What I have been told is that on May 19th we need to get as many people as possible not to purchase gas. That means if it works well as much of America on May 19th we can get wont be purchasing gas. I dont think it\'ll have much effect but damn atleast it sends a message. Im in on this, I encourage anyone else to partake in this event also.
So has anyone heard about not buying gas on May 19th?
-
I won\'t buy any gas, only because I have to fill up tomorrow
-
I wish I could find an official statement suggesting the May 19th biz before I go all out on this. It was just what my English teacher had let me and some other Sr\'s on.

Same here.

I\'ll probably need to get gas on the 19th anyway so I say screw it. I agree the gas prices suck though. I was in Ohio this past weekend and it was up to like 2.05. I just don\'t think it will have an affect on the gas companies so I won\'t do it because it\'s kind of a lost cause.
-
i\'ll buy twice as much on that day so i wont have to buy any the next time, thanks for the tip
-
One day isnt going to hurt the Industry... plus there will just be twice as many people filling up on the 20th.
-
I think it\'s an act more out of desperation, I know it wont hurt a bit..but maybe it\'ll send a message...... What am I kidding, gas companies dont give a flip. Theres got to be something we can do though, Im personally sick of them raping our wallets.
-
not to mention our environment.
Nothing we can do. You aren\'t going to see major conservation efforts unless it goes another 30-50% higher. I would think this will blow over, and the new price of gasoline will just be a given in about 2 months.
-
Yeah I got spammed with that e-mail. Not like one day is going to matter. Eventually people will have to buy gas. Truly a laughable effort.
-
lets tap Alaska :)
-
What we should really be boycotting is the middle east\'s oil
-
^^
I don\'t buy any middle eastern gas, I buy all mine here in california ;)
the good thing is that we might have some shorter lines at the pump on wednesday.

$2.05???
Boo-freakin\'-hoo...
New Yorkers are paying $2.25 for regular...
-
My car\'s full, so no need for me to buy gas on the 19th.
-
LOL, americans complaining about gas prices  - check out Britains.
"The average price of gasoline in Britain was $5.38 a gallon, a bargain compared with the Netherlands, where it was $5.69 a gallon. In Germany it was $5.01. The French got away with paying $4.78. "
-
How long is the average commute in Britain?
My college is 45min away, my father has to commute for close to an hour to get into DC during rush.
-
I bet if you look at price and quantity, there are an awful lot of products that over the years have increased price way more than oil.

BTW....everyone not buying gas on one day and then buying gas the next will cause more problems than you know. Anyone recall the power outage we had in the Northeast last year? For just one day, no one could buy gas coz none of the pumps worked. The next day, there were gas lines around the block, causing blockage at intersections and driveways....people cutting in line and getting into fights.....
These "Gas Out Days" make no difference at all.
-
But those were people who didn\'t plan their gas buying. People going and buying gas today to not buy gas tomorrow won\'t cause those lines.
Really it won\'t cause a damn thing.

i can feel myself getting stupider reading this post. One day of boycotting fuel??? I\'ve got a better idea- Everyone step outside at 8:00am EST, and read this out loud: Im Sofa King We Tad Ed. That\'l really stick it to the man!

It hasn\'t even reached 2 bucks in some places where I live. You need to know where to get gas too. There\'s a Gulf station a bit out of the way that is usually pretty cheap (last I think was 1.75 when others were like 1.90. Its at 1.99 on main road areas and high traffic areas). I\'d boycott middle eastern oil but don\'t know what are American (I know Hess but there isn\'t a Hess station anywhere near me.) Can someone post a list of stations that are not middle eastern?

Well it wasnt my idea, and it\'s not like I was calling everyone out to do it. I was more curious really if anyone had read about the boycotting. My threads will never be that enlightening, but in this case I had to see how everyone else would recieve this news.

I live in the city so good luck to me on finding anything less than $2.25...
And someone did post a list of oil companies that don\'t use Middle Eastern oil...
I think it was one of the old guys...
