Post by: theomen on June 18, 2004, 12:38:28 PM
Looks like a pretty good game, only thing is that I\'m weary of Movie based Games.

I saw footage of Spidey webbing a guy then swinging him around in a circle before tossing him like a mile. It was really sweet looking. I like the idea that you can get on top of a huge building, do a freefall and spin a web right before splatting on the ground.

I just got the flip card from blockbuster so I don\'t know if i\'m gonna buy spidey2 but I\'m definitely gonna play it one way or another.

^^^The flip card is cool. I actually had their game pass and cancelled it to get the flip card.

I originally was going to buy it for the PC, but it turns out that the Spiderman The Movie 2 for pc is a kids game, the good one is only on consoles, so I\'m kinda torn of buying it as I have no consoles at home, all are on vehicles.  As much as I like being on my boat, it sure is hard to play a video game on it, I feel uber nerdy.

I\'ll rent it for sure. I bought the first one and it was a major let down.

I have enjoyed the Spiderman games so far. Simple, effective, not worth a purchase but a great rent.

Never fully got into this one. It was a decent game but nothing that really thrilled me in terms of innovation or just plain gameplay. The story was obvious so its the mechanics and such that make it what it is. This was a department that was somewhat lacking IMO.

Are you saying that you have it already?

My mistake. I was talking about the first one. Thus my skepticism in checking out two.

Not a great game but very fun. I would mark this as a rental for most people. The random missions consist of maybe 5 different crimes and they get repetetive. Still I find myself doing them over and over to unlock new combos and web abilities.

Web Swinging in this game is SOOO much fun. I loved the web swinging in the first game and this is 10x better. Nothing beats diving off of the empire state building, pulling off all kinds of flourishes on the way down, catching the side of a building with a web, swinging with your feet inches away from the ground, jumping off onto a building, running along the side of the building, and then jumping off again while flourishing into another web swing. Definately fun. This is the closest  you are going to get to web swinging like Spidey does in the movie.

My main gripes are with the camera and the fact that you sometimes lose control of your character after a really hard hit. You can get hit by swinging wrench and not have enough time to recover before another hit comes your way. It gets frustrating.

Overall I would say that if you enjoyed the first game even a little bit you should try this out.

Have it hone now, and been playing it a couple of hours. I think I am on chapter four, but not by choice. I spend most of time just swinging around the city.

If you like the thought of swinging around New York which is huge. Then buy it.

Actually, it is. If people buy this, then it will encourage developers to notice that this is how Superhero game\'s need to be done. Open ended, not linear to the \'nth degree.

I rented this yesterday and I thought it was quite good, although you are right about the random crimes(only about four) the swinging through the city is great fun.It\'s got hidden tokens and the city is huge(that\'ll keep you going for a while),I would have to play a few more missions to comment on them but so far I think it\'s not bad.

I\'m around 13 hours in the Xbox version and still nowhere near done. The city is massive, there are tons of hidden tokens (150 Skyscraper tokens, 120 Boyou tokens, 75 Hidden Tokens, 215 Hint Tokens and more). Then there are awards you get for hitting certain landmarks (25 Purse snatchers foiled, 25 officer assists and so on).. After all that, there are still regular missions , races, challenges and so on. Friggin\' massive game.

There is a few area\'s the game is lacking in tho\'.

(1) Lack of extra\'s. Beyond the tokens I mentioned and the awards, there are no real extra\'s . The original \'Spider-Man\' game had extra\'s such as playing as The Green Goblin , the Alex Ross outfit and other things. Most people, like myself was hopin\' for at least alternate outfits , but so far none have been found. Huge letdown.

(2) Glitches. This game suffers from the same thing as \'Enter the Matrix\', as it was rushed to make the deadline of the film\'s release. The problem with rushing these movie based games is the fact that bugs have to be shipped with the game. The game tends to freeze every couple times you enter the Bugle. Criminals also get stuck in the walls.

(3) The boss battles, which for the most part seem like an after thought to the rest of the game are extremely frustrating.

(4) The "random" missions are fairly predicatable. You will either rescue a falling person, take someone to the hospital, stopping a car jack, saving a sinking boat or helping the police, retrieving a ballon for a little girl and stopping a purse snatching. Yes, that seems like a lot of missions, but in reality it\'s not.

I know it seems like I am bagging on the game a lot, but I\'m not. The game is a landmark for super hero games. You truly do feel like Spiderman (Yes, without the " -"). I know EA has the rights to the next Superman game and I can only hope they are taking note with this. A full city to explore and zip about is great... Climbing to the top of the Empire State Building, looking around and knowing any place you see, you can go is a terrific feeling.
