I use to hate ps2 till sony got online.
-
i don\'t think the hype will be as big as it was for ps2,. i think everybody has a general idea of what to expect from all three companies next time around,...there will be hype, but i don\'t think anybody is gonna feed into it the way they did for this generation...
-
Holy shit... *squints* Is that... is that... JAGGIES? Wow it\'s been a long time.
-
Any old-schoolers remember this video?
France? PS2 Launch Day (http://gisnetwork.org/funny/euro_ps2.zip) - 14.5mb
This is what I imagine every soccer (err football) game is like. ;)
Ain\'t no way Sony can match the hype of the PS2. And ain\'t no way I\'ll be waiting in line overnight for one again. Learned my lesson. :p
-
I may even wait a while till it has it\'s first price cut. There will be a nice big range of titles available by then too.
-
I didnt know Jaggies still exists
-
No fights, because I have mine preordered.
-
If xbox2 is a flop i\'ll fight for one
-
I waited for ps2 but i got off easy. I came in late and still got one. Luckily the rule from first come first serve got changed into a raffle and i got one. Oh yeah. People were getting rowdy as hell but i dont think i would fight for one. That is unless somebody was trying to jack mine. Then id have to throw down and show them whos boss (and then watch some retard steals it while we\'re fighting).
Ill probably get a ps3 around launch. I dont care about bugs. Ill just buy another one if i need to. That or turn the old one in. Unlike some people, i dont want to wait around while everybody else has one, whether people say the launch games suck or not.
-
Of course it won\'t match the hype of the PS2. The differenence between the PS1 and 2 was so dramatic, you couldn\'t help but be excited for it. The PS3 doesnt seem like a big time system like PS2 is.
-
the reason why ps2 is such a big "must bye" console were of many reasons:
-its graphic
- dvd playback
-psOne playback...
-
I think Ill wait till the price drop. Unless a eye-popping final fantasy comes out before that.
-
Wow jaggies, i used to bash you when you bashed ps2 in the late 2000, so how are you doing?

LOL
How do the PS3 not seem like a \'big time system\'? lol a noob shooting out words and he has no clue what he is talking about.
PS2 was 50 time stronger then PS1, and Sony said PS3 will be up to 1000 x PS2
Smaller jump? Doesnt look like it

Yeah but you don\'t have that dramatic affect like you had with ps2. I mean the graphics on ps2 was a huge leap from psx. Then you had dreamcast dying out at the sametime. And unlike sega microsoft is a stronger company looking to make a name for it\'s system.
PS3 does not have the same effect as ps2 did. I mean ps3 would have to have something huge going for it to exceed the hype of ps3.
-
Everybody knew something big was coming with ps2. Sure the realization of jaggies wasnt as evident as it was after ps2 released screens but that helped to add to the hype. Plus, We had been seeing small increases in bits system by system (8-16-32-64). Thats not even pointing out the fact that we had only seen one true 64 bit system which was only a cartrige based system (allowing the 32 bit ps to have graphics that could compete w/ n64).
So in all reality it really felt like a jump from 32 bit to 128 which was huge. PS2 just got a lot of attention because it was the follow up to the "great" ps1 etc. The whole 128 bit hype, was also followed by all kinds of rumors etc with the "dolphin" and xbox (with those sweet looking tech demos).
In this case, we are just moving from 128 to 256 (which hasnt even really been confirmed yet surprisingly). Sure its a big leap and it fuels some sort of hype, but almost skipping a generation like before just added so much to the pie that today we couldnt possibly match that hype.
-
I\'ll see what the launch games are like. PS2 wasn\'t worth owning until a good 6 months after release.
-
Fine, this "noob"--ya know b/c ive only been playing video games like 13 years now but--will wait and see how big the lines are for the PS3. Like QuDDus said, Microsoft will be realeasing a system just as powerful as the PS3 around the same time so there is no way the hype will live up to PS2, which was alone in it\'s class for a very long time before xbox came to even out the playing field.
-
There will be at least as big different in graphics quality as it was in ps1-ps2.. For one of the biggest grieves on ps2 is the fact that GS has almost identical raster engines as ps1. only several of them in paraller with some memory on the side.
this time it seems there will be much more proggrammability in the pixel pipes compared to the previous generations of hardware..
and in whole consept of computing... If ps3 is based on Cell, which it seems to be. it will be at least intressing piece of silicon as EE was when ps2 came out. (which still in vertex stuff is pretty damn good.. (does some stuff that dx9c can\'t))
:)
-
uhh.. and in the topic.. yup i will get ps3 pretty soon.. im a graphic tech nut.. :)
and i will get xbox2 when it comes too, which seems to be intressing machine this time too..
but cell sounds just...
-
*Nostalgic*
-
*chuckle* :)
-
You :ghey:\'s.
It does sound so.... * * though doesnt it? *sigh:D
I wont get started. Though knowing/hearing all the tech aspects and possibilities of the ps2 did get the blood flowing;).
EDIT: Those damn asterisks wont separate damnit. No matter how far apart i put them. Thats messed up. A man tries to express something and the board just F***s it up.
-
God I hadn\'t seen the word "noob" on this forum in ages. I was hoping that this place matured out of that stage. *sigh*
As for the PS3, I won\'t have the time nor the money to warrant a purchase.
-
Haha true, I don\'t say n00b unless I\'m joking around. Saying someone is a PS3 noob is noobish in of itself. :ghey:
-
too much noob in one post.....head....going to....explode...
-
If there looks to be a shortage (which I expect, it worked out great for Sony last time) then I\'ll be in line. Then turn around and sell it on ebay. With the stack of unplayed games I\'ve got now it would be no problem holding out until PS4 is on the horizon.

Good grief!!
They are all crawling out of the woodwork now. ;)
-
Where the hell is he now?
-
Nope.
Last time I preordered mine in time (they only received like 4 PS2s, I was the second or third on the preorder list).. I plan on doing the same thing again at the same shop.
Lets hope Sony and M/N declare a price war at the beginning so I wont have to pay 4500 SEK again. :p
-
Yup, if it\'s over $250 usd and is NOT backwards compatible I\'d have to be sitting on a lotta doh to convince myself to buy one.
