So.... I\'m going to see Van Helsing in a few hours. Looking forward to it. Not expecting some cinematic masterpiece or anything.
What summer movies you all looking forward too?
Make fun of me if you want but I really like the Harry Potter movies, and The Day After Tomorrow looks cool as hell.
-
Troy
Shrek 2
The Day After Tomorrow
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
The Terminal
Spider-Man 2
The Bourne Supremacy
I, Robot
King Arthur
The Village
The Garden State
Collateral
That\'s all I could think of.
-
The machinist assuming it gets released. :(
-
The Bourne Supremacy
Shrek 2
Day After Tommorrow
And though I know it\'ll be cheesy in many parts, Spiderman 2.
-
What\'s that one called coming out by M. Night. Shamlayn (sp?)
-
I don\'t know about I, Robot.
I was excited about it but, I don\'t know... Not a big Will Smith fan.

The Village. It\'s on my list.
-
Should be AC considered as a summer movie? ;)
King Arthur.
-
Troy
Spider-man 2
The Day After Tomorrow: This looks like its awesome but i could see them do a Deep Impact and have all the action in about 10 minutes. But well hope for the best. Plus, if uv seen the previews, that one reporter is talking and hes right next to a tornado. Cant really do that because teh tornado would suck the breath out of him. But im optimistic that it will be good
-
Man you guys actually watch all the crap HOLLOYWOOD pumps out. Don\'t get me wrong Holloywood puts out maybe 3 good films a year, but RYU you like that harry potter stuff?
Is it me, or has the quality in films degraded rapidly in the last 10 years. What happed to people getting excited about going to down to the special independent showcase theaters to watch movies made on a 10 million dollar budget, which just happens to chanlledge the way film making is done in many ways, as well as hold good, strong well-written story/dialogs. It seems the only films people know about are the ones which have a 20 million dollar advertising budget.
For example last month I rented a movie call "The Believer" which I missed in the theater, and man it was excellent, much better than the tipical thriller/suspense/drama rehased-cliche hollywood crap.
-
aw man there are alot. I just got back from Troy, that was awsome. I really want to see:
Van Helsing
Spider-Man 2
Day after Tomorrow
The Village
I, Robot (big will smith fan)
The Bourne Supremacy
Shrek 2 (wait for DVD though)
King Arthur
I hate Harry Potter.
If you haven\'t seen Troy go see it! I don\'t like brad pitt but it was excellent. An epic movie.
-
I know this may sound silly and possibly lazy, but what is The Bourne Supremacy? Of course when i saw it i thought it might be a sequel to The Bourne Identity, but im so out of the loop right now that i have no clue.
-
The Day After Tomorrow
Shrek 2
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (this is my favorite book of the series)
Hero
The Village
Spiderman 2
-
none

Didnt know will smith had a film coming out, ive always been a fan of him, other than that The Day After 2morrow and Troy look good.
-
The Day After Tomorrow
The preview seemed like the movie would be something to watch- just on the creativity factor. Looks awesome, Los Angeles frozen over, and total anarchy.
Spider-Man 2
Its Spidey- why not?

Other than the fact the original sucked?

The Village...I\'ve liked all of his previous movies, so I must see this one
-
Van Helsing really wasnt that bad at all.
P.S. There\'s no point in getting in a big argument about how movies nowadays suck. Yeah, Hollywood blows, everything they put out blows and blah blah blah.
All I ask is to be entertained for a few hours. If that happenes I consider the movie OK.
-
Troy is worth seeing IMO, saw it tonight and it was a great epic. The fight scenes were massive at sometimes, others not. Worth my 8 dollars.

EXACTLY. Why be so goddamn cynical all the f*cking time? What good does it do? So you hate everything, good for you, but that doesn\'t mean I have to as well. Let it be known, I love movies, I love gaming, I love comics, but I\'m not going to limit myself to the medium all because hollywood is crap, or all games are sequels\\ports or because all writers\\artists are sellouts. Forget that. Life is too f*cking short to be worried about such trite little shit. I\'d rather go and try to enjoy what I\'m seeing or experiencing then to go ahead and slam it a million times over.
-
Troy wasn\'t bad.. if you liked Gladiator, you will probably like it. And it\'s fairly (in most places) faithfull to the illiad, which was nice to see.
It\'s 170 min though from start of previews/commercials to start of credits.. so don\'t buy 2 big sodas :p

Couldnt be put better.
Hmm... i wonder where mm is:rolleyes:

watching "the swordsman II" actually
-
Guys I said earlier, Hollywood does put out some good stuff, For Instance, Today I rewatched FIGHT-CLUB over at my friends house , good film--a HOLLYWOOD ONE AT THAT. Also we plan to WATCH "CHINATOWN" later on (haven\'t seen that movie in 5 years)
This is what I consider good cinema, and yes I’m damn picky when it comes to films, I want quality.
Also keep in mind the admission they charge for movies today. 6 years ago it was $5.95 can. Today all the theaters are these massive 24 theaters multiplex IMAX blah, blah shit and they charge $12.95. for this kind of money the movies showing had better give me a blow JOB.
Yet here is the funny part. Over at the independent theaters, they charge half the price while showcasing far better cinema than your average bubble gum Hollywood commercial crap.
I guess what I don\'t understand here, and please guys help me out here, is that I see a good portion of you plan to see pretty much all this summers blockbusters. I mean does that shit really entertain you guys, most of those films have no depth to them.
Swordsman II
Havn\'t seen that one yet, personally I think Jet Lee\'s best film ever was "Fist of Legend " after that he sold out to hollywood to make crappy hip-hop films.
-
the legend is another great one, or any of the once upon a time in china series
-
I saw Van Helsing today for $5.75.

You\'ve got to be kidding me. You pre-judge movies before you even see them and then proceed to lecture us on what we should be watching? I can think a movie looks like crap, but I\'m not going to slam others for going to see them. It doesn\'t matter to me really. Then of course there\'s the whole social aspect of going to see movies with friends and the like and I think it\'s a lot of fun. Even if the movie is bad, you still have fun ripping it afterwards or complimenting it if it\'s great. Why do you think, even though all of Hollywood is crap, that movies are still, more then likely, the number one dating function? It\'s just fun. Plain and simple.
As for your cost comment, we live in an age where people spend 55 bucks on a f*cking game that they can beat in 25 minutes to two hours so don\'t even go off on hollywood for creating "crap" at a mere cost of "12.95" as you stated.
This elitist bullshit is really starting to go too far.
-
I have\'t played MGS 2, therefore it sucks.
I\'m gonna stick with cheaper PS1 games because they\'re old and inexpensive. Meaning they\'re automatically better.
My stadium theater is $8.50 adult, $6.50 if you have a student ID.

Three years ago I was seeing movies for 4$. Then a little over a year ago it was 6$, now it\'s 8.

Hey since you live in AUSTIN do you know who "ALEX JONES" is?
-
Um, no I don\'t its a relatively large city my friend that was quite the shot in the dark, I just recently moved here too so sorry I don\'t.
-
I don\'t think you understand MJPS. You will learn young grasshopper, a good portion of the people in Austin know who ALEX JONES is. He has a radio show called "INFOWARS" basically he exposes the government, and fights many of the corrupt laws legistrations being enforced in AUSTIN.
You are very lucky to have that man in your city he is a true American HERO

cant remeber the name, but the new jim carrey fil, somethin of the spotless mind. really thought it was gonna blow, saw it, well mainly as it was free, actually really enjoyed it.

I love anything Pixar does.
-
SpiderMan2
and
CatWoman
-
The only thing about cat woman is that it seems just.... too unrealistic (lol, well, even moreso)... beyond accepting the alternate universe with superheroes thing.. I just can\'t see her fighting in an outfit that skimpy, no matter how much I enjoy it... I think the first time she does any sort of acrobatics in those 4 inch stilletos is gonna kill the movie for me, and I\'ll die a little bit inside.
-
It might work for her, the villians raging boner might get in his way, or maybe he\'ll just hit the big-O, roll over and go to sleep.
-
Nobody mentioned the one that I want to see the most:
I\'ve been waiting about 3 years for this movie to come out...
The Chronicles of Riddick. (Pitch Black II)
others:
Spiderman II
The Bourne Supremacy
cat woman
the day after tomorrow
some others that I cant think of right now.. Basically all of them. I love going to movies. Even if the movie stinks of high hell
recent movies I\'ve seen:
Vanhelsing- Good flick. I had low expectations and was pleasantly suprised...
Troy: very good overall... cant complain
The Punisher: Not an award winner, but entertaining to say the least.
Breakin the rules: Very funny.. ALSO wont win any awards.
Honey: Worst movie I have seen about 5 years. I only watched it because my buddy told me there was a scene where they rubbed Jessica Alba down with oil Which was deleted out of the DVD, so it was basically a huge waste of time.
-
Frankly the only movies of the summer that concern me are...
Spiderman 2
The Bourne Supremacy (gotta watch the first one again)
and The Day After Tomorrow
the rest just don\'t appeal to me.
-
meh, looks like we\'re screwed for movies this summer. Bourne will be good, but that\'s really about it.
Pixar is overrated and make campy films (though I like the Toy Stories).
-
Kopking, it is calleed \'The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind\'.

Are you high? Whats wrong with Pixar films? You can\'t say you think they make "campy" movies and then say you like a large chunk of their stuff. They have only created about 5 or 6 movies.
