That was the most exciting thread this week. People were arguing, and making valid points, even some flaming was going on... Should have at least let it hit 6 pages...
I\'m just suggesting we loosen our trigger fingers a bit.
-
I didn\'t close it, but isn\'t smoking pot just as illegal as downloading a song on the internet? OR modding your PS2?
No one starts threads complaining when those threads get locked.
-
I call that a product of too much time and nothing too do. The thread was not even that bad. Far worst has been posted. I could see if it gave you step by step instruction on growing your stash.
Come on ppl lighten up with the close threads. I think we are seeing far too many close threads lately.
-
Vid, I can\'t tell if your being serious or joking... If you\'re serious, I must say that that wouldn\'t be an issue.
The thread was just fun. We need threads like that...
-
yeah, and its not like were taking pictures of us smokin, like a picture thread that stayed open
-
I don\'t know who closed it. Heck, an administrator and another mod even posted in it.
I have to catch another plane to CHarlotte in 3 hours so I guess I\'ll see if the pot heads win out in a couple days.
I wonder if this thread will get locked too?

If it does, someone is gonna get whooped.

I will start a thread on murder. I think that\'s illegal too? We\'ll see if that one gets closed. :)
-
I didn\'t even think about reading the thread until I saw the threads and complaints about it being closed. I just saw the word "marijuana" and wasn\'t at all interested. Don\'t know who did it either.
-
It\'s funny how threads can be closed, and no one knows who did it. If the mods would just adopt a general policy of ALWAYS adding a final post indicating WHO closed the thread and WHY, this problem would not occur. It would also instruct everyone on which threads are acceptable, and which are not.
This is an issue that was raised in the recent mod election, but I guess not everyone was paying attention...
-
I could easily find out who closed it, but who it was isn\'t what makes a difference here. I suppose you could argue that stating why is a necessity, but then again, that really isn\'t important either simply because if one mod doesn\'t like a thread and the thread is suddenly killed, then that\'s that. For the most part, if threads are closed and there\'s a debate as to why, it\'s usually brought up in the staff forum for discussion anyhow. However, asking why is not totaly out of the question from regular members as you can see with this thread, but one should not expect an answer anymore explanatory then "because we can."

I always add a final post so you would know if it was me...

Oh thank you Lord Mod for granting us the right to question your motives.
Why it\'s important to know who closed a thread: So the thread closer can be held responsible for their actions. Many thread closures are warranted, and even those that are correctly closed may be disputed by certain members. However, whether the closure was a reasonable and correct action, or an unnecessary and irrational action, either way the closer should take personal responsibility.
Why it\'s important to know why the thread was closed: If a mod closed a thread, it must be because they found it unacceptable. Unless you want more threads of the same kind posted later, you need to instruct people on why it was closed. If you want to post a reason like "because we can" then that\'s fine as far as I\'m concerned. It will be duly noted by all participants. It doesn\'t make sense to ignore the issue and hope no one asks.
How much effort does it take to make one quick post stating who closed it and why?

Closed because Paul2 added a worthless post...
:p

I don\'t close too many threads. I guess I\'m too damn liberal..
But I would certainly add a last post.
Well, unless I just feel like being a penis that day.. It happens.... ;)
-
So that narrows it down to Ryu, mm, or ooseven
BURN HERRRRRRR!!!!!!!!
ps- I like the idea of a final post from a mod. It would also tell us lowly members what was done wrong so it won\'t happen again.
-
Ummmm...there are alot more who could\'ve locked it than the ones already mentioned here...
Guess we\'ll never find out unless he/she comes forward...
