money makes the world go \'round
IGN believes that EA was able to strike a deal with Microsoft to lower the manufacturer\'s licensing fees for those particular games. Another possibilitiy is that it\'s working on a new monetary package to pay for online play. As for content, IGN believes Microsoft will share its data with EA.
this is bad for everyone, gamers included
oh, and in other related news
The console is still nowhere near making a profit for Microsoft though, as the Xbox division reported a $209 million loss
what other company can/would sell a product for 3 years and steadily lose billions?
-
It\'s about time EA joins the dark side!
-
this is bad for everyone, gamers included
Why? The other boards I visit have lots of Xbox Live players complaining that EA won\'t go online (for the Xbox). I\'m sure they\'ll be glad when this happens. What\'s the bad part?
-
Come on, man. This is mm. Do you really need to ask? :p
-
Just wanted to see if he\'ll post a reason or say something like "If you have no clue by now then you need to go shoot yourself and die."
-
this is bad for everyone, gamers included
I think what you meant to say, is that it\'s bad for PS2 Fanboys. Cause honestly I do not see how EA supporting XBOX live is a bad thing. The only rational reason one would complain about something that benefits gamers, is because it\'s being supported on a competing console.
-
open your eyes re-read that quote
fanboy? wtf is this? 1998?
/me looks at xbox with dust on it, yep
-
Not all gamers are like you mm.Many XBOX owners do play games on their XBOX.Online gaming included.
-
me looks at xbox with dust on it, yep
Then why did you purchase one, I certainly didn\'t
-
I believe he is a collector.
-
Just so everybody understands why mm said what he did:
"Another possibilitiy is that it\'s working on a new monetary package to pay for online play."
Charges outside of the payment for LIVE. EA still wants a big sum of money of their own out of the deal.
[EDIT] - .. That\'s how I understand it, anyways.
-
collector, aye
nvidia256, since you dont own an xbox, please stfu
nu, your close
-
Probably its the fact that developers these days tend to follow the "money bringing" logic than trying to help the gaming industry evolve.
edit:For example XBOX would have been a dead console if the creator was a different company than MS but XBOX still exists and sells becuase MS has the money to throw away.Developers spend money to support a "dead" console as much as the ones that do well and help the gaming industry while developers could have concentrated their efforts somewhere else.
-
I would suspect EA would charge for updates, like new player rosters or add-on levels or missions. Several publishers do this already.
If they charge a monthly subs. on top of what MS charges then they can go screw themselves.
-
nvidia256, since you dont own an xbox, please stfu
Just because I personally do not own one, does not mean I don\'t play XBOX, We have one here in the Entertainment room.
So please stop the assumptions or STFU.
EA still wants a big sum of money of their own out of the deal.
What did you expect it\'s EA we are talking about, other than there sports titles, they think that there god\'s when it comes to making games(quite the contrary)
-
EA has dominated the sports genre for how long now?
and microsoft abandoned all thier 2004 sports titles?
i wonder why
-
There\'s no question EA\'s sports is a solid contender, the only other Sports developer that gave EA a run for there Money was SEGA SPORTS back in the Dreamcast Day\'s.
Now the Dreamcat mm is a real colectors item, not the XBAUX lol
-
you mean THE solid contendor
sega even admitted in a press release that they got owned
DC a collector\'s item?
lol, try my NEO-GEO, or even my TG-16 cdrom, or even my front loading sega cd. i can get another dreamcast for 5$ from any consignment shop
-
mm, at the height of the dreamcast, Sega was pumping out some sweet Sports titles, come on! My personal fav was virtual tennis, although Sega did screw up big time with there 2k baseball series.
My point was that since EA would not support Dreamcast, SEGA was forced to develop triple AAA sports titles, and they did with a few.
Also Dreamcast in the Next 5 years will be considered a valuable collectors Item. Bank it....
-
no way, they gave the bitch away for free remember?
the phrase "collector\'s item" denotes rarity
every garage sale has a DC in a box somewhere.
i don\'t see anyone paying big bucks for a SNES, or an atari 2600
-
EA can kiss my ass. They have fell of there game.
The madden series has fell off if you ask me.
I hate the 1 trick touchdown catches that pleague the system.
Pass defense is the worst in madden on deep coverage.
That is why your able to get off those easy 1 play 70yrd Td catches all the time. I hate the running in madden. I just have so many complaints about madden.
NBA live continues to suffer. They spend so much time adding all these modes to madden they just look over NBA LIVE.
Only Ea sports game I enjoy is NBA streets. The game is pure fun. NFL streets i do hate that game I did not like it at all.
-
I just bought a 3rd DC...
-
EA sells more copies of madden every single year

No idea what you\'re talking about dude, that series has done nothing but improve... Franchise Mode and Online is in a whole another league compared to other football games that can\'t compare to Madden.
-
^^^sorry..that series is nothing but straight up rehashes year after year..espn was the the only title that made real improvements last year...and please don\'t say that madden had that "whatever mode" where you point to blockers to make them block & such..

Now now mm, I would say dominated. Visual Concepts / Sega Sports has put our great titles in the sports of basketball and hockey for the last two years easily destroying EA.
EA has a great adverstizing though. ESPN\'s formal Edge NFL Matchup is now ESPN\'s EA Sports NFL Matchup yet they sponser Sega Sports. I would watch out for ESPN NFL 2005, ESPN NHL 2005, ESPN NHL 2005 though. I think this might be the year madden fans get fed up. ESPN NFL 05\' seems to be bringin\' all that and the kitchen sink this year. Of course I will still probably get Madden anyway. :) I hear they are holding some big news on the game waiting for E3. Perhaps the hit-stick was to get ESPN to release some information?
-
MM a thought by now that you would have learned a thing or 2. Guess I was wrong. I have been gone for a year and your still talking the same crap. Go to school, read a few books. Maybe one day youll be smart enough to understand why the world is round.
-
or why your mom owes me money still
i\'ll be over later to collect, thanks
