Roy Jones Jr....the nearly untouchable boxer....KNOCKED OUT by a left counter punch hook! He was out before he hit the floor....was wobbly when he got up! A full ten count KO!
Oh my!

Next cover boy for Madden: Tom Brady :D
I was shocked by this too though. I\'ve always been a fan of Roy Jones Jr, and I kinda hate to see this happen. Oh well, I guess everyone\'s time comes eventually.
-
I call it a lucky punch. I just saw the fight on bit-torrent. Unbelievable! Roy threw a right and got caught with a counter left hook....BAM! Right on the jaw!
-
Yeah, I haven\'t seen the fight yet, so I don\'t know...but damn. It seemed like I\'d never be talking about Roy getting knocked out. Beaten on points MAYBE, but knocked out, and that soon in the fight? Damn.
-
In teh exchange, when Tarver threw the left, he threw it while his head was down. By the time he looked up, his glove landed solidly on Roy\'s jaw and that was the end.
So, in a way, he threw a reactionary blind punch and it landed on the money!

I just saw the fight...damn. Yeah, I really can\'t believe that. It really is sad in a way that he had to lose that way. He was clearly the better fighter up until that point, but I guess that anyone can go down if a punch catches them just right.
I kinda feel sad to see it happen though because I feel like Jones was the ones true great fighter left in boxing these days. No one else from the past 15+ years can really be called great in any way, besides Jones. Oh well, I guess everyone gets old sometime, everyone gets lucky sometimes...whatever it is. I hope Jones wrecks him in a rematch.

I\'m not sure if I like seeing him lose. I enjoy seeing a really confident athelete but at times Roy Jones Jr. seemed completely full of himself, especially here. I kind of want to watch the fight just to see him get tagged in the chin.

If you\'ve ever seen any boxer speak there all full of themselves, thats one sport that they have to be!!! If you don\'t have confidence in yourself you\'re not going to win that often.
-
not a surprise to me he lost. He should have lost to him the last time they fought.
-
Yeah, but the last fight was under completely different circumstances. Jones had to drop A TON of weight just to qualify for the fight. He had bulked way up in anticipation of another heavy weight fight, and had a lot to lose, including over 10 pounds like the day before the weigh in. He clearly wasn\'t in the best position for a fight in this weight class then. This fight however he was very fit and at the right weight and all.

Confidence and being completely cocky are much different.
