Title: woo got me an iPod
Post by: nO-One on August 09, 2004, 03:25:19 PM
Just happy and thought I\'d share, 4th gen 40gigger along with a Griffin iTrip fm transmitter.

Ohh and Doom3, so right now I\'m a happy camper.

:D

Running Doom 3 on your iPod?  That\'s pretty remarkable.  :p

BTW I heard the iTrip FM transmitter is supposed to suck big time.  Get a stereo cable hardwired to your headunit, and you\'ll be much happier.

Ordered myself an Ipod on sunday.  Should be getting here on wednesday.  Only a 20 gig one though.

Welcome to the club on both accounts.  Still happy with my 3rd gen iPod though and I\'ll probably upgrade next year or when the 3rd gen iPods run out and all they can do to replace my current one is to give me a 20gig version of the 4th gen version.  :)

Ipods gives u a huge library to choose from, and u cant scrath the data. But you can bust it up real bad and loose everything....

Got a Rio Karma a while ago and still love it, 20gb of gapless playback and supports all kinds of file types.  Also the Rio DJ kicks ass.

(not an Ipod vs anything comment)

I dont think id ever buy an Ipod. Im not going to pay 500 dollars for a 40 gig or so mp3 player. Ive had a couple mp3 players and with 1 gig i am more than happy. I dont need my entire library with me. I suppose it costs so much because of its size because you can buy a huge HD for less than that. I mean what does it do besides play music? Are you really that lazy to switch out some music every now and then? And when do you even find the time to listen to even a tenth of that thing?

Sure it seems nice but 500 dollars is out of the question.

It\'s expensive because the drive is really small.  Just buy a laptop harddrive and see how much that costs and you\'ll understand why they iPod is so expensive.  One gig of space is fine, but sometimes I prefer variety and carrying that much space with me means I can add new songs or old songs and never have to delete current albums.  But the best part is the fact that I can shuffle my entire drive and who knows what will come up across 15 gigs of music.  That\'s just how I feel about it though as you don\'t have to agree.  It\'s not like anyone is forcing you to buy one or pressuring you into one. :p

I am

BUY AN MP3 PLAYER NOW!!!!

Nonetheless, they kick ass.  I don\'t go anywhere without my Karma, the ability to listen to one of 5000 songs at any time, and have it ready for action in my pocket is kickass.  Also, they kick mucho ass in the gym, if you do that kind of thing....lazy bastard ;)

Yeah...um...I had no idea...those dumb bastards at Apple. They need to have a much better battery than that. This all seems a little over complicated and a waste of money...

See? You really CAN make a difference if you put your mind to it :D

Here\'s another little tidbit Apple doesn\'t want you to know (on iTunes):
Quote
Jobs has one more reason not to be concerned about the competition. "The dirty little secret of all this is there\'s no way to make money on these stores," he says. For every 99¢ Apple gets from your credit card, 65¢ goes straight to the music label. Another quarter or so gets eaten up by distribution costs. At most, Jobs is left with a dime per track, so even $500 million in annual sales would add up to a paltry $50 million profit. Why even bother? "Because we\'re selling iPods," Jobs says, grinning.

I like iTunes but I\'ll never get an iPod.  Not saying it\'s a horrible device, just way too much for what it does imo.

Do you mean iTunes the music retailer, or iTunes the mp3 player application?  I use the player, but I have never purchased a song from them.  I have no interest in a proprietary file format, or the digital rights management BS that goes with it.

iTunes is a good player though.

I said that it was probably because of the small drive. READ. :p And i know that nobody is making my buy it. Its just that so many people have them and are talking about them like its the means to all ends. Of course i would love to have one but just not for that price.

Ill wait.

IMO the third gen iPod looks better than the fourth. Grey plus white; what were they thinking!?

Now why won\'t Apple provide these batteries for purchase on their own site? :D

Cored- I use iTunes to both buy and play music.  I only download singles though, when I don\'t want to buy the entire CD.  For my favorite bands/singers I just get the album.  I agree it makes an excellent player, Apple can really make things stable, sleek, and functional.

Coiwinkiedink no-one!

I purchased myself a 20 GiG Ipod just last night. How the hell are you going to put 40 Gigs of half decent music into that beast...

I like the all white look personally. I think it\'s 3rd generation but I\'m not sure and all I know is I probably won\'t ever have to buy another portable music player in my life.

I\'m putting Madonna songs onto mine. Why? Same reason why P.Diddy using a cancoard as a private jet: because he can.

Well having too little space doesn\'t seem like it will be a problem for me, haven\'t loaded nearly all my music yet and it\'s only at 3gb.

The iTrip ****ing kicks so much ass, while I\'m not getting the bestest hight quality sound ever it\'s more than enough for driving and no cables makes it so much more better.
