Title: Are you registered to vote?
Post by: GigaShadow on July 28, 2004, 04:51:57 AM
General Election in November and the deadline to register is quickly approaching in some states.  Non US citizens and US citizens under 18 please don\'t vote in the poll.  :)

Also if you are registered are you planning to vote? Please don\'t post who you are going to vote for.

Me no follow rules good.

Now if only we could ban/eliminate the dibolt wireless electronic voting machines, are votes might just count?

If I lived in Florida  I would go vote in some other state. I would want my vote to count.

Damn my age! The good thing is that alot of my friends are voting. And since they know nothing of what is going on it was pretty easy to get them to vote for Kerry and they even gave 50 bucks each to his campaign. That\'s 550 bucks we gave in all. That bastard Kerry better win.

Florida is not an issue anymore, all  States in major cites that have adopted the Wireless access Electronic voting machines(which does not give you a paper receipt to very you vote), is going to make Florida look like a picnic.

Does it really matter who wins? Both parties are pushing the same agenda; it\'s a sad day in America when our only choice for president is 2 "SKULL and Bones members", who just happen to be 16th cousins. Here is the Associated Press article; otherwise you would probably think I made this up http://msnbc.msn.com/id/4286105

Yeah, I heard about that. I don\'t know, the way things are going Kerry is the only good option. Nader is just there and voting for him won\'t get Bush out of the White House.

Go ahead and push your friends to vote for Kerry - its not like Bush won\'t carry Texas. ;)

True. Sir, you may as well not even vote.  Consider yourself useless.

Same with the dweebs in Mass.  You are useless too.  ;)

Like thats any surprise

Who wasnt registered? Mystiq did you say you werent because of your age?

Anyways

Not that its an issue, but its somewhat funny how people feel such a strong desire or need to post who they are voting for (not that its any surprise to us that have been posting here anyway). Does this tell us something about republicans? Or does it not tell us something about Democrats? Im guessing depending on which you are, its obviously one of the two.

Personally i think the voting age should be raised back up to 21. I dont even know why they lowered it in the first place. Kids these days dont fully understand what they are talking about, and depending on how they were brought up, they will obviously vote in an overly biased way.

There are those who (like giga said) believe every word that comes out of Moores mouth, and then there are those on the complete opposite side of the spectrum.

Is it me or has this thread turned more into a shit throwing contest?

Try to tell that to a guy who is being shipped off to Iraq.

You can\'t vote, but you can die in the military.

That is why I asked people not to say who they were voting for ;)  Oh well... I tried.  Anyway, its good to see people registering - it is one thing to bitch about the way things are, it is quite another to bitch and not exercise your right to vote (for those 18 and over of course).

I\'m 17. :(

Raise it back up? So I can be drafted at 18 and then not be allowed to vote until I\'m 21? Doesn\'t sound very fair...

Anyways that\'s the reason they changed it.

IMO, If you are old enough to fight for your country you are old enough to vote and drink.

I disagree with the drinking part - unless of course you are in the military because being in the military requires some self discipline.  We have enough drunk civilian teenagers running around already.

Lower it to 16!

It\'s honestly worth a try at this point with such a low vote % and plus many people are just stupid anyway who don\'t know anything about politics.

Oh no, there\'s no way they should lower the voting age.. nor raise it. 18 is just about right.

Yes and no.
I won\'t vote because both canidates are complete f**kin\' idiots. I would rather Kerry win, but oh well. Not worth my time to vote.

So if the Beave wins and you didn\'t vote, do you have the right to bitch and whine about his policies?

He would probably do it if either won, so im guessing the answer to that would be yes.

I am registered, and I\'ll probably be voting for my local ALP (Labor) repersentative.

I don\'t know what the hell you\'re all talking about, the election date hasn\'t even been set yet!
