Kostas Kenteris won gold last year and Katerina Thanou finished second in the 100m last year to what I\'m sure was a doping Marion Jones, and with Jones out I thought Thanou had the 100m sealed up...
I\'m so depressed right now, I had so much hope riding with these guys, and boom, this.
So far I\'m leaning to believe what they said. They seem to be victims of circumstances.
And I also dont like how the olympic committe is all over them but they do very little to Tim Mongomery and Marion Jones, its like they are picking on them

Remind me why you were pulling for them???

A victory against cheaters.. :)
Aaaaaand another victory. SIX weightlifters have tested positive for drugs. This is only the beginning. :)
-
Olympians can\'t even have caffiene in their blood, right? At least a certain amount.
-
Something most news didnt show yesterday after the sprinters made their speech to the journalists someone said that the sprinters asked to have their blood tested to proove they were clean but nobody did a test to them

Well, they have spent the last week in the hospital changing blood.. so if they had nothing to hide, why did they not show up for the first test?
-
If I remember well they said they werent well informed about when the test was going to be.But then again it\'s kind of self-evident that if you dont show up for the test you ll get yourself into trouble anyways. And I am sure they knew that.So I cant say for sure sure they didnt go becuase they wanted to hide something.
On the other hand why did Kenteris say he would stop cooperation with his trainer?
Who knows.Its a strange case.
-
As experienced Olympic atheletes, they should know that it\'s common practice to be tested and they both should have been aware of this. There is no excuse for such an important event. No excuse.
That motorcycle crash? It\'s a red herring.

Not well informed? Its probably one of the most important tests before the Olympic games? Does not compute.
He breaking of with his trainer is just for show.. Soon we will hear "he slipped something into my drink without me knowing it *sniff* *buuhuu*" .. Worked for Ludmila Enqvist, but not the second time.. :D

Seems that way hehe.Too bad many greeks had high expectations for these two athletes.
-
They didn\'t look very injured to me considering they are supposed to have come off a motorcycle.
-
I believe their trainer told them to use dopes, pretend they werent informed as an excuse they wouldnt appear for the test and arrange a fake accident.

He\'s not the wisest man in the world then.

No he is not.A few hours ago in the news they said that they discovered that the trainer was secretely doing tradings of drugs that provide to athletes in the form of food addiitives.

More news on the subject..
Russian Irina Korzhanenko will lose her gold (Shot-putter) after testing positive for a banned steroid.
Robert Fazekas from Hungary will lose his gold medal in discus after tampering with his dope test.
Aleksej Lesnitjij from Belarus has also tested positive for
banned substances. He is a high-jumper and ended last in the qualifying group.
I just hope we will get to keep our two gold medals. :D

I feel extremely sad that Leonidas(greek weight lifter) has lost his bronze medal. He was accused for external use of testosterone but it is so unfair that things look like he was set up. :(
He was negative before he won the medal.A bit afterwards he was found positive of high levels of testosterone.Testosterone doesnt do anything if you take it a few hours before the match and other weightlifters find it illogical for such an action. Then the next day he was found positive.Someone has given him a lemonade witnesses said the day he won and reporters and people came for autographs that day and surrounded him while this is not allowed. And no one has done anything to prevent it.

WHy don\'t they periodically test the athletes over the course of 4 years so we don\'t have to worry about this stuff? Is that too muchh to ask... a random test every 6 months.
-
Specifically weight lifters pass the most tests than any other athlete.
I dont know what kind of tests or when they do to others

They do in most countries. But in some the medals are so important that they secretly accept cheating and have next to no tests.
