Title: Which bands do you HATE?
Post by: THX on August 10, 2004, 02:02:43 PM: In conjunction with Bent\'s thread, I just had to get these off my chest...

Creed - bleeeeh bleehh "yeaaahhhhhrrrrr YEEAAHHHRRRR". Those that also hate the lead singer know what I\'m talking about. He makes his voice all retarded like Pearl Jam to give it some effect. MadTV did a sketch on this, so annoying.

Linkin Park - Also don\'t like the lead singer. Sounds more like he\'s whining than he\'s rocking. Their beats can be nice though.

Good Charlotte - (thanks for reminding me Koppy) They\'re from my area but no one likes em. I had to see them perform live on Conan too. :rolleyes: What a horrible, typical MTV-made band.

Damn I thought I had some more but I have to edit when I think of em again.

Urgh so many bands do this its impossible to list then all.

Every f\'n song is: "She left me, I cried, then I died, then I smoked some pot and went to the drugstore where I saw this hottie and I was like WOW!...:blah::blah::blah:" all the \'lyrics\' are shouted not sang and are mixed in with a whole lot of palm muted power chords and some INCREDIBLY WEAK \'solos\' to flesh out the BS.

Sounds like blues.....jazz.....and uh.....rock.....country. Is there something else other than "pop punk" to distinguish them from the rest of the genre? Coz Vivi\'s right. All music is emotional....except Techno. :p

Damnit. Give me a quasi break. Just take the fact that emo is a name specifically for the pop punk genre with the whiny singers etc. I dont feel like wasting my time trying to explain the reason behind it. Just take it for what it is.

No, emo has been around for decades and only recently has it referred to the mainstream bands that have now been fit into the classification.

And this fashion of emo hasnt been around for that long either. If you can give me an example then ill admit that youre right. You are making up your own definition of emo. Emo reffers specifically to this type of music (like i had said before).
