-- Computer Games Magazine December 2003
A Game based on real life firefights in Iraq, that happend in some cases only weeks before hand.
is it right to profit from the Pesonal Tragedy of Fallen US/ UK service men & women… not to mention the untold Iraqi civilian deaths ?
*edit*example of a NEW mission from Kuma Wars
Featured Mission:
Mission 6 - Fallujah Police Station Raid
In a ferocious assault foretelling April\'s bloody insurrection, insurgents attack a Fallujah police station, killing 17 Iraqi police officers and releasing some 87 prisoners. Thats not right... we\'re not at war for entertainment
-
I don\'t care that they make a game about it but not now. Maybe 8-10 years from now to let this blow over but it is just too hot of a debate and political climate that this would just make things worse.
-
I really don\'t see the problem with this... If anything it will make America\'s youth more interested in the war and what is going on... Overall there is no real negative aspect.
-
WAY more people died in WWII and they seem to have a new WWII game every other month.
What is the statute of limitations on profiting from someone else\'s tragedy? News networks do it everyday.

that\'s true,..but we don\'t even know the true outcome of the war yet..it\'s better to let history present itself then wait a few years then make a game about it...

I see no real problem with it. Our own government does it with that one game. Americas Army, or something like that. Like someone else said. Look at the numerous games about WWII, That one game based on desert Storm...etc..etc..
"We" as a whole are constantly profiting on someone else\'s tragedies and misfortunes.

true but we already know the outcome of those events already right? it\'s no big deal to me i just feel they sholud wait for the outcome of this whole scenario before they try to make a profit from it...

Thats why it gets updated monthly. How whatever turns out is simply a moot point.
Would it make you feel better if it wasn\'t for profit?
This country was born on the almighty dollar, raised on the almighty dollar and continues to thrive because of the almighty dollar. Regardless of the fact that it cause\'s most of the problems in life other than religion, it is the American way no?

So your saying it\'s wrong, but since it\'s tradition it\'s ok? Sounds iffy to me, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
-
oh ok i didn\'t read the fact that it would be updated..lazy me..;) and no tsina i could care less if they make money from it i said that not knowing about the update procedure..so it\'s all flavor....
-
Phil, Im not saying its wrong at all. Unless you aren\'t talking to me. :)
-
Sounded like you meant that you were against what the dollar does but since the country was raised on it, it was acceptable. I reread it and figured out what you meant. Although I\'m still against it :)

I\'m not so comfortable playing through something that\'s going on as we speak. A game where when soldiers on my team die, it might represent kids I know today in the military or someone who just died in real life last week, that seems disrespectful to me.
But I\'m cool with the game being made. Others might like it - it is an intriguing premise. I\'ll just play something else, that\'s all.
