Post by: THX on June 21, 2004, 10:41:16 PM
Just for fun.  Download = Gamer\'s Hell (http://www.gamershell.com/download_3397.shtml?q=aquamark) | Guru3D (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=673)

Test is quicker and the install takes up less space than 3D Mark.

My Score: 42,355 (http://arc.aquamark3.com/arc/arc_view.php?run=1957244007)

I\'m gonna try to OC my gfx card and see how much more I can get.

Seems to freeze on my pc during the first test. I can escape from it. Donno if its my graphics card or just something else.

http://arc.aquamark3.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=1069&highlight=freeze

Seems someone else has the same prob..  Same brand gfx card too. Saw another person with the same prob on a R9800 card.
So i\'ll just play around with my pc tomorrow, its gotta be a software issue.. right night its bed time for me..

Hmmm not bad for my work PC - especially when I was running Arc Map among other things in the background...

Note: its says I have a 9800 Pro when in fact I have the 9800 non pro.

I ran it earlier but I forgot exactly what it was.  It was right around 9,000 (just a shade under)

This is on my work computer as well with a few things running in the background, and my lousy FX5200 is totally to blame, cause my 3.2 P4 sure the hell isn\'t.

AquaMark Score: 19012 (CPU: 6930, GFX: 2202)  I registered under FatalXception if yah wanna see.

Not overclocked.

Yeah... My aging Ti4600 is the bottleneck in my system.. no doubt about it.  Another 6-9 months and it\'ll be time to build a whole new rig.. and this baby becomes my shitrig.  I\'m kinda looking forward to it, I spend the first few months after I get new rigs just modding the crap outta the cases... I figure I\'ll have to start looking for cases in the next 3-4 months.

I had my major slowdowns with the "many particles", "vegetation fields", and "massive overdraw" tests.. the rest were good.

Overclocking just the Ti4600:
AquaMark Score: 20255 (CPU: 6920, GFX: 2373)
Maybe if I\'m bored on Thursday I\'ll do it right.  Shut down background stuff (Azureus, for example :p), OC my cpu, ram, etc etc.  Probably not tho.  Not just for a test.

Overclocking my card alittle more jumped me to 18072 (http://arc.aquamark3.com/arc/arc_view.php?run=1957273700)

There doods with ti4200 cards get friggin scores over 30000
example

I got right around 20K with programs runnin in the background (not sure exact number - at work right now). I will try it without programs runnin\'. I know for a fact my videocard is going to be a bottleneck until I buy the new ATI card.

Edit - I just read on HardOCP.Com that Ati\'s new 4.9 Drivers are causing a drop in score on Aquamark 3 , can anyone on this forum confirm that they have indeed suffered a drop witH AquaMark 3 after 4.9? I know mine is not near as high as it should be runnin\' the 4.9 Drivers, but at the same time, DOOM 3 runs..

Just installed a 6800GT:

56,664 (http://arc.aquamark3.com/arc/arc_view.php?run=148872445)

This card is pretty damn neat.  The stock HSF is loud as crap but speed varies depending on heat.  I\'m gonna transfer my old Zalman heatpipe to it, I\'m curious to see if there\'s a performance difference as well.

Which 6800 GT did you get?!?!?!!
Title: Post your Aquamark 3D scores
Post by: THX on October 18, 2004, 09:51:46 PM
the eVGA model, it doesn\'t take up any PCI slots and people are saying the HSF is much better than the BFG.  Truthfully I woulda sprung for the latter if Newegg had it in stock since they are known for better quality hardware as well as a lifetime warranty.  That\'s the one you\'re getting right?

Anyways unfortunately the Zalman heatpipe doesn\'t fit on any 6800GT+ cards and they haven\'t come out with an announcement to release one yet. :(  This bastid raises case temps considerably!

^ The dual fan cooling is great ! Idles about 41 to 47 degrees celcius (dependant on weather temp, room temp) and hasn\'t topped 59 during load ; games and 3D modeling. Gainward provides this Expertool utility which let you set fanspeeds either manually or dynamically ; dependant on 3D workload.

Anyway, the cooling is very efficient and the card sports a full copper heatsink over the core. It\'s not a whispersilent card, but far from the 5800 Dustbuster. OC\'ing is great on this GT ! :bounce:

All out? Then don\'t you mean the 6800 GT Ultra....

There is..

6800 GT
6800 Ultra

Get the Ultra.

well... i\'m not going ALL OUT with the Ultra.  I don\'t see the sense in the extra 100 bones for the ultra when you can OC a GT and get nearly the same performance.

I mean all out in the fact that i\'m gonna be spending close to, or a little over 400 bucks for a video card.  Should I look at the 256MB versions, or would a 128MB one still crank out Doom 3 and the like at the higest settings?

Is it worth the extra cash?

woops, one more.  ;)   What about the X800 pro?
Title: Post your Aquamark 3D scores

256 mb helps for AA and AF at 16 x 12 res.

X800Pro is a good card. It gets slapped by the GT though.
Yes also in CS Source (at 400/1100)

Al; reviews shgow that a 128 meg card will run DOIOM 3 and Farcary with all the settings on. You may gain a few FPS witgh the 256 but it wont be a massive change.

Pretty much dead even.  What are you oc\'ing the card to?  I leave mine at 375/1025.  I think Knotter mentioned his is stable at Ultra speeds.  The memory on my eVGA can\'t take it!

edit- just ran the test again, turns out it is stable at Ultra speeds but I got a better score (63645 (http://arc.aquamark3.com/arc/arc_view.php?run=217035991)) with 400/1025.

I cranked my card up to 425/1140, that\'s about it\'s limit.  The only thing holding me back is my memory.  I got the cheap corsair value ram, so I can\'t overclock my CPU at all hardly.

After christmas I might get some nice ram that\'ll let me overclock my Winny quite a bit.  But i\'m happy with what started out as a "budget" gaming system. :)

Not really that big of a loss. He does some cool things, like bringing massive props on stage, or suddenly rising 20 feet in the air, but it\'s all very contrived. And unless you\'re stoned, you won\'t be that impressed.

He sings the songs remarkably accurately, though. I was expecting voice breaks all over the place.

I don\'t know if anyone else here has a 7900gt, but there is a super simple way to volt-mod and get the core up to the 650-700mhz range.  Took all of 5 minutes.  So you basically end up with a 256mb version of the 7900gtx.
