I just took a ride in my dad\'s new hummer. He just picked it up today. Its awesome, not only does it come with a touch screen XM radio, it also switches over to a full color GPS system. Cool Shiat I tell you. TOTALLY sold me on XM radio. Clear as hell, and Awesome selection of music. Im gonna pick one up for the Acura probably this weekend!

Yellow? Wouldn\'t be my favorite choice, but still cool. The only thing I like about them is that they are high from the ground. I don\'t like cars that much anymore. I am more of a truck-girl now. Well, thats my opinion.

I am wanting to do an upgraded suspension on a hummer on this new series I am supposed to be doing. Trying to avoid it all costs because it\'s double the work for no money.
Anyway, they are definitely big, but certainly not built like the original hummer. Still a fun truck. What\'s the gas mileage? How many fill ups from the dealership to the house?

I like the H1 a lot more better. Its more based on the military Humvee (were built on the exact same assembly line actually) and performs better offroad than the H2 (some tests have proven this. Higher ground clearance and crap like that). I never really liked the H2 at all. I would never own one. They take too much gas. I\'ll settle with sport cars thank you.

Is he seriously going to take this vehicle offroad? I get the impression with all the bling chrome and plastic accents on the outside, and the comfy interior, that most of these vehicles won\'t be driven on an unpaved road. If your dad is planning to take it offroad, then more power to him.
I do hate these H2s because they are a danger to me on the freeway. You can\'t see around them, so you cannot anticipate traffic conditions ahead, and they are so high that it\'s easy for the H2 driver to miss small cars and motorcycles around them. Also, there\'s rarely any reason to waste the fuel necessary to move that much mass around just to transport 1, 2 or even 4 people. It weighs at least twice what a vehicle needs to weigh to accomplish that purpose. Even a luxury vehicle, with all the features and gadgets people seem to love.
I\'ve given up arguing about those things though. I don\'t care any more if someone wants to buy one of these. The only thing I don\'t understand is why people like them. I still don\'t understand the attraction. You can get a comfortable leather interior, GPS, and XM radio in a hot sedan that\'s also fast and far more fuel efficient. What\'s so great about a huge hulking bulk of metal like these enormous SUVs?

Maybe you should understand what you\'re posting before chastising me. It\'s ok, I\'ll help you out. :)
First, no vehicle other than one manufactured by Honda has VTEC®. That is Honda\'s registered name for their variable valve timing technology. Therefore my statement was true on that basis alone.
Second, I can almost guarantee you that the H2 does not have any sort of variable valve timing. :) They put "OHV" in the specs, which I guess implies that it\'s not a pushrod engine, but it still has only two valves per cylinder. It seems pointless to implement variable valve timing on an engine with two valves per cylinder, but even if they did, don\'t you think they would have mentioned it? I\'ve been looking everywhere, and found nothing. I\'m sick of looking for more tech specs on this engine, but you can keep searching if you want. It seems no one cares enough to bother talking about it, even on the Hummer forums.
BTW, it\'s just another boring powerplant found in any number of GM SUVs and trucks. 316hp out of a 6 Liter V8 is pathetic. My F20C makes 240hp out of 2 liters and four cylinders.

The man is right. I saw a vid of the h2 trying to take on H1 terrain and got crushed. The axle was f*ed beyond repair. The H2 is just a facified, watered down, more public friendly H1.
Personally i dont really like either, as i pretty much cant stand 90% of all trucks etc.
And Cored is definately right about the sad amount of power produced by the H2. I mean, people get upwards of 200 and 300 hp from a 79 corolla 3TC engine all the time. Thats a 4cylinder engine at 1.8L.
What happened to American ingenuity and know-how?

OHV usually = pushrods...
My F20C makes 240hp out of 2 liters and four cylinders.
But only 170 lb-ft hehe ;)

The car only weighs 2,800 pounds so it doesn\'t need heaps of torque like a freaking truck or an SUV. If I wanted to pull tree stumps, I would have bought an F150. BTW your comment about the Hummer engine proves my point. Thanks.

The H2 is a gas guzzler. Because it has a gross vehicle weight rating over 8500 lbs, the US government does not require it to meet federal fuel efficiency regulations. Hummer isn\'t even required to publish its fuel economy (owners indicate that they get around 10 mpg for normal use). So while our brothers and sisters are off in the Middle East risking their lives to secure America\'s fossil fuel future, H2 drivers are pissing away our "spoils of victory" during each trip to the grocery store.

Hear from people who have driven it that thing absolutely pulls at all gears. Have it in 3rd, under 3k rpms? No problemooooooooooo

Yeah, and the LS6 also makes 405 hp and 400 ft lbs of torque. I would love to own a ZO6. I will probably wait and see how the C6 ZO6 turns out in about 2-3 years. :)

Not really anything wrong with being addicted to traveling. This is America, we have the most wide open roads in the world and we depend heavily on the trucking industry to get goods from one place to another. The problem is the internal combustion engine is, or at least should be, nearing the end of its life cycle.

Damn, bigger engine than my 4.6L V8 T-Bird and it gets better milage than my car. I get 18/20 (factory supposedly). I calculated it to get around 17 where I live.

Which is in third place in Formula One (behind Ferrari and Renault), a racing series the domestic manufacturers like GM don\'t even have the technological capability of competing in?

Personaly I like toyota engines more, if that wasnt obvious. I wont knock honda. Ive had a couple (well not me personally, just growing up), and they are pretty good. I guess its just the ricers that overuse vtecs and b16\'s like crazy that give them a bad name.
The Z06 gets 19/28 mpg!? thats crazy. And how is such a large leap in highway miles achievable, because i have no idea. I dont think it has to do with it having a low revving engine but sheesh thats crazy.

Yes, my uncle has an LS1 C5 convertible. When you drive on the highway in 6th gear, the engine is turning about 1,500 rpms. It\'s pretty insane. 28mpg or better is quite easy to attain on the highway.

The Hummer 2 is built on a Tahoe platform, I believe. If not, it\'s on a Suburban platform.
H2 fun. There used to be a video of an H2 rock crawling and until th axel borked (yes, borked :p ). This one is slightly less damaging though.

Jebus. The sad thins is that the only real reason I brought up the fact that he got the H2 in the first place, was becuase I liked the XM radio in it. Personally, I wouldn\'t buy a hummer. But I don\'t go around hating people that drive one beacuse I can\'t afford it. (like the Friggin Paulsies on FUH2.com). I really dont understand the whole H2 bashing concept. Its basically a cool toy for my dad to drive around in.
I have driven lots of diffrent vehicles. Trucks, jeeps, cars, SUV\'s... I just bought an Acura RSX which was by far, my number one choice of vehicles to buy. Its quick, classy, and extremely efficient on fuel.
Maybe I should starting hating on Truck drivers, cause there vehicles are to big for the road. and they use too much fuel. Damn the 18 wheelers.. Im gonna make a website. FU18wheelers.com.

Well, 18 wheelers have experienced and better than average drivers behind the wheel. I think people here are jaded from the SUV drivers who have no clue how to drive according to the size and bulk of their vehicle. They drive it like a car. We\'ve all been cut off by cars....but imagine when a Hummer 2 cuts you off! And it\'s not like it can stop very well.
Sorry man, I ain\'t hatin\'. I just hate being cut off by SUVs coz they can\'t see me or they know they\'re bigger and can crush me.

It\'s hilarious how you say Hondas are shit, and your Ford is great, but you don\'t give any evidence for that statement except this fantasy of your offroad vehicle rolling over a Honda. Never mind that Hondas are more reliable, have better build quality, greater longevity, are more efficient, burn less fuel, make more power, produce lower emissions, and are generally a better value as an automobile.
Who cares about that stuff when you can just roll over a Honda in your big manly 23 year old obsolete Ford Bronco? Of course you would never do that because then the Phoenix police would arrest you and throw you in jail. :laughing:

Thats crazy. I think my next car is going to be a Vette :D (yeah right). Was considering a newer Porsche 944 (maybe turbo) but the rents say that my insurance would be rediculous so i just said fudge it.

Longevity: You\'re right, we don\'t really know yet because my car\'s first model year was 2000. BUT... May I ask how many miles are on your engine? Has it ever been replaced or rebuilt? I would just say that one often encounters Hondas that are still running strong at 150,000, 200,000 miles or more. Fords... well not so much. :o
Build quality is something that\'s qualitatively measured the day the vehicle rolls out of the factory, so there\'s no waiting to evaluate that one. Honda wins over Ford according to every sane person. I\'ve owned Fords before I know of what I speak.
As far as emissions, the S2000 is a LEV, and benefits from Honda\'s extensive research work on emissions reduction. I can absolutely guarantee that it has better emissions than your 1971 Ford. There\'s no way this cannot be true.
This part is the most absurd: "You obviously like to go really fast in a straight line on a smooth surface so you got a honda." If I wanted to go fast in a STRAIGHT line, I would have bought a Camero or a Mustang or some other boring muscle car that is all engine. The S2000 is designed for cornering, but I\'m not surprised a truck guy doesn\'t know anything about cornering. Do you like NASCAR too?

This doesn\'t concern you MP. :) You couldn\'t get any mudflap mommas in your dad\'s H2 if you tried. The H2 is for suburbanite poseurs.

I personally don\'t like SUVs. I have no use for it at this point. If I was in an area with a lot of snowfall (like Vermont) then I\'d get one but right now, I like owning a sport car. Its got everything I need and very fun to slam on the gas and go.

Or maybe I don\'t prefer to have a gas guzzling SUV (except a Bronco, which I don\'t know if it classifies as a truck or SUV) which flips over and puts me at more risk than a sport car and is a lot of the time slower than a sport car.
