Title: Bought a 5200 to replace MX, still not to satisfied.
Post by: PSX_J on May 23, 2004, 12:46:17 PM
I guess you get what you pay for, $130 was quite a steal for a 256mb 5200 asylum though. But what\'s the use in having those great graphics if the peformance sucks anyways....

So instead of trying to to buy another card that\'s only a little bit better, Im just going to give in and save up some money for the Radeon X800.  A card that kicks arse and will last me a while.  I should have some graduation money coming in soon so that\'ll get me halfway there, all the way if my family is feeling generous.

Anyone else planning on getting the latest graphics cards?  If so which one?  It kind of irritates me because both have something the other doesnt so I dont know which to choose really.  Geforce 6 sucks up alot of power yet has PS 3.0,  Radeon isn\'t a power whore but only has PS 2.0.  Either way Im getting screwed out of something.  Both should be worth the money though, cant wait to have a card that performs well and has excellent graphics.

Damnt, there was a guy that was going to sale me a ti4600 for 80 bucks.

If the 6800 doesnt suck up power than maybe I\'ll get that instead.

p.s. Your arrogance isn\'t amusing.

Man $130 is a lot of bread for that card.  You shoulda checked out a couple of benchmarks or asked here before you made your purchase! ;)

Your CPU will be a bottleneck if you don\'t have something like a P4 2.53ghz nowadays.  I am in the process of replacing my MSI Ti4200 that oc\'s faster than a 4400.  If you get screwed with your grad money lmk.

It\'s official, Im an idiot when it comes to purchasing graphics cards.  Im always inclined to think a higer price means better..bah!  As for the processor I have exactly a 2.53 ghz P4, will upgrade to a 3ghz after I get a new freaking card.

2.53 is high enough

don\'t waste your money on something  slightly faster when 4ghz cpu\'s are around the corner

don\'t bother update your cpu at all, unless you plan on doing lots of hardcore app work.  If its a gaming machine 2.53 is plenty for any gfx card atm.

Ti4600 cards are expensive still (here anyway).
Only ones i\'ve seen around now are from MSI and they\'re worth over 500 AUD, 349 USD.

U can get a some GFFX 5800/5900 or some 9800 cards cheaper then one of the Ti4600 cards. I guess the companies are trying to push out Ti cards.

For 130 you could have gotten a 5600FX card or a 9600SE radeon card.

$130, a steal for a GF5200.. when you can get a 9800 Pro (retail box) for $179 from NewEgg that crushes it?

IMO, people should stay away from the entire 5xxx line of cards from nVidia and buy budget ATi cards.. or a GF6800.

I really wish I had come ask your opinions on cards and prices before I went and bought that one.  I was just looking for the quick fix.  I thought 130 was a steal but apparently Im wrong.  I\'ll look into the 9800 pro if it\'s really that cheap on newegg.

morrowind is so full of crash bugs it isn\'t funny.  I don\'t know how many times I\'ve used the \'fix me\' console command, but it\'s plenty.

It has begun! :D
