From teamxbox forums ( )
PSM August talks PSP\'s Price
It\'s not official but basicly they say that Sony has told them the price would be $150, and say that this price will be official announced (therefore confirmed) by Sony at TGS in September.

Hmm, take it with a grain of salt..
It would be sweet if true, I might just import one then! :D
-
I\'m really looking forward to the PSP. I hope the price is reasonable.
-
Sounds too good to be true
They have to do something though to keep it from being another Wonderswan
-
99.99 would be bitchin
-
99.99 would be in a dream world
-
Thats actually a really decent price

150 is a steal. Well for what it can do. The only things i have a slight problem with with it are the facts that the battery life is short and that the launch lineup isnt incredibly original.
-
I doubt it\'ll be $150. Probably closer to $200. I plan on getting one, but not until there\'s more games I want. If it does everything Sony claims, $200 isn\'t that unreasonable... but I\'d prefer it to be cheaper.

8 hours gaming or 8 hours audio? Makes a big difference.
-
8 hours gaming I think. But dont take too seriously what I am saying becuase I dont remember exactly what was siad in the article. But if I am not mistaken it was about gaming battery life that its actually longer than believed.
But as I said earlier dont take it as a fact.

It\'s 3 hours for anything which requires constant spinning of the disc, which may/will include games.
It all depends on the developers of the games to use the systems RAM efficiently so that it isn\'t constantly reading from the disc. In which case it will last up to a maximum of about 8 hours.
Though, when I play handhelds, I often turn my sound off.. so perhaps that\'ll make it last even longer. :)

Nothing set in stone as far as I know..
The estimated release dates are:
For Japan: End of 2004
USA: Q1 2005
Europe: Q4 2008 :( *
EDIT: Ah, here we go..
Sony has informed publishers, developers and retailers that while it still plans to launch its handheld gaming and entertainment device in Japan this holiday season, the PSP will not hit shelves in North America or Europe until calendar year 2005.
"The reason we pushed it out here is we wanted to be sure there\'s a reasonable amount of software titles to launch with hardware," said Teresa Weaver, a spokesperson for Sony Computer Entertainment.
The system will ship globally before the end of Sony\'s fiscal year (which ends in March 2005).

What I don\'t get is they tie Australia\'s release dates with Europe\'s. We\'re the closest damn country to Japan, but the US gets it before us. MOOOOOO!!!!!

How about you read
the PSP will not hit shelves in North America or Europe until calendar year 2005.
If aus. is tied with europe then it comes close to the same time.
We just have a higher priority.
