Title: Searching for family members.
Post by: GigaShadow on April 28, 2004, 09:16:41 AM
For the past month I have been trying to located my maternal grandfather.  My mother last saw him when she was approximately 6 years old so I started with little to no information about him.  I used a locating service and did some research on my own and have hit a dead end.

He apparently lives in Oregon, but I think he is living with his daughters family as the last names are different.  They have an unlisted phone number so I can\'t call.  So basically, I am going to Fed Ex a letter tomorrow and hope for the best.  Has anyone else tried searching for lost relatives?  Any success?

Talk about frustrating... the funny thing is I have phone numbers for all the neighbors, but not their house.  I don\'t think it would be appropriate to call some stranger and ask them to run next door and see if he is there.

I\'m adopted, and have no interest in finding my birth parents.

My sister, on the other hand, will be searching her birth parents out pretty soon I think.

It\'s a really long, hard process.

Good luck Giga.

Luke: Is she your biological sister?  If so, will you use the results of her research?

I think I\'m adopted, because I look nothing like my parents and I found out my sister is not my real sister. First my mom told me she was married to a man and had Miranda(my sis) but they divorced. But then I found out from my sister that my mom just got knocked up by a married man....

Heres a pic of me next to my dad:

My best friend is adopted and she\'s going to search for her biological father. She hates her biological mother. I\'d like to help her find her father.

what color are your moms?  If blue, and freshman bilogy is remembered correctly, I don\'t think it\'s possible for both parents to have blue eyes and a child with brown, as blue is the dominant trait, and to have blue eyes, all for allels have to be blue, so they won\'t have a brown gene.

This is a sad thread. If i found out now that my parents etc. werent my real parents then id wig out. My cousin (well not really) found out late (16) that his dad (my uncle) wasnt his real dad. So she took full custody of him and then made him hang out with his real father.

One day when he flew to cali to visit his real dad his mom killed herself and well, that was pretty ****ed up.

Stupid biological/fake parent shit.

meh...

Here is who you would need pictures of;

Your Grandfather (Both sides) picture.
Your Grandmother (Both sides) picture.
A Brothers/Sisters (Both if possible) from both sides picture.
Your Mom picture.
Your Dad picture.
Your Brothers/Sisters picture.

Then you could basically prove it just by looks alone.

Everyone says my dad looks like my older identical twin...but I do want to find my mom\'s biological parents.

She was given up for adoption at the age of 5.  The family she went to was abusive and nearly killed her and her brother(biological).

UPDATE:

I spoke to my grandfather for the 1st time last night.  My sister in law is a genealogist and tracked down his syblings via the 1930 census.  Then she checked the Social Security Death Index and found out his older brother died last year and found the name of his widow and her phone number.  I called her and an hour later he called me.  Turns out he lives in ID and not OR.  We talked for over an hour and I must it was one of the best and most meaningful converstations of my life.
