Yeah, the mach 3. It was a concept in the 90\'s that never made it. Clips man. Chill on the posting man.
Two words: Quality control
and about "elanore": Its not just some old car damnit. Its a Shelby (cobra) GT500 (far sexier than the 350). Must say that the GT500, Boss, and Mach1\'s have generally been my favorite classic stangs.
Just to add - Ill post two cars.
1) 1960 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta

2) 1983-87 Toyota Corolla GTS/ Levin/ Trueno (4AGE Twin Cam)
Though this one is slightly moded.

They are old pictures that i dont have the links to and dont feel like looking for them for your ease of viewing ;). Clips is the one that has no clue :p. Just messin with you.
And i believe that its a "Honda NSX" not the acura version ;). Check the rims. Still a sexy car.
Good pic on "The Judge" GTO viv. Great car but not my fav muscle car by far. I never have favorites but some of my more liked ones happen to be these: (Plymouth) Hemi Cuda (https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.duke.edu%2F%7Ewcp4%2FPictures%2FCars%2FPPHemiCuda4II.jpg&hash=516b372aae75df40eba03577af7c73ebc0a690a3) Dodge Challenger (similar to the Cuda) (https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.c2e.info%2Fimages%2F71challenger.jpg&hash=7bc708fd2741146c7e73479aa446f10c9c299478) And the 69 Camaro SS RT (https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fusers.ev1.net%2F%7Eynot_dv8%2F69camaro%2Fwebsite%2Fgraphics%2FSS_Intro01.jpg&hash=10391e99488dd1657e25426dff1bb3e70176a1bf)

Yeah they are the same car. I really dont like the new NSX design as much (although the type r is fast as hell). I love the old Flip Light design. Now there have been concepts for a new nsx.
You take your pic: Concept (https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.discountpartcenter.com%2Fphotos%2F10-15-03-02-Acura-nsx.jpg&hash=ba8c6b6478d65209d490582bee35ec7d7219aa44) New (https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fourworld.cs.com%2Fakflores12%2FNSX.jpg&hash=694901cbb6ca55f6e247d6232f8d415ed853f9fa) & My favorite - The old NSX (https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hotcarspage.hpg.ig.com.br%2FNSX%2520800x600.jpg&hash=1816fe83822a4a21bc77446a54407bb698638795) (https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fhomepage.ntlworld.com%2Fgary.parson%2Fhonda%2Fnsx%2Fakira3d-nsx-marina-potm.jpg&hash=c560f5d4f31ed927b80261d30691cc980711ac16) 1 just doesnt do it justice. So many cars... So little time.... I\'ll just start by posting my favorite import.
1996 Nissan 300ZX <--- my friend had one of these, perfect conditin, perfect everything. Got it for 6000$ but the guy put over 12,000$ in aftermarket products and had to get rid of it because he desperately needed the money. So my friend gets it and not than in not more than 2 weeks, he totaled it going 140 mph.
Now, my favorite muscle car has gotta be he old Camaro. 1969 is the year. Funny story... My girlfriend used to have a 1969 Chevy Camaro SS, that was in mint condition (red with black racing stripes). It was going to be HER car when she turned 16, but she sold it because she thought it was ugly. So, she got a 2004 Subaru WRX instead. lol.

y\'know back in 01 i was so f**kin close to gettin\' one of these..i found it through the internet at some car dealership in long island. now i went back & forth from jersey to long island trying to negotiate with this cat & they gave me the complete run around..i admit i was acting a little anxious..but that\'s only because it was a 95 supra with only 35,000 miles on it..and these cats was sellin\' it for only 21 thou.. so ypu know i was bustin\' nuts all over the dealership tryin to make the deal...
since the car was old y\'know 6 yrs... i could only get 4 yrs to finance it,..so i was like aight cool...but then they gave me that big -ass interest rate get this..13%! i was heated but he said it\'s like that because of my credit rating..whatever,..you know how us black folk get down with the credit anyway :p
so long story short i accepted the 13% and deal was sealed i was happy as hell as my payments were only 435 a month..yea i know it\'s kinda steep but for that whip i was willing to eat that..so a week later i go to pick up the car..the sales person gonna say "uhm look the bank says we had to raise the interest rate..to 17%!" i was like what? uh uh f**k that we alkready agreed to 13% he stated there was nothing he could do it was the bank..anyway my payments turned into something like 560 or some s**t..of course by then i was like hell no!..so i had to leave that whip..huer as hell because basically the car was still new 35,000 miles on it...:( anyway it looked just like this...damn i turned this into a rant...

Yeah, its amazing how those two (soobs and Evos) can be so sexy in a 4 door layout. The best of both worlds.
Im also a big Datsun/Nissan person, although im into datsun\'s a bit more i think. Especially the Z models. When i was a kid, i really liked the 280zx but ive grown to like the 240 and 260\'s.
280zx (https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fzhome.com%2FZCMnL%2FPICS%2FmembersZs%2FgiderbertMalabute%2F280zx.jpg&hash=2af3f8721f05cb341798eca1e239e31ed7d3a018) (https://psx5central.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nissanperformancemag.com%2Faugust02%2Fzhistory%2Fimages%2F1981_280zx_turbo.jpg&hash=a89dd76581016332884efaa41d87adfd202125e8) The 260\'s life didnt last long and it looks almost identical to the 240. If it gets sideways then its all good in my book :D. I like the early 90\'s Hatchbacks the most (out of the american versions). Otherwise the RPS13 in japan was the best. 2.4L SR20DETT engine (turbo). Yummy

DETT?! Daaaaaamn. Japan\'s cars are so much more faster than the cars that we got. I didn\'t know it had a twin, i thought it was just a single turbo.

I thought so for a second but now that i think about it the SR20\'s only came DET (single turbo). I guess i was thinking skyline for a second. That good ol sexy RB26DETT. It would be nice to twin turbo an SR20 though (if thats possible). Talk about crazy output. That thing would kill just about any tuner around here with the right tuning.

Yea, i was wondering... :D That skyline engine has got a crap ton of output. SR20 with 2 turbo\'s would be crazy. I\'m sure it\'s possible, but you\'d have to do a bunch of other stuff to it to make it fit/work. Any idea what the PSI is set at on a stock Skyline?

New NSX Shelved Honda cans supercar replacement in favour of luxury GT coupe
Honda has canned plans for a replacement for the NSX after a dramatic change of heart, according to sources in Japan. It has been an open secret that Honda was working on a successor to the 15-year-old NSX - the recent HSC show car being a public display of work in progress.
Early indications are that Honda now wants to build a large GT coupe instead of a new NSX. Such a car would compete directly with Mercedes\' highly successful SL and Bentley\'s Continental GT.
The move has come as a shock because Honda president Takeo Fukui had told the press that the NSX programme was on-going, even setting a date of 2005 for the car to be introduced (although Honda insiders privately admitted to it being nearer 2006 or 2007).
Various factors are said to have scuppered the project, according to information received by evo. Firstly, Honda had trouble getting the design of the HSC-based NSX to gel. It had tried a number of styling derivations but in the end the designers couldn\'t finesse the right end result.
Secondly, Honda looked again at the business case for a new NSX. Honda Japan was said to be lukewarm on the HSC-derived NSX and factions in Honda\'s American arm reportedly wanted the money spent on a Boxster rival instead of another expensive, small-volume supercar.
Thirdly, the corporate environment has changed a lot since the mid-\'80s when the NSX was first developed. Honda then was a feisty company where R&D was ruled by strong, charismatic players who were keen on such showcase technology projects. Today, say sources, it\'s much harder to make a case for a new model such as an NSX replacement, despite Honda turning in record profits. Moreover, the NSX has never been much of a commercial success.
We also understand that there\'s no replacement for the S2000 roadster in the future model programme either - but that might be explained by US market requests for a more direct rival to the Porsche Boxster.

My friend... the one who wrecked his Z, well totalled it. He was telling me when he was racing he\'d peel out and just shoot back i in his seat because of the torque. After about 50-60 he\'d peel out again because the turbo\'s would spool up. Thats theraputic sheeit right there.
Oh, and Nicon. Those turbos are huge. But give me a woody. :ghey:

Lucky bastard. Do you know what car its from? s13,14,or15? Im sure they all fit the same. The S15\'s are just more powerful and harder to get (the black top version i think).
I can only dream of getting sideways with an SR20 under the hood of a hatchback 240. But Ill take my 86 any day :D. If only i had the funds. Im obsessed, what can i say. i agree... to my knowledge there is no japanese car that comes out of the factory stock that can whoop a vette..that said tho i feel that the japanese cars are still more polished than american cars. the gap has been closed alot tho..american manufacturers have come a long way since the 85 topaz & 85 escort\'s...uhgh..my mom had an 85 topaz, and let me tell you everytime i was at the stop light i had to throw it in nuetral to keep it running :p
my friend had the same problem with his mom\'s 85 escort. it would be hilarious as we both would be at the stop light reving the engines well above 3500 rpm\'s just to keep it from cutting off :p

I\'ve got an SR20DE but no T. :( I\'ve got a 1992 Nissan Sentra. Slow as crap is all i\'ve got to say. It\'s a great engine though. It\'s still running at 100,000 miles strong. Nothing wrong with it yet. (Knock on wood).

it may be slow but trust you have a good product in nissan. i had a 92 maxima with over 350,000 miles on it,..and the engine was still in decent shape..it was just that my front end was shot...ball bearings,.axle, shocks..everything was just getting too costly to replace..but other than that i had no major problems with it...jap cars last forever..;)

I almost bought a used G20 with the SR20. It\'s a neat little engine, the car had about 150k miles on it but it still ran smooth for a 4-banger.
350k on yor max is awesome, my friend in MD has that much on his 92 now. There\'s a guy on max.org that posted with 560,000 on the clock, lol.

Man, where do you guys get your swaps done (or did you buy it like that)? And for how much. Im sure there is a good enough tuning place here but i think their charging prices for the swap is through the roof.

Ive never heard of that swap before. Thats pretty crazy, though i love the G20. It could be a great tuner car but i guess they dont really make parts for it because ive never seen a real tuner with one. Yeah, it\'s a stock engine buddy. SR20DE is the just the plain ol\' stock engine. SR20DET is what comes in 240\'s that live overseas, or are made overseas. SR20DETT is what comes in a stock Skyline engine. It can also come in the 300ZX\'s engine, if you get the powerful version.

Yeah but i thought you lived here (U.S)? Because here the only engines made for the 240\'s were the KA24E, which was the american version of the CA18DET, and then in 91 the KA24DE. D meant dual cam and of course w/o it was sohc. And the stock R34 engine has always been the RB series engines (im pretty sure it was only the RB26DET) I dont know if they are all standard with a twin. I doubt it. And the 300zx came with a VG30DE (endings vary). ;)
So if you live here then all we have (stock) are KA engines.

Actually the factory engine is a 2.3 liter 4 cylinder, making only 160hp. It\'s absurdly detuned, so I can see how there\'s a possibility of making big power out of that thing with little dollars.
I think this particular car looks ridiculous with those wheels. What are they, 19s, or bigger? Incredibly stupid. Makes the car look like a chuckwagon. The spokes make each wheel look like a jiffy-pop bag.
I like the brakes though. :) The rest of it is sweet.
Title: Hot Car Thread...

a 2.3 at 160 only? Jeez, youre right. Rediculously Detuned is right. The most recent 4AGE engine(99? corolla trueno/levin in japan) gets up to about 160hp at 1.8L 20v and it revs pretty high (8-9000). Come on Toyota. Heh.
BTW Cored - how big are the wheels on your 2000?

Stock wheels on a MY03 S2000 are 16s. I switched to 17s, but that is the absolute largest wheel I would consider on that car. I\'ve seen S2000s with 19s and they look completely idiotic.

They need to tweak out the body more (the rear looks Japanese) but that car still looks like the sexiest thing under $80g\'s.

Im not quite seeing that but since when was that a bad thing. Styling is one thing though. What i generally hate about domestics is their interior. Makes me puke (not all cars of course).
Either way i dont care. The Vette is a great car. 400 horses out of a v8 and still getting 18 city and 28 hwy is incredible.

The new Z06 will make 500hp and about 500 lbs of torque out of a 7 liter LS7 V8, and the entire car will weigh only 3,130 lbs. It will have carbon fiber front fenders and very expensive 19x12" rear tires. (325/30ZR19) Fronts will be only 18x9.5" (275/35ZR18) The rear tires will probably cost around $500 each for replacements, and with this much torque, you better believe you will be replacing them at least every 15K miles.
I believe this car will sell in the $70K range.

y\'know i have a question...and it may seem kinda weird..but i\'m no car expert or anything but i\'ve driven an assortment of different cars..mostly american and japanese..now the question is this..it seems at least to me that the mph or speed varies from these vehicles. what i mean is that i notice a diiference in 60 mph in american cars compared to 60 mph in the japanese joints..
now i know engine noise and other things factor into this which might make me think that just because an engine is reving louder,it\'s going faster...(you cats still with me?)...anyway it just seems that 60 mph in amer. cars is faster than 60 mph in japanese cars i\'ve done alot of comparisons and have come to that conclusion..ignorance?..maybe but to me it feels like 60 mph is slower in the japanese cars...
i mean i think we can all say that this might ring some truth to it? why let\'s take a look at some dashboards..and keep in mind this is only my evaluation of it..but let\'s just take for example the numbers 55 - 65 mph on a dashboard...real quick in some cars it may look like this 55 | 65 etc...in other cars it may look like this.... 55 | 65 etc..see the difference?...in the 2nd example 60 mph is alot closer to 55 and 60 and it is spaced out a little further in the 1st example...
i know i\'m rambling but this is just something i noticed..so is 60 mph the same across the board, or is it does it vary by vehicle?..i tend to believe it does....
*s**t for some reason i can\'t seem to space out 55 and 60...hopefully you guys get my point tho*

Well, logic dictates that 60 mph = 60 mph regardless of the vehicle used. However, the speedometers in mosts cars aren\'t 100% reliable. There\'s a percentage of error - up to 10%. So I guess that if
1) Car A has an accurate speedometer and shows 60 mph 2) Car B has an inaccurate speedometer and also shows 60 mph, but in reality it could be more like 55 mph.
But if this is true, then we\'d have to assume that Japanese cars are less reliable than American cars... something I find a bit hard to swallow. ;)
Anyways, perhaps you\'re just mistaken entirely, rendering this post useless.

thanks for the reply sammy...i know that little evaluation of mine was a bit on the "wtf is he talkin\' bout?" side but i was just wondering not only because of the cars i\'ve driven but also a friend of mine has this late model mustang and the original dash had his speedometer go up to 85 mph...he had that replaced with a speedometer that now reads i think up to 160 mph...and now because he did that, the 55 mph mark is in a totally different area (because of the added mph) got it?...but you\'re right tho i could be completely wrong on this theory...i guess i\'m the only one that thought this...:p

If he replaced his speedometer without any other adjustments (I\'d assume) then the readings would be way off, right? I mean, if 55 isn\'t where 55 used to be, then he wouldn\'t be going 55 anymore even though the speedometer shows it. :p
Title: Hot Car Thread...
Post by: Coredweller on April 04, 2005, 11:47:46 PM
I\'ve heard that most speedometers on factory cars are somewhat inaccurate. They overstate your speed, so it appears you are going faster than you really are. I\'ve heard that on my japanese car, the difference is about 3-4 mph in the 65mph region. The error grows larger the faster you go. Why they do this, I do not know. Perhaps it is to give drivers an extra safety buffer against speed limit enforcement.
Now, one might speculate that domestic automakers do not observe this built-in speedometer error policy. If that\'s true, it might explain what clips is talking about. However, I have no personal experience with that, so I can\'t say for certain that domestic automakers design more accurate speedometers.
Also remember that if you install aftermarket wheels which have a different wheel diameter, that can add a noticable amount of error to the speedometer reading. If you change the final drive gear in your differential, which is a popular modification for some auto enthusiasts, that can have a HUGE impact on your speedo readings. You need to install something like the so-called "yellow box" to correct the speedo back to normal.

yea..i understand what you\'re sayin\' i do know that he had some work done to it tho...well actually alot of work..it\'s barely street legal..not sure if he made adjustments to coincide with the new dash, but if not then yea his readings would definitely be off...

I guess its depends on what cars youre riding in. I know that 60 in my sunbird is different than 60 in the subaru or even my friends saturn. If there really isnt a difference in speed then it could just be the way the car is built/tuned w/e.
Suspension plays a decent role, as well as engine noise etc. My sunbird is so damn loud that when i floor it it just seems like im going sorta fast because it sounds like it. And although the suspension is a bit washy, you can feel a lot which also makes it feel like im going faster.
From my experience, japanese engines dont sound as deep or powerful as american cars. What it is that does that i dont know but any honda, toyota, subaru etc ive been in has the same thing going on. I cant say that the suspension is the same but this could be a problem.
meh.

From Autoblog: 700 horsepower and a killer body, the Maybach Exelero may hint a new high-performance model from the ultra-lux sedan maker. The V-12 coupe is based on the Maybach 57 and designed to test a high-speed tire for the German tire manufacturer Fulda. The Exelero needed to surpass the 188 mph mark for Fulda. The super-Bach can get to 55 mph in 4.4 seconds with the help of two turbochargers and 740 ft-lbs of torque. We were amazed how finished the interior was.

Actually, if you just leave the second layer, you can just use the eraser tool on the top layer and erase around the tail-light area to remove the color that way and then merge it all when you\'re done. But you just taught me something new, so thanks. :D

It doesn\'t help that all the Supras for sale have extremely low mileage. That drives the price up.

They\'re still making them. I don\'t understand how age would make a car less cool. Here\'s a \'67 Chevelle SS:

You see Evi, time works in mysterious ways. When a car is released it\'s cool. After 5 years - still nice but not quite as much. After ten years it\'s not that cool anymore. But if you wait say 30 years it reaches classic status (if it really was cool to begin with and not just a design fad).
EDIT: They stopped making that Supra 5 years ago.

I meant they\'re still making Supras. I believe Lexus has taken over though...but Lexus is still owned by Toyota, I believe.

I dunno what you\'re talking about. The closest think Lexus has to a Supra is the upcoming IS-F, a performance version of the IS-350, but that hasn\'t been released yet. Lexus is also planning a supercar, but that has little connection to the Supra in number of cyliders, price, or target market.
There have been rumors about Toyota resuming production of a newer hybrid Supra, but that is still speculation. Toyota gave up building performance cars years ago when they decided to specialize in boring mass market grocery getters. :(

I guess I\'m saying I disagree. Pickup trucks and SUVs are not "hot." When I see a huge vehicle with heavy wheels like those, the first words that come to mind are "fat" and "slow." But that\'s just me. :)
