Title: EVGA 6800 GT vs ATI X800 Pro
Post by: GigaShadow on July 15, 2004, 04:33:44 AM
I am having a tough time making a decision on this one.  Anyone care to offer an opinion and state WHY I should buy one over the other?  Are there current drivers out for the 6800 GT?  I currently have my 9700 Pro and I have heard some have problems with left over driver information when they switch from ATI to Nvidia or vice versa.

Also from my understanding you only need a 350W powersupply - I have an Antec one - for this card and it only takes up one slot.

All the reviewers are saying the 6800GT is the most bang per performance buck for this next generation of cards.

I\'m gonna place my order for a Gainward "Golden sample" 6800GT
today. :nerd:
I also have an Antec PSU, but it\'s the TruePower 380 which comes with the Antec Sonata case.
350W is ok. Just as long as it outputs at least 18A on the 12volt rail.
I chose the GT over the Ati cards becuz of Nvidia\'s great OpenGL support ; I need stable opengl performance in Cinema4D and Maya....and oh, how could I forget pixel shader 3.0 support. Lol. I sold my QuadroFX1000,  which has that great workstation stability, but it\'s just sh1t at games. So, that deal generates me some cash to buy the 6800GT and an extra 1 gig of DDR500 ram. :thepimp:

* edit : I wonder how MM\'s 6800Ultra is doin\' :D
