Title: Everyone satisfied so far?
Post by: PSX_J on August 16, 2004, 09:11:03 AM
Is everyone pleased with your favorite NFL\'s team progression thus far in the pre-season?  My Cowboys played horrable the other night against the Texans due to stupid mistakes but Im not to concerned with how they do this year...Im more concerned with what players seem promising for the future and a saw a few that really look good.

First off, Drew Henson has a freaking rocket of an arm.  Everytime he passes the ball you think he\'s going to break the sound barrier.  This kid has some talent now he just has to develop.  My only complaint with Drew is him giving the ball away in the red-zone not aware that the safety was right there (rookie mistake) and a few of his passes were low.  He fared alot better than Vinnie but I also think Drew got to play more than Vinnie or Romo.  Drew resembles a young Troy Aikman in his appearance on the field.  I really hope this guy comes along or Dallas will be screwed more in the QB situation next year than this year.

Now Rashard Lee is a halfback no one has even heard of.  This guy was outstanding...breaking open for big yardage and really helping progress the ball down field.  He willl complement Julius Jones very well, the reason I say this is because JJ was very oustanding himself.  Long gone is the lack of vision or lack of ability to make tacklers miss that T-ham was troubled with...JJ is the real deal.  I have doubted him all training camp but now I can see that the guy can flat out run. He\'s always moving forward at the same speed, rather he\'s dodging tacklers or not.

Other notables were Antonio Bryant who was making his cuts real well and getting open, Keshawn did good but that was expected, and thin this other guy they brought in to do punt returns..I forgot his name though.

And as for my second favorite team the Texans, I thought Dunte Robinson did a good job covering Keshawn...especially since he\'s a rookie.  And David Carr is just looking more and more oustanding every year.  This guy is going to be a prominent player very soon..watch him.

Ok, what about your teams...what do you like dont like.  How are certain players coming along in you opinion.

As for the Bears.

Offensive and Defensive lines look horrible BUT it looks like we got a sleeping superstar in Thomas Jones.

I\'m also excpecting a big year out of David Terrell.... It\'s about time.

Pennington looked as expected, if he stays healthy, he\'ll do wonders with this offense. Bollinger, the backup QB fumbled twice but oh well... I just hope Pennington doesn\'t get hurt. The Jets\' new defense looks much better too. I\'m actually excited for the beginning of this season, we\'ll see how things go.

With the Niners... I\'d be lying to say I was satisfied with their preseason. I was reading an article by John Clayton from ESPN and he hit it right on the nose, \'nobody will be able to recognize this team\'. I think that Rattay is being underestimated by the public in general. He only has three starts, but I\'ve always watched the guy, and he has that potential to be a solid quarterback, and despite his injury, he is the least of my worries.

I\'m pretty much real excited about this season. Expectations aren\'t too high, so there isn\'t anything to lose. Its a really young squad, and I don\'t think they\'ll be as easily pushed over as many predict them to be.

I didnt see the colts play but I heard good things.

There defense is very young and im hoping for a breakout year that will push them to the superbowl.

Also they have Moorehead who could prove himself helpful as a low-end wide reciever. Im confident he could handle a more full-time roll if stokley goes down.

Its only preseason but Dillon/the defense looked pretty good against the Eagles.

Mike Cloud looked pretty good too but that was against the scrubs.

The Colts need to cover the middle of the field better, but other than that everything looked alright.  I expect Edgerrin James to return to rushing title form (or at least close to it) since hes 100% now.

jake plummer is pissing me off. I didnt see the second game but all he did in the first game was: hike, hold the ball till the pocket collapses, run to the sideline, throw a crappy ball thats either incomplete or intercepted.

But other than that i liked griffin, hearst, anderson, and darius watts. And the defense was pretty solid.

I gotta admit, Rogers and Williams will be the next great WR tandem.

If Harrington doesn\'t do anything this year, with those 2 guys, kiss him goodbye.

HA! Eat that Brady.

i said since the draft that the lions and the bengals will be two huge sleeper teams this season. And i do think harrington is one of the most overrated qb\'s in the game. Everyones giving him a break since he was on a poorly team like the lions. But after seeing him completely choke in the vikings game (down by a TD in the 4th quarter, then chokes and throws 2 INT\'s for TD\'s in a row), i think hell be shown as a mediocre qb and nothing special. But well see how he does.

To the bears fans. They lost Marty Booker for Ogoneley from the dolphins. Doubt thats worth it for the bears.

well i\'m not a lions fan, but i don\'t think they\'re as bad a team as they\'re record shows..if i remember correctly the lions were almost always in every game to the end last year..it just seems that they can\'t close out games...

a premier edge pass rusher is way more special than another possesion reciever with lackluster speed.

Yup, the trade is an awesome one for the bears.

Pennington was 10/11 lat night with almost 140 yards and 1 TD, can\'t look much better than that...

I dunno. Vcize said that without Taylor on the other side, Ogoneley wont be as good as he was with the dolphins. While the dolphins only had chambers and mcmichael to throw to. And when boston is healthy next season theyll be stacked unless they only signed one of them to a one year deal or something.

The colts got owned by the jets.

And Walters is out for the year now with a broken arm. Im not worried about this though, I think Moorehead and Stokley are very good recievers.

Also, I was impressed with the pressure the D-line put on the QB, but the colts secondary needs some work, they didnt  block any passes.

They\'re Defense is very young, and it could really go either way.

You\'re right, the defensive line took a control of a alot of the Jets\'  ofensive clock time by continuously getting to the QB. Dwight Freeny is a monster. I remember watching him at Syracuse and saying how he was going to be an impact player on whatever team he joined, his speed is ridiculous.
