An update of your OS may have detected the piracy copy and make your machine run improperly after the reset.

LOL, that\'s BS. If you get an ISO or BIN Image of windows xp there is no difference between it and the Retail licenced version. ANyone who pays retail price for Windows XP Pro is getting screwed right up the ass . Did you pay for your full version of XP PRO mm? I know I sure as hell didn\'t and never plan to, even Longhorn will never see my wallet. Untill MS prices there OS\'s accrodinly, people are always going to flock in by numbers for pirated versions.

Do you have the Corporate edition SP1? Don\';t worry whatever issue you are experiencing has nothing to do with your copy of XP, unless you used a half-assed non verified copy of XP.

Expect for the CD key.....

It could be an update, like everybody else says. I don\'t blame you for using a pirated copy. Gates overcharges for all his products.

Guys use the X***** CD keys, Now for SP2 I have no idea how that is going to work out. Also SP2 is crap, MS went and intergrated lot\'s of copy-right protection stuff in there. I need to read up on it, in the process.

i would never use a pirated OS, it runs ur whole computer - it could easily communicate things to microsoft without u knowing, i woudnt risk it

So you\'d rather MS empty your account for a copy of XP PRO

PS2 it\'s not true, the difference between a perfect copy is 0
It\'s the cd key, which can be a problem. However if you have that basis covered, your perfectically fine. Heck I have been running XP PRO for 4 years now, with 0 validation problems.

Just for the record, keep up the piracy talk and you\'ll eventually get hit with a ban.
:)

(That goes out to Nvidia)

I just meant, don\'t post things relating to piracy, as in the sense - do not tell Vivi how to defeat piracy protection in open forum. Sorry if I came off vague, bad day at work.

Re-reading my post, I see how it came off and I apologize. Like I said above, I just meant don\'t tell people how to defeat it..etc.

Anyone who pays full retail is indeed getting screwed.  You can still get it a lot cheaper legally, such as through your school or buying a legal copy on Anandtech forums (people are always having extra licences at work).

$136 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=37-102-143&depa=0) is definitely justified for a stable OS that controls your whole computer.
