Title: Question on older weapons.
Post by: fastson on July 16, 2004, 04:12:21 AM
This is a long shot, do any of you have any idea of what this weapon could be worth? I know some of you own weapons, so I figure.. yeah well. :)

The guy is asking for $430, I think it sound too high for a weapon with this kind of firing mechanism. A pistol with the popular flintlock mechanism is worth about as much.

What do you think a good price would be? Mind the weapon is "shootable" and has been test fired.

I Have no clue. You may want to venture in on some Guns forum and post the picture. Experts there can give you their opinions.

I agree... percussion cap stuff is still made today, and without some sort of authentication, you could be buying a replica.

Mmm, yes you are right.

Thanks anyway. :)

CHIZZY: He said the original gun is from 1700 sometime (barrel is 1700 or older), but the firing mechanism was changed to "percussion cap" (I did not know the correct English word for this) in the 1800 sometime.

Sell? ;)

Anyways, I got the price down and bought it. Pretty nice actually.

I did not expect it to be so big though, ~45 cm from muzzle to pistol butt. The calibre is .50.

Works great too. :D
