Any of you watching The Casino?
That show absolutely looks stunning.
No clue yet how they are doing it. It\'s supposed to be a reality show, but they have so many angles to situations that it\'s hard to believe they are able to get it all.
I know some of the stuff is staged, but dang it looks so damn good. Perfect widescreen show. Just wish it was in HD. Damn you FOX!! Hurry up and go HD!!!

That would be The Casino....... Casino is on Discovery and its actually pretty good. I watched the Pilot episode of The Casino and it all felt tooo staged I didnt really like the whole girl is a guy thing and what happened she just bolted it did\'nt really show. And the party in the room and the owners just happen to walk by. It was pretty inturesting to see how difficult it is to get a gaming licsence though.

That\'s why I am saying some stuff is staged. It makes it kind of a psuedo reality drama. I just like the way it was shot.

I don\'t have Fox damn it! I get the NY feeds of NBC and CBS - but Fox and ABC won\'t grant me the waivers.

A buddy of mine was on the first show I guess. I didnt get to see it though.

I watch it but it all seems fake. It looks like very little of the show is spontaneous.
Don\'t package it as a reality show when it is pretty much a scripted show with amateur actors.

Sounds very similiar to The Restaurant. The heavy use of editing made it look very fake.

Did anyone see last weeks episode with the "race to the casino"? There is NO way this show is not scripted.

It\'s definitely mildly scripted. That\'s why the concept is kind of interesting. Its like majorly prodded reality.
Personally I just liek the way it\'s shot. It\'s a very good show for widescreen. Shot extremely well. I saw it the other day in standard def and it didn\'t hold up at all. I probably would hav ethought it sucked and never watched it again in SD.

I thought you just got through saying at the start of this thread that it WASN\'T in HD. Is it, or isn\'t it? I thought Fox was in 480P, but that\'s all. Are you saying it\'s in widescreen, but not HD?

I never said it was in HD. Although FOX is going HD in September. As a matter of fact, if your station can accept and deliver HD already in your area, you may get the all star game tonight in HD. IT will be the first production they\'ve done in HD. If you live in Houston you will be in HD because they are getting a direct fiber feed from the stadium.
I was just saying that show is far better in WS, than 4x3. The open is sweet as hell.

Oye. Again, I said I like the videography in it. The show has a very different look about it.
And the show is far from crap. Something I have definitely learned on this board is that some people have very bad taste in shows. And then there is me. :)

Definately true.
I don\'t like the fact that they play a lot of it off as reality when it is scripted; but that doesn\'t take away the fact that it is entertaining as hell.

It\'s not scripted. THere is a big difference between pushing a scene along and scripting.
Here is how it worked.
THey had a casting call where they asked for people to apply that have an interesting life, interesting story, or are a high roller. They were offered free everything to come to the Golden Nugget. They have to gamble though in a small area of the casino and they have to allow themselves to be shot.
These people are in Vegas to play it up for the camera and do their thing.
Now the producers obviously tell the people there who else are part of the show and they interact.
After they get the material, they go back and shoot fillers to progress the story line. These are the scenes with the owners and the employees.
It\'s very well done for what it is. It\'s somethig different. It\'s not Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or whatever else you kids watch, but it\'s a good show nevertheless.

Yeah, I guess it is "good", if "good" means "crap" in slang. Kind of like "bad" being "good" or some nonsense like that.
It\'s a stupid show, just like almost every show on TV. I remember a time when TV was worth watching, but now the only thing worth watching is Cartoon Network and Discovery Flight (because they ruined the real Discovery channel with your stupid motorbike shows).
