Is it possible to share your Printer so another computer via the Internet can connect to it and use it? (I know its possible via a Network, but I want to share mine over the Internet.)
I did some Googling, but I cant find guides on how to do it in WinXP.
Have any of you tried in sharing your Printer via the Internet?
I have a HP PSC 2100-series printer, the computer is connected to a 3com OfficeConnect Cable/DSL Gateway - router.

I have internet printing setup for work. I am using IIS on win2k server. I have never tried it on 2k pro or xp though. You connect via a webpage, and can install the printer from there. It is a nice setup.

Here is a snapshot of it setup. Some info is omitted of course.

Ah nice, something like that would be great.
Win2k Server you say? I\'ll look into that, XP does not seem to have the same IIS support. :(

If you decide to do it, and need help setting it up. PM me. Though it is fairly simple to do.

as long as the printer has a static external IP and you share it to everyone you could just set it up using the ip example: //245.56.56.84/HPDeskjet

word of warning. 2k server has a bug that you have to edit a couple of files to get that to work in a nat situation. 2k3 server resolves that. I would suggest dyn dns if you do not have static.

Hmm, I did that.. But it said it could not connect to the printer.
Im behind a router, should I give the printer my external IP or the IP of this computer (192.168.1.xxx)?
I want to share this printer (which is connected to the computer Im typing on) with other computers.

cant be behind a router unless you port it in the router setup wich can be more challenging for the less experience you definalty need an external IP not a local ip like the 192.168.0.1
