Title: Lesnar signs with the Vikings
Post by: IareEthan on July 27, 2004, 11:42:37 AM
Well...I must say, I didn\'t think it would happen. For anyone who has followed Brock Lesnar, he\'s most definitely a physical specimen. Has a tremendous work ethic. But, a football player? He hasn\'t played football since high school...which made the transition seem very unlikely, to me anyway. But he\'s one step closer...

Vikings sign former pro wrestler Lesnar

By BOB SANSEVERE

Pioneer Press

Vikings coach Mike Tice said the team will sign former NCAA champion and pro wrestler Brock Lesnar to a contract and bring him to training camp, which begins Friday in Mankato, Minn.

Tice made the decision after putting Lesnar through strenuous 45-minute workout this morning. Tice said Lesnar, who hasn\'t played football since high school, would play the same defensive tackle position as veteran Chris Hovan.

"I\'m excited. All I ask for is the opportunity, and he\'s given me that," said Lesnar, 6-foot-3, 286 pounds.

Tice said Lesnar will sign a contract after taking a physical later today.

His development should be very interesting...

He\'s big and strong but it doesn\'t mean he will be a success.

*waits for Brock to come crawling back to Vince Mcmahon*

I dont know if he\'s going to be able to go against guys who are the same weight and muscles, just under 100 pounds of fat. I think he would be better at LB, he has like no fat on him so he\'s probably not too slow.

Which means he has time to grow mentally.

The physical part is there, and he seems like a smart kid. He\'ll be able to last in the NFL, in my opinion. If he\'s already been signed by the Vikings, obviously he\'s got an uncanny amount of talent that they\'d like to wield. That, and the Vikings D isn\'t even that great, anyway, so hell, maybe we\'ll see him on the field during the season.

See Yuz.

Vickings didnt sign him because of his Uncanny ability....... they sign him because there is an uncanny following of wrestling and are hoping some of those people will come to a game. Wether this dude is good or not doesnt make a whip of differenc.

I just hope this guy keeps his mouth shut and shows us something.  Don\'t bring that soap opera bs to the NFL.

Well, the Lesnar experiment failed.  He got cut by the Vikings the other day. :)  I had a feeling that was coming.

Meh, I thought he might make it.

The question is, now that Lesnar has said that he\'s not going back to the WWE, what does he do now?

See Yuz.

Try again next year?  I honestly don\'t think he makes it ever, but if he seriously trained for it, who knows.  He did make it until close to the final cuts, so maybe he showed them something.

Yeah I too thought it would have been very interesting seeing him out there but he can just go back to wwe.

Just think of the story lines they will come up with now. Oh I forgot wrestling isn\'t fake.

he\'s gonna go to NFL europe to develop some technique and skill that a football player requires.

Guess he just figured that he was such a good athlete he could do whatever he wanted at the pro level.  Last time I checked quite a few gifted athletes played in the NFL.  correct?

I just don\'t see him ever being anything in the NFL.  It\'s one of those sports that takes more than just being a great athlete.  Lesnar is physically capable, but he doesn\'t have a feel for the game.  That is more important than the physical part if you ask me.
