Why would anyone want to drive that thing? Even if you happen to come across the reprucussions of a tornado there are better vehicles that can get you around it. It also has a horrible safety rating I believe..

Because SUVs are built on a truck chasis and have a truck engine and drivetrain. I think the Explorer is built on an F150 chasis.
