I just got comcast internet about 3 days ago. I have been having problems with my network just going off.
The settings will go down and I cannot connect to any pages.
I called comcast and a guy came out here. He said that the connection seemed fine and he boosted my signal.
I told him all the lights are on the modem when the I can\'t connect to any web pages and when I restart the computer I am able to sign back onto the web again.
He said it seems like it\'s a problem with my computer.
I asked him what it could be and he said he does not know.
So this where I am stuck at. I have no idea why my network keeps shutting down. I don\'t know where to start looking try and figure it out.

We need all of your computer information before we go anywhere starting with your OS.
-
Quddus call them again and ask for new DNS address. Update \'em and check it out.
-
Try running your internet connection wizard when it happens next ttime.
-
or.. if your on cable/dsl etc. Make sure you don\'t have a IP in your network settings under internet protocol. Have it set to obtain ip automatically.
-
Try this:
1) Control Panel > Network Connection > Local Area Connection > Support Tab > Click Repair
2) Control Panel > System Icon > Hardware Tab > Device Manager > Network Adapters. Dbl click on your card > Advanced Tab > Highlight NetworkMedia > Choose 10BaseT as the speed, no full duplex.
Whenever it fails again close all internet apps and do #1 first. If that doesn\'t work try #2. Method #2 lowers the speed but not for internet since you can\'t get even close to 10mbps with cable (yet). For some reason my semi-old Netgear NIC only works at 10BaseT, meh.
PS- always nice to download and install the latest drivers for your NIC too :D

I am running windows XP
Went and did the repair thing. I will call and as for a new DNA address. Just checked settings it\'s on auto detect.
I was just downloading windows update and it went down.

oK why can\'t I download service pack 1a? I have over 500meg of free space on my disk. I have a legit copy of windows but it keeps telling me there is not enough memory to run sp1a.
-
hmmmm maybe its a virus?

I am running adware and cwshredder.
Now my connection just went out I went and check the modem status and the modem says I am connnected. But when I go to a page I can\'t connect.

Hmmm...
If you have a digital camera, take a picture of your screen when you are having these problems.
Oh, and hold your credit card up next to the screen so we can tell what size monitor you are running on.
Just Kidding

Adware, cwshredder aren\'t antivirus programs. They\'re for adware, spyware etc.
yes theres a sp1a pack for xp. Go to control panel, system and it\'ll tell u under the general tab. Which should already be up.

get norton\'s and run a virus check on your machine. Those progs you listed are like souly said, spyware programs.
