I\'ve got a folder load of files I want to put onto a cd-rom/cd-rw for backup, but for some reason, it won\'t let me.
When I try to put them onto the cd, an error box pops up saying
E:\\ is not accessable
Incorrect function.
I know it should work, because I\'ve done it before.
What could be causing it to do this?

Windows driver Update shit probably :p
-
so how to I fix it?
-
You can click start then all programs. At the top it should say Windows Update, you can click that.

According to Unicron, that was the cause of it.
Anyway, I had a look, and nothing was listed for it.

has the cd already been burnt to with the session closed?

No, they are brand new cds, just out of the box.

Isn\'t there a windows fix for fixing problems burning cds?
I would try windows update. Goto there site directly and check to see what updates you don\'t have on your pc.
-
There is now fix for cd burning listed.

I have to assume you tried the freezer. I would mainly put the discs in. It helps tighten up the disc molecules and produces a better burn.
If that doesn\'t work, I\'d take the disc recorder out and put it in the freezer. It can\'t hurt.

I can\'t put it in the freezer, my PS2 is in there as is my DVD player, minidisc player, a tray of icecubes covered in 6 inches of frost from last summer and a bag of 6 month old sprouts.
What\'s the next best thing to do?

You mean the problem appeared after you indeed updated anything from Windows Update?

No, it just happened all of a sudden, I didn\'t do anything.
That\'s what is puzzling me, if I had done anything, I might be able to figure out how to fix it.
A few weeks into getting this comp, I backed a folder with a load if important files in it onto a cd.
Then about a week ago, I tried it again, and I got the error message. I\'ve spent until then trying to figure out wtf is wrong with it, without any success.

Is this a new type of discs you bought or have you burned one from this pack before?

No, like I said, they are a pack of brand new cd-rw disks, straight out of the packaging.
I also found an unopened cd-rom disk from the same batch as the one I successfully used before, but that didn\'t work either.

ok when you goto microsoft.com and it scans your pc to see what updates you don\'t have it finds nothing? I am sure there is one I downloaded it.
You should also do a virus scan of your pc.
next step reinstall windows xp.

Try buying a new CD Burner. If that doesn\'t work, just end it all immediately.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago.... well only worse ; during burning process it would stop and reboot the pc.
I should say that I did update my BIOS a few days earlier but it was by the book with the Asus EZ BIOS update utility. So then I updated the firmware for my Aopen CDrw drive. The problem persisted.
Finally i decided to do a system restore operation on my pc ; the first ever on my work pc :( . Fortunately it did solve the problem whatever it had been... Yes, I did do virus scans and the whole lot ; nothing. Anway, all works fine again now.

Try reinstalling your cd-writer device.
