I decided to build a videogame website for a project in school.
I\'ve looked at a few sites like IGN, TeamXbox, Gamespot, and Eurogamer and see so many features but I wonder how many of them actually get used.
What do YOU use when you visit those sites?
What do you expect on the main page?
I have to present the project proposal and concept in two weeks so I need some ideas to start designing this thing very soon.

I always hot the Babes section of IGN as a matter of fact now thats it gone I dont go there much anymore HMMM??? The cheats and the reveiws are aight also..

I have to present this in front of my class, then in front of the multimedia department when I\'m done. If I did implement a "For Men" type section, what kind of content do you think it should cover. Simply pictures or something more like editorials?
The cheat section...sounds like it might take a while to gather so many cheats and codes. However, I\'ll take it into consideration.
Reviews are a given.

Trying to decide if I can fit these within the header graphic or I should just opt for the standard navigation along the left side of the page...suggestions? Which do you prefer? Do you care?

You should make a "Classics" or "Legends" forum or something similar for the dead consoles like DC, Genesis, and Saturn...

Good idea, thanks.
I was just searching the web and I noticed that there are several high profile xbox sites, all doing pretty well. (I\'m only judging by how active their forums are) I look around for some ps2 and gamecube sites and they seem to be severely lacking...save for the big sites like IGN, Gamespot, and the official sony sites.
I might just focus on one console, this might help cut down on how big the project is so I could focus more on making it pretty. And who knows, I might just load it up and slap a vbulletin board on there. probably not

I think xboxers are generally the "online obsessed" folks, compared too the ps2 and gamecubers.

^I was thinking the same thing, but I can\'t help but wonder where 60+ million fans are...

It\'s going to be a Sony site, covering Playstation 2, 3, and PSP.
I completed the design for the table, along with a color scheme. I also came up with a rough sketch & color of the header graphic. I have Cyrus to thank for those groovy colors in his avatar:D

I use those sites to check out the latest info on games, such as release dates, reviews and screenshots. Everry game site should have this basic concept imo.

well I\'ve always liked a tabbed interface with a submenu on the tabs.
Threw together a quick mockup for you.

Thanks, nO-One!
I was thinking along the same lines but with a pulldown menu on roll-over, however I like the way your example looks.
:)
