I will be getting a new system for college this year and I thought I was definite on the Intel processor but for some reason I considered the AMD\'s and have been getting mixed feelings on both. Anyone want to offer some advice and/or oppinion on this?

We concluded in the other thread before it went haywire if you like gaming and are budget conscious go AMD. Video encoding go Intel.
Members here seem to have no stability problems with the current AMD cpus and chipsets available so good luck.

^ What he said. It does depend on the p4 type u get and the 64 cpu too. Personally I can wait a few more seconds or minutes for a video to encode. I prefer increased gaming performance. Just as THX prefers encoding.
Heres (http://www12.tomshardware.com/images/thg_video_10_athlon64.zip) a Vid if you\'re worried about things like frying a cpu and some benchmarks.
Cpu protection is amazing stuff ey mm ;)
