I think the guy in the 2nd pic might be the main character, not sure though.

This game will be great no doubt, I would like to see some normal daytime screens though instead of sunset/dusk shots.

Yea I\'m glad it\'ll be current too, I mean love GTA3 and GTAVC but I want a current one. I never did finish GTA3 but I\'m thinking of picking it back up and doing it. I did beat VC though. I just hope it has better controls for flying, though.

Tommy was gay. "The Guy" was better IMO.
I know there are going to be people who will get all flustered over the lack of mafia emphasis on this game but I think the whole Mennace 2 Society thing is pretty kool looking. They even have that guys draws hanging out:laughing:. Bustin up G\'s in the hood couldnt get more interesting.
The level of insanity that could be implemented into this game is just interesting to me. There are a lot of places this could go. Of course this is only 3 screens and we dont have too many clues as to how the rest of the game will look.
Meh. It has my attention any way.

Sorry to DBL post but the only thing that im concerned about is how far this game is going to push the envelope. I mean, a lot of people think black people get too touchy on some issues but i mean if they have the health packages looking like Harolds Chicken boxes then im going to be pissed. (eventhough i guess it could be pretty damn funny depending. Too much to get into.)

Where did I read that Larenz Tate was doing some voice acting for this game? If he is the main character then that will be the greatest thing ever.

Holy crap, if Larenz Tate was in this game, that freaking would rule. It would be nice if they could throw Chris Tucker in, but maybe he\'s too Hollywood now?
Anyway, that second pic is supposed to be Watts, so obviously this game is set in the real world. I never played the Vice City, so I don\'t know if that was really set in Miami or not.

Yea it\'s weird, VC is like set 10 years after GTA3 but yet it\'s back in time. And yes VC is set in Miami. I love grand theft auto, just as long as they keep up the good work, I\'m in for as many as they want to keep pushing out.

They need a new engine for #5. They can\'t milk this one much more before the series goes stale.
I\'m not as excited over this as I\'d thought I\'d be. I\'ll wait for some reviews (somehow predict many will say it\'s more of the same).

Well, they could milk the engine for one more run, I mean it\'s a good engine but I would like it if they didn\'t.
Yea I would go for it on PC too probably, but if it\'s like VC, it\'ll take a year for them to port it. Or if it\'s like GTA3 it\'ll take them less time to port it but end up screwing up the port.

As Skyrider said, it was a prequel to GTA3.
Vice City was set in 1986, GTA3 was set in the late 90\'s-early 00\'s I think.

Plot Summary from Gamespot:
Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas...a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs and corruption. Where filmstars and millionaires do their best to avoid the dealers and gangbangers.
Now, it\'s the early 90s. Carl\'s got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster.
On his return to the neighborhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets.
So it turns our that San Andreas is a STATE and not just a city. This means the game might be HUGE.

General
- The game is more serious than the others, but the elements of comedy are still there.
- A full staff of reasearch personnel at Rockstar have been studying Las Vegas, San Diego, and Los Angeles for months to ensure that they truly capture the feelings of these cities.
Location
- The game will not take place in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Las Vegas. It will take place IN ALL THREE as well as the countryside in between.
- Los Angeles will be called Los Santos, San Francisco will be called San Fieero, and Las Vegas will be called Las Venturra.
- Each city is about the same size as Vice City.
- Not all cities will be open at the start of the game.
- The entire game will be about four to six times as large as Vice City.
- San Fierro (San Francisco) will have hills. This city is more driving based.
- You can drive from LA, through the countryside, up a mountain, into San Fran, and onto Las Vegas.
- Driving through the desert won’t be empty and plain with a couple cacti...it will be vibrant and alive with weird things to see.
- There will be a lot more buildings with open interiors.
Graphics
- The graphics engine has been tweaked. Smog will be present in LA, and real-time reflections on cars, windows, and mirrors, as well as new techniques like radial lighting, which allows for more realistic shadowing, and soft-shadow lighting for interior levels will be present.
- Everything in the game now has independent models for day and night to give better lighting and shadowing.
- The game will have ragdoll physics, or “impact animation” in Rockstar’s words.
Vehicles
- As for vehicles, there will be pimped-out lowriders, and 90’s versions of some GTA3/VC cars will return.
- There will be bicycles.
Story
- Characters from the past will return.
Gameplay
- In the Las Vegas city, you will be able to buy and build a casino - and then run it.
- You can then gamble your money in the casino.
- Your character can dual wield pistols and potentially other weapons.
- You need to eat to retain your stamina. If you eat too much fast food, you become fat and pedestrians mock you for being fat. You also run slower. To remedy this, you can go to a gym to exercise.
- You can now rob homes. The robberies will require skill and planning, however.
- You can recruit gang members and use them to do four person drive-by’s. (seen here)
Weapons
- The choice of weapons will match the time in which the era of the early 90\'s.
Artificial Intelligence
- Enemy/pedestrian AI will be greatly revamped and they will think more logically. You can\'t beat someone to death in broad daylight and not have people notice and react.
- Your enemies will be smarter, which will make robbing houses take a lot of skill.
Music
- There will be a rap station, but there will be a variety of other stations as always.
This game is looking/sounding SO good.

God damn spudz, being a black man gives GTA a bad image... in a game where you are rewarded for killing pedestrians and cops, you\'re worried about a black main characted hurting it\'s image? I can\'t believe you sometimes, maybe you should pass on this game and wait until you can play as a Nascar watching KKK member and lynch some coloreds.

BTW, Lord willing this game will have ALL of my favorite early-mid 90\'s west coast rap songs prominently displayed in cutscenes and on radio stations. If not just for my own enjoyment then to piss off the rap haters.

Alright, if he was white and listened to rap and talked all getto and shit then I still wouldn\'t want to play as him. It would be even gayer if he was white and did all of those things, like Eminem. I know it sounds like I\'m stereotyping but if a GTA game is based around a black guy in the getto that\'s whats going to happen. White poeple can just be as annoying.

^^^So what? SURPRISE, Some black people in the ghetto listen to rap music. I\'m glad that they are trying something new as opposed to making all of the games based on the mafia.
It just makes no sense to say you don\'t want the main character to be such-and-such because you don\'t like ______ music. Especially in a game like GTA where you would have to hear it for maybe 30 seconds, in total, while you are switching between radio stations.

I know all the stations cant be all rap because 1) rockstar wouldnt do that. If you had 10 rap and r&b stations then that would be a stupid move and they have always put diversity in their music depite the location etc. Not only that, but considering this map is going to be larger than even vice city, i cant imagine that the whole thing is a ghetto.
And all that mafia shit was getting boring anyway. Tommy Vercetti was a lame character IMO (and its not because im black). Id much rather see "the guy" from GTA3 than vercetti.
So for you spudz and zipcrash, just calm the **** down and stop assuming that the whole thing is going to be "ghetto fabulous."

God damn I\'m liking the look of this game. For some odd reason, the graphics remind me of the \'Friday\' movies, maybe it\'s just the breaking into the house pic, I expect to see a dude in the bushes trying to take a shit.
