the gym and saw the score in the third quarter, and now I\'m going to read up on ESPN.com. From what I\'ve read so far the Pistons dominated the Lakers in every way possible. I am going to say that the Pistons have a commanding 2-1 lead, and I think Game 4 is the most critical for the Lakers at this point. I\'m going to predict if they lose game 4, they will lose the series.
I\'m tipping my hats off to the Pistons though, they are playing like they want the championship, and deserve it more than the Lakers. Gotta respect that.
-
All I have to say is that is Rip Hamilton was here, I\'d let him have his way with me. And if Detroit wins this series, I will forever be gratefull to them for beating the Lakers with good old fashion bad boy-esque hard nosed defense.
*high fives Bill Lambeer

All three games, Detroit looked like the better team... even in the Game 2 loss.
I think Detroit is the better team. But damn, who would have thought. Everyone was calling sweep even before the series began.

Pistons have so much better chemistry... The Lakers look like they\'re in a fog out there sometimes.
-
Just imagine how good they could be for years to come if Darko matures well.
-
Well I see us (Pistons) signing Memo and letting Rasheed go at seasons end and also have Darko take over starting center and move Wallace to the PF.
-
you really thing that Darko could play Center? And I don\'t know if Ben would be as defensivly dominant at the PF spot, but then again, you are the Piston fan.
-
I think they should keep what they have right now...Why change something if it works?
-
Bill Davidson could be the only owner ever to own two championship teams in one year. I assume they mentioned that on the little tv show, but I haven\'t watched a second of game.

The pistons are here because they got rasheed. Memo is garbage and darko will never amount to nothing. I just don\'t think darko has it. Everytime I have seen him in a game he has looked confused and out of sync.
The guy has not showed one reason why he should have gone second. Anthony is 50 times better than darko.
Rasheed has made the pistons defense even better and when it counts he steps up.
Anyways like I said all along the lakers bench is just not as good as the pistons bench. Shaq and kobe have to play so much defense on this team and come back and score all the points.
Another thing I have always said phil jackson is not a good coach. I mean I don\'t even think he has a play book. He does not draw up plays or make adjustments nothing. He has always had the luxury of having superstars.
-
Quddus and Square, you\'re both wrong for misinterpretting what Darko is. He was never expected to play well this year, he isn\'t NBA ready. He isn\'t strong enough yet and he doesn\'t know the game well enough. He\'s also only 18. He\'s prolly gonna have to go through a maturing period similar to Jermaine O\'Neal, who looked like absolute garbage his first few seasons in the league, but learned and matured, and look what he\'s become.
Darko will not start next year, I guarantee that. He\'s not ready, and especially with Larry Brown he will not be hurried into that role. But saying that he won\'t amount to anything right now is stupid. He\'s right on the course he\'s supposed to be on.
-
On top of that, I would be very surprised if the Pistons didn\'t resign Rasheed. Everyone wants a ring...once he gets one this year, you know he\'ll want another, and this team is truly in good shape. They\'ve got the best coach in the NBA IMO (and someone who can maintain that fire that \'sheed shows occasionally.)...I\'m not a stats person, but I\'d wager they have the best defense in the NBA...and with Rasheed Wallace they have a third scoring option. As much as I\'d love to see the Sixers sign a big man like Rasheed, I really think Detroit is where he fits best and that\'s where he\'ll stay.

Oh please shocky give me a break. He is not NBA ready then what the hell was he drafted for second place for? Anthony is a great player and will be a superstar something darko will never be.
And oneal was not garbage he just was stuck in portland and road the bench until he finally got his chance to shine in indiana.
Unlike darko who show no talent at all.
He is only 18 and plays like a 10yr old

His potential is through the roof. Only a select few like Joe Dumars can see that. It is hard for any Pistons fan to praise the choice of Darko when you see direct impacts from Anthony and LeBron. Then again, you have to ask yourself, who made it to the NBA finals?
If the Pistons can do what I want them to do, release memo and sign Rasheed, that would be a great thing. I would see Darko becoming the new Memo in that he gets playing time game to game backing up one of the forwards. Hopefully after 1 or 2 years of that, he will become a common household name. :)
I have faith in Joe Dumars and the Pistons organization. A man on his way to the hall of fame if his style continued, Grant Hill, is traded away for a couple of guys, one being Ben Wallace. Then, a move I couldn\'t even understand, Jerry Stackhouse, our leading scorer and the leagues gets traded for this guy who looks like a bum named Richard Hamilton. Now, he\'s my favorite player. He has just made solid moves in the past and I am putting my faith into Joe this time. The commentators who only talk about hyping up the Lakers even mentioned something about Darko being really good someday.

I mean from the day they drafted the guy I have seen nothing that warrants the choice.
square_marker you understand where I am coming from when you see melo and bron impact there teams right away. And not only that but damn show some type of NBA talent. The guy looks like he has no idea how to play the game.
I have confidence in joe D but I just have a feeling this will turn out to be a bad choice. The pistons are stuck with the guy and I for one hope he shows something next year especially if rasheed does not sign back with us.

Right, but the impacts meant nothing for their original teams. Detroit doesn\'t use their draft pick because he isn\'t ready, but they are in the finals. Melo and LeBron are playing golf somewhere. Bottom line, drafting Darko has not hurt the Pistons.

Your right, the city of Detroit does suck. Although what you don\'t realize is that the Pistons play in Pontiac, MI, about 35 miles outside Detroit. They named the arena, The Palace of Auburn Hills, because Pontiac has to much other bad references towards it.

Well Pontiac then. I find that sad on so many levels.

He was drafted on potential, the same way about every high school talent in the NBA is. He isn\'t strong enough, he isn\'t pollished enough, but he has shown considerable progress, something anyone on the team would tell you.
Besides, I think personally that Tayshaun Prince is a perfect player in that Detroit system already, and him combined with Carlos Delfino, who you\'ll see playing at SF next year, gives them plenty of talent at that position.
Also, everyone automatically assumes that Melo would make Detroit better. What are you basing that on? The defense would take a definite step down from Prince to Melo, and although Melo does score, he takes a lot of shots to do so. On a team with Rip, Billups, and Rasheed, those shots aren\'t as readily available as they are on a team with no other true scorer. If he were on Detroit Melo wouldn\'t be putting up close to the same numbers he is in Denver, and I\'m honestly not sure he would have helped. I think Prince\'s 10 ppg on a considerably higher shooting percentage than melo has and his great defense are a better fit for what Detroit needs. It\'s not like they\'re failing to win without Melo. It could have done all sorts of things to the chemistry and all of that. As much as I like Carmelo, I just don\'t think he\'d fit that bad boy persona like the other Pistons starters do. I also don\'t think Larry Brown would have started him, at least not to begin the season, even if they did have him.
And as for comparing O\'Neal and Darko, O\'Neal had 4 ppg on 10 mpg his rookie year, numbers that went down the each of the following years. Darko had 1.5 ppg on 4 mpg. Those numbers projected are about the same. The fact is, you make the excuse that O\'Neal was riding the bench though, when Darko is even more so.
And it\'s not like O\'Neal was an instant All Star in Indiana either. It took him a year as a starter before he started putting up good numbers, he had to mature into it. His first year he had about 12 ppg as a starter in Indiana.

If we need anyone from LAS VEGAS to defend the city of Los Angeles, I\'ll let you know. The issue is the fans, not the city. Faker fans, and in general all sports fans in LA are fundamentally fair weather fans. They will turn on their own teams in a second like a nest of cobras. It\'s almost as bad as the "sports fans" in the Bay Area; they are the absolute worst. There is no lower form of life than a Golden State Warrior fan.

Are you saying that Darko doesn\'t have talent?
Also, don\'t put it past Larry Brown not to start a rookie, especially for a guy like Melo that, granted, did get a year of College in, but\'s only what, 20 years old?
You as a Pistons fan should know that Larry Brown is a pretty old school coach. It\'s just goona take some time for Darko to get his feet under him. Evaluating Darko right now would be like evaluating Kobe Bryant or Kevin Garnett in their first years in the NBA straight out of High School. Those guys right now (despite the fact that I believe that Kobe Bryant is scum) are great basketball players, but it took time. Those guys were drafted 7 years ago, which is a pretty good maturing process, and both of them are only about 25, 26 years old. Basically, just give Darko some time to mature. I think you\'ll like the results -- besides, the whole big man plauge in the Eastern Conference should help him grow even faster.

Jamas knows what he is talking about. Larry Brown is very old school and against playing rookies even if they are ready. He likes to take a quiet approach to them and help them out more in weekly practices than rather giving them game time experience. In this way, they will be ready to compete right away without suffering major confidence woes like Kobe, Garnett, Harrington, O\'neal, and T-Mac had.

James may know what he is talking about but in a the real world there is noway melo would not start. He was such a huge player for the Nba. He brought in so much revenue for the NBA there is noway a guy huge as he was this season would ride the bench.
The guy took a nothing franchise and made it something and there already dubbing him and bron the next bird and magic.
There is not a chance he would not start.

I dont see why the Pistons wouldn\'t try to do everything in their power to keep Rasheed Wallace on their team after this season. He gave them such a big lift. I think they have only lost 12 or so games since he joined the team.
As for Darko, I think he needs a couple more seasons, guys like Sheed and Ben Wallace will be able to help him a lot because they are both very good players.

There is noway in god green earth carmelo anthony would have not started. Come on shocky the kid is awesome.
I being a detroit fan for one hope darko turns out to be good.
P.S. Shut up luke
You have no idea what Darko is or isn\'t right now. You haven\'t seen him play more than a couple of minutes at a time. It takes a bit to get into a game, and more importantly, to get used to playing big time games. Darko is coming from a completely different world. Don\'t forget, this is an 18 year old kid who knew nothing but Serbia until a year ago. He wasn\'t conditioned the same way a kid from America who knew the NBA was in his future might be. He had serious issues with strength. He was far too weak to be truly effective in the post. He has been putting on a lot of muscle, Ben Wallace has been helping him train. The Pistons will tell you he has made a ton of progress in practice this year, playing against the likes of the Wallaces. That is where you would really get a sense of how his skills are, NOT from a couple minutes at a time in a game.

The guy took a nothing franchise and made it something and there already dubbing him and bron the next bird and magic.
There is not a chance he would not start.
There are many things wrong with your assumptions that Melo would automatically make them better. No team in the NBA is based more on team chemistry than the Pistons. They are tough, gritty players, all of them, from Ben Wallace down low to Rip Hamilton, the "best conditioned man in the NBA". Carmelo would not have fit into that image as well. And besides, the chain of what if\'s continues...if they had Anthony, would they have traded for Wallace? And once again, Carmelo would have averaged if you ask me MAYBE 12 ppg on Detroit, if that. He is fed the ball in Denver and the offense goes through him. Even if Carmelo did start in Detroit, which I honestly do not think he would, the offense would definitely not work through him.
Carmelo would not start because Larry Brown is the coach of the Pistons, plain and simple. Larry Brown almost never starts rookies, especially at the beginning of the season. That doesn\'t have to do with talent level, it has to do with developing the kid fully and doing things the right way. Brown also really likes Prince, and Prince fits in well with the team. Melo may have started near the end of the year, but surely not for the whole year.
As for Melo taking Denver single handedly from no where and making them something, that\'s garbage. There are 5 starters on Denver, four of which were not playing for them last year. The only one that was, Nene, was a rookie last year, and has developed a lot more. Andre Miller, a great team PG was signed in the offseason. Voshon Leonard was added as well. Camby came back from injury. There is no way you can say it was Melo and Melo alone. The entire team was transformed. Unlike in LeBron\'s case, this was an entirely new team, not just a new player.
-
How did Wallace not get a technical after slapping Medvedenko\'s ass? Thats ridiculous.
-
he was just talking to the guy, saying good hustle or other generic compliment shit like that. For some reason Medvedenko got pissy...foreign bastard
-
No, he was getting in his face, and it was obvious he was trying to get under his skin.
Few more things... this is the first game I\'ve had on mute, while listening to music over it. Whoever is commentating alongside Al Michaels is the biggest moron, douchebag, who just states the most obvious of things. I get stupider just listening to the guy. In fact, ABC sucks ass in general. WHO HONESTLY THINKS THE, \'FLOOR CAM\' IS COOL? OH SHIT, LET ME SEE IF I CAN SEE SHAQ\'S BALLSACK THROUGH HIS SHORTS!
And Rasheed has found his fit in Detroit, he is just crying and throwing his temper tantrums left and right and the refs just sit there with their thumbs up their asses. I swear if I see the camera zoom in on Rasheed\'s frowning "oh shit I\'m about to burst in tears" face again, I\'m turning the f*cking TV off and killing a small animal.
-
kill a shrew
-
Ah, its Doc Rivers, I didn\'t know he could possibly be a worse commentator as he was a coach.
-
And this is the part where the Lakers f*cking self-destruct, Payton acts like a typical punk and throws an elbow. Then Kobe gets the same technical that could have been called on Wallace all night. And the Lakers are down 10 with less than five minutes.
*turns off tv*
If there is a hell, I\'m in it right now.

EDIT: The Pistons will win this series. Maybe if the NBA wasn\'t such a joke, and they kept the series the same, instead of essentially throwing away what was known as, "home court advantage" and giving the opposing team THREE consecutive home games, then maybe there would be some slight hope.
-
dude, don\'t bitch about that just take your loss like a man. Detroit should be closing out this series tonight if Kobe didn\'t hit the miracle 3. D-town has completly bitch slapped LA all series long. They could be playing at Shaq\'s house and they\'d still be up 3-1
-
Yeah... props to Detroit. They made the Lakers play their kinda game, and the Lakers will never readjust. Good job Pistons.

It\'s over....in 2 minutes. :p

Whatever makes you sleep tonight, man :-P
Personally, I thought the commentating was horrendous both ways. If Al Michaels wasn\'t riding Kobe Bryant\'s nuts throughout the entire series, I\'d probably see it your way, but that\'s not the case. Hell, if you want to blame an announcer, you could go ahead and blame Brent Musburger -- just be lucky he isn\'t doing it. Al Michaels really should stick to his sport -- Monday Night Football (Never really liked him there, either).
As far as I can see, though, the series is not over. I will never discount a team that\'s coached by Phil Jackson -- but it will be tough, no doubt about it.
See Yuz.

I have no idea why you turned the sound off, Vapor. Doc Rivers is the biggest Laker Fluffer I have ever heard. Even Chick Hearn was more level headed than him. At almost EVERY stop in play you can count on hearing Doc River\'s incessant analysis of "what the Lakers need to do at this critical point in the game." He has no interest in presenting even the simplist facade of being unbiased.
Regarding the game; to me it makes perfect sense that Detroit will win the championship. They have outplayed the Fakers from the beginning of the series. The only time they fell apart was during the overtime period of game 2. No fan should complain that their team is losing a seven game series because of officiating. If the game is close enough to be decided by bad calls, they have no business winning it anyway. Win decisively or not at all.

Doc Rivers is a robot.

Well I said it earlier in this thread, ABC SUCKS!

Hahahahahahahahahahahha!
I hope the Lakers get ANNIHILATED this next game. Because Malone and Payton are both sorry, non-contributing douchebags that don\'t deserve rings. On to the off season!
-
Jeez.... talk about fair weather fan ....
I remember the lakers coming back from 2-0, and everyone else should too. The Spurs humiliated them worse than the Pistons did.
-
Vapor, you keep talking about Sheed and his temper. What you don\'t hear is what he says to the refs. That is just his way of communicating. Have you ever heard him talk after the game to reporters, he is a very respectable educated player. He just got a bad rap in Portland. As for your crying about all the calls, take a look around. Shaq gets these "phantom" calls. One of which won them Game 2. The series should already be over bud. I know your not going to like hearing this, but the Detroit Pistons are better than the Lakers. Hands down, they are a better team. Sure Kobe and Shaq may be the best two players in the league, but without teamwork they are jokes. Kobe starts hogging the ball at the end of the game because he thinks he can take over and win it all for his team because he is just in it for the glory. Didn\'t you see him yelling at Devan George because he didn\'t set a pick for him near games end? Great teamwork.

I want to die.

I tried to watch last night, but it was boring as all hell. Basketball is 100% useless until the last 5 minutes.
Let me guess, the point spread at 5 minutes left was less than 6 points?
Wow.
And Swifdi Get over it. You always have the 49ers to kill yourself over in a couple months.
Speaking of that, let me guess your favorite baseball team. The yankees?

I don\'t think melo is a ball hog. And I think in the pistons system he would fit. They need a guy who is not afraid to score points. You saw what happen in the indiana series.
And as for him not making denver something. Shocky you know better than that. This team was not getting national games on tv last year. Nobody was even mentioning this team last year. Now they are selling out arena\'s.
And there core group of guys have always been there. With out melo on denver nobody would even bother discussing them. Anyways like you said we can debate the what if\'s all day.
Now as for the pistons we are going crazy over here in detroit. 1 more game and showtime is over. They refuse to give the pistons any type of credit and complain about there not getting foul calls.
The Lakers are bunch of cry babies. I know they want this to go back to hollywood on the grand stage.
I have sick feeling that this will be forced back to LA.

1. Chauncey Billups and Rasheed Wallace are doing a fine job of scoring on their own. Rip Hamilton ain\'t doin\' a real bad job, either. They have the ability to score points.
2. Their core groups of guys has always been there? Dude, shock just told you the guys that just joined the team and the players that have been injured that they got back this year. How can you debate that?
3. The way I see it, you\'re looking in hindsight. Larry Brown would NOT have used him the same way that Denver used him this year. Their offense goes through \'Melo, whereas if he were drafted by Detroit, there would be no way that the entire offense would go through a 20 year old.
See Yuz.

Oh please don\'t even try to sell that story. Without Carmelo Anthony the denver nuggets would be a dead franchise. Simple as that. And you know why the nuggest offense runs through anthony?
Because there team sucks. And if you think a future superstar such as carmelo anthony could not play on a team like the piston get out sell that story to somebody else.
The badboys offense ran through Isiah Thomas and look where that got them. If Isiah could do it why couldn\'t a guy like carmelo anthony who has endless talent play for the pistons?
-
You\'re missing the point.
I\'m not saying that he COULDN\'T do it, I\'m just saying that this year, he wouldn\'t have been given the opportunity by Larry Brown. I am not debating wether Melo\'s a talented player or not, I\'m just debating your reasoning for thinking that he would automatically start under Larry Brown, who traditionally doesn\'t even let rookies see the court.

How much have you watched Melo? I\'m a Syracuse fan, I watched him in the majority of the games he played in college. I also have followed his career with the Nuggets as closely as I could, and I just don\'t think he fits with the Pistons. Not every player works with every team, that\'s just the way it goes, and that\'s something that\'s true for a lot of players.
I never said that Melo was a ball hog, you did. I just think that he is a player who needs to get a relatively high number of shots to be effective, and I don\'t think he would get those shots in Detroit. Actually, I know he wouldn\'t, at least not as a rookie.
And last I checked they won the Indiana series in 6 games, and they\'re on their way to winning the finals. That was just a case of great defense being played against them, and Detroit playing their kind of game against it. Great defense will shut down even great offenses every time.
And as for him not making denver something. Shocky you know better than that. This team was not getting national games on tv last year. Nobody was even mentioning this team last year. Now they are selling out arena\'s.

Selling out arenas and getting nationally televised games is something completely seperate from winning games. Yes, Melo was the reason that their attendence was up and they had more national games and overall revenue, but that doesn\'t mean he\'s the reason they\'re winning. Being discussed and being successful are different things.
The fact is, that core group has not been there. 4 of 5 starters on the team didn\'t play last year. Melo was drafted this year, Camby and Leonard were injured last year, and the year before that Camby was a Knick and Leonard wasn\'t a starter. Miller, a former all star, was signed during the off season. Last I heard, he has a bit of talent too. Nene was drafted last year, and has really contributed. The core has been in place for years? Way to just illustrate your ignorance on the subject.
And as for Melo not being able to do it, it\'s just like James said. He could, but it\'s not a guarantee, and it would not happen this year. Larry Brown is hesitant to give rookies much playing time at all. If you think he\'d run the offense through one, you\'re insane.

LOL too funny
I just feel that the pistons passed up on a superstar. We have not had a true superstar since thomas.(hill was never a superstar)And I feel that melo will be one of the greats in the NBA and having that guy on are our roster would not hurt.
-
Hill was a superstar, he was an overhyped one at that.
-
I\'d consider Ben Wallace a superstar. He won Defensive POTY twice in a row and brings down boards like nobodies buisness. Its not uncommon for him to get 15-20 rebounds in a game.
I also think that Rip Hamilton may be developing into a star, I don\'t know about a superstar yet, but he sure looks good knocking down damn near every shot.
-
Yeah, Big Ben is a superstar. Not only is he a defensive GOD but he is wll recognized. I also think Rip will be in the Reggie Miller area of stardom, not the biggest star in the league but well recognized.
-
Its great that Ben is a defensive master, because he is quite possibly the worst shooter in the NBA.
-
I went to a Pistons game earlier this year. I suggest anyone who thinks Wallace can\'t shoot at all should go watch him warming up with like 2 or 3 other teammates out there. He went 17/23 from downtown. True he can\'t do jack during gametime, but good lord, when he is relaxed! I suppose that holds true for all NBA players with the exception of Shawn Bradley. Poor guy needs an assistant to guide his gumpy hands while tying his shoe laces.

Peja hit like 67 out of 70 from 3 during practice once.

I Just did and grant hill was a great player on route to becoming a superstar.
You of all ppl should no the difference.
He got injured in his prime. Could he have made it to superstar status who knows.

Why would I of all people know the difference?
And how are these stats not those of a superstar?
PPG...REB...AST
20.....10.....7
21......9......7
21......8......7
21......7......6
26......7......5
He is a 6 time all star, has been named to the All NBA first team, has started the all star game and led the league in all star voting on several occassions...what more do you want from the man? He was widely recognized as one of the very best players in the NBA during those years.

I\'d stop complaining. If it weren\'t for awful calls, the series would already be over, 4-0 Detroit. You got bailed out by the whistles in game 2, and you know it.
-
How ironic is it that Laker fans are bitching about the refs? It\'s pathetic, it truly is.
Now, all of the sudden, it\'s some international plot by the NBA to get ratings and have the Lakers lose at the same time. Bullshit.
The Lakers have been getting every call they\'ve ever wanted for the past four years. What in the hell are you complaining about?
See Yuz.
-
Grant Hill was headed for the frickin hall of fame. He was a superstar very easily. At a time he was among the top 5 in the NBA. If he didn\'t get himself all messed up with his injuries, the Orlando Magic would be a very different team.
As for Ben Wallace: So what, he grabs a lot of rebounds and has a lot of blocks but has no points to show for it. What you don\'t see is how he affects the game. The second he is put in the other team is forced to adjust their gameplay. It is the little things Ben does like draw extra attention which makes Detroit and him so good. The opposition focuses where Ben is on defense and sometimes "forgets" so to speak, where the other 4 memebers are. He is an impact player and impact players have impacts within games. Funny how superstars make impacts within games too.
Lakers get every call possible? That is the best excuse that the LA fans can come up with. I swear if they weren\'t so frickin stupid they wouldn\'t have to cry over these calls. Throughout the better half of 4 years, the only team to get calls on a consistant basis was LA. They even do it now in this series and ya\'ll blind if you can\'t see that. Shaq and Kobe are like kids in a toy store picking out which fouls they want. It must be god - awfully hard for LA fans to accept that Detroit is the better team, otherwise they wouldn\'t make such cartoons and bitch constantly on their radio shows. Shocky has it right anyway. The series should be over, Kobe\'s game two heroics shouldn\'t have even have happened.
-
Whats amazing is that the Lakers have been toted as this "bandwagon" team, when easily the Pistons fanbase has probably quadrupled over the last two weeks.
-
That may be but I have always been a Pistons fan. I remember being 5 years old and watching the Pistons win their second of 2 titles against Portland.
-
I admit that I have become a Piston bandwagon fan, even though they were about the only Eastern team besides the Cavs that I rooted for. But then again, if any eastern team beat the Lakers in the Finals, I\'d be a big fan of theirs.
-
bandwagon fans are ones that jump off while their team is down, much like u did Swif.
Dont ever post that pic again....
-
I am not a Pistons fan, but I enjoy watching a basketball team destroy their opponent by playing in a cohesive, focused, self confident manner. Most of all, I like seeing them play as a TEAM, not 2 hot doggers with a back up cast of scrubs.
Right now the Pistons are playing as a TEAM, and the Fakers haven\'t played that way since the 80s.

It\'s a truly sad thing when someone starts insulting the fans of a team because there is no way to justify saying anything bad about the team itself. Di, you\'re beaten, give it up. Detroit fans are 100 times better than LA fans anyway. They are truer, and yes, there are many more bandwagon LA fans.
And yes, Detroit, the NBA champs :) Defense and heart do win championships after all. Too bad the Lakers have neither.
-
The Pistons played well... props to them.
Wonder what\'s up next for the Lakers next year? You guys think Kobe is leaving?
-
Yeah, but now that I think about it I dont want the Spurs to sign him. He isn\'t a team player and these finals showed that teamwork is everything.
-
Same here ViVi, just because he\'s got skill Im not gonna start rooting for this guy to come to the Spurs like he\'s God. Theres no doubt he\'d make the Spurs better but man I really dont like him.

Who gives a rats ass about grant hill we just won the NBA FINALS.
And ppl are going crazy here. I hurried up and got home because the traffic out there is crazy.
-
I don\'t see how Ben Wallace isn\'t a superstar. I think any player that can impact a game as much as he can is a superstar. 2 Time Defensive player of the year, started in the All Star game last two years, I thought he deserved the Finals MVP. Just because hes not an offensive juggernaut doesn\'t mean hes not a superstar.
-
He\'s not a superstar because he\'s the worst free throw shooter ever. :p
-
I wonder where Swifdi is :p
I have to point this out, Larry Brown told his team that they could defend the Lakers because they dont like to pass the ball. Look what happened.
The Lakers fall due to their selfish play.... I love it
