Title: Does anyone wanna hear my band, finally?
Post by: CHIZZY on July 14, 2004, 07:49:47 AM: I converted a song to mp3 if anyone wants to hear it...it\'s one of our slower, softer songs...but I haven\'t finished mixing any others...

Have you listened to the album "Human Cannonball?" The style of your song reminds me a little of their song "Fountain." I\'ll send you an mp3 if you\'re interested.

Anyway, your song is rather appealing. Your drummer is a little too cymbal crazy, but that doesn\'t kill it. I would say that the drum kit needs to be miked a little differently. The bass drum sounds a little "narrow." I\'m not sure of the terminology, but it needs a little more frequency width from the bass drum. Maybe a different mike placement would achieve it, or maybe just an eq adjustment.

The guitar layering and processing was fun. I\'d be curious to find out how you achieved that. The singer is good, and I liked the vocal performance. The vocal overdubs are a nice touch.

Post by: Lord Nicon on July 14, 2004, 06:34:08 PM: Not bad. Everything sounds fine on my sistem. Vocals and all. This sound is almost becoming a genre to a certain extent. I know quite a few bands that sound like yours, but thats not to say that you guys arent good or original or w/e.

For me. I have to be in the mood for this kind of music. Luckily i am. And thus, it gets a thumb up, although its quite different from your own music. at least that ive heard.

tanx for all da compliments and critiques...I may remix it again, putting the backing vocals thru some EQ to make it sound like a telephone or some shit...

Post by: THX on July 15, 2004, 04:56:10 AM: I love it too! Very mellow. I agree 100% with Cored about the drums though. Symbols are always in my face and I want to hear more of the drums.

But consider that small criticism since we are tuned to listen to the radio and not in live clubs or anything. Maybe just adjusting track levels would fix.

It\'s a live demo take of a long we\'re recording now... funny thing is, I kinda like it better than the way the other one is turning out...
