Title: I need a IEEE 1394 driver!
Post by: MPTheory on August 16, 2004, 04:59:48 PM
so, for some reason the drivers for my firewire port just vanished in mid air.  Ive looked for about an hour or two now for a driver and cant find one for the life of me.  Does ayone know where I could find one and/or have one that I could download?

Don\'t assume you have to download drivers.  If it was working before, then you probably still have the driver on your PC.  It\'s just not working right now because of some other problem.  A little simple troubleshooting is called for.

I guess Ill have to do that when I get home...  It said the drivers are missing, so thats why I figured I needed to reinstall them.  The only other thing that I have done to the computer recently (Before I had the problem with the firewire) was take out a wireless PCI card.  I suppose that could have caused the problem also.  Any suggestions?

When you plug your firewire in doesn\'t the plug and play pop up saying you don\'t have drivers?  Can\'t you just get it to install the drivers?  It\'s not like they are special drivers.  They should be in your windows folders or at least on the CD.

Thats what I thought.. But I only get power from the firewire port (If I plug my Ipod in, it will charge it but it doesnt respond).  If I plug my camera in, it says there is a connection, but the computer doesnt respond at all.

Im just gonna stop by best buy on my way home tonight and pick up a firewire board to fill in that empty PCI slot that had the wireless PCI card in it.  Im hoping that might force a fix :)  Now that I think about it though.. I dont think I uninstalled the drivers for the wireless card.. that might be causing som kind of a conflict.
