SF:AC was released yesterday, hits most stores today... For only $30USD!
It includes Hyper Street Fighter II, which allows you to select from 5 different versions of SF2 characters and pit \'em against eachother, there\'s also 3 soundtrack options for Hyper SF2. And it also includes an arcade perfect port of Street Fighter III: Third Strike... For those of you who may have owned the Dreamcast version, it featured missing frames, so a lot of the combos were either timed differently, or missing completely. All the frames are present in the PS2 port, it\'s all there. Colors are also more true to the arcade version than the DC port.
Also contains a dubbed, slightly censored version of the Street Fighter 2 Anime, and art galleries... All on one DVD!
There\'s also a strategy guide from BradyGames that has very detailed frame data, combos, and uh... Strategies(:p) from top players on the West Coast.

Also includes the OST for Third Strike, I believe. Definitely should pick this up.
So yeah, all this great stuff should hit you for about $50... Go buy!
... Also should note that this title will also be released for the Xbox in January, and it supports LIVE. It\'s a big draw, but you\'ll have to put down some extra cash for an arcade stick or controller converter. ;)

You\'re not my father, you can\'t tell me what to do.
Actually I\'m buying that biznatch today. $30 what a steal! How are the reviews for the Viewtiful Joe PS2? I know it\'s supposed to be easier, and is also $30.
-
THX.....~I~....am your father. Buy yer old man a copy. :D
-
My copy will arrive tomorrow with my free t-shirt (ebgames bust of Ryu is just too stupid looking even for me). I\'ll probably pick up that guide fairly soon though. I hear it\'s actually really well written for a Street Fighter guide from someone who placed like 6th or 7th at some tournament so his opinions on combos and strategies should get you that far if you study them a fair amount and practice like crazy. Still, should be great given that this fixes lots of the problems in the Dreamcast version of 3S.
-
Is it me or was this game released a couple months ago in Europe?

B-but... Arcade perfect Third Strike! Only $30! :(
... At least get it for the \'box so I\'ll have some Psx2C folks to play with online. :(
-
i have the ARCADE version and DC version.. Once the arcade CPS3 is finaly decrypted and emulated... I\'ll have the arcade version itself ;)
-
... Well... I lost completely.
* Nu shakes fist at §ôµÏG®ïñD.
-
But you won\'t have any psx2c friends to play third strike against online as the ps2 version is not online. The Xbox version will be -- in January. This is just not your day for good news, Nu.
-
January is a long way off. We can practice on this before we have the chance to take on the great Ryu and LIC.
-
Finally 3rd strike on ps2. My prayers have been answered.
Though i still might pick it up on the DC.
meh

All depends on how well the netcode is. It\'s my hope that they took what they learned from Capcom vs SNK 2 and are now making it absolutely flawless because if it\'s the same kinda code as that game, then it won\'t be worth playing as parrying is one of the most important factors of SF3:3rd and requires split second timing to perform properly. I guess we\'ll see in January (or September \'05 if their track record holds with XBL enabled titles).
-
Not matter what u play online, it\'s gonna have some kind of ping late response time. Fighters atm just can\'t be played online without problems.
-
Man, I love Street Fighter. I own a lot of those games Souly mentioned. I\'m definately gonna get it, thats uber cheap. IDK how you could pass that up.

If..if..I had broadband..I\'d take Ken..and uhm..stick his foot up all your collective asses.
I don\'t have broadband tho\' - so you can sleep easy.
-
LIC you like anime so by default you are good at Capcom games. But how are you supposed to dload those ub3r l33t lost episodes of kuri-kuri-gushu part XIIIV with 56k????
-
Patience. Lots and lots of patience.
-
pfffft... i\'d kick all your asses..
I can say that, because you can\'t prove me wrong.......... ;)
-
Just like i can say that youre wrong and id whoop all of your asses with a non shoto character. :p
And screw xbox for always getting the online versions of all my precious 2d fighters.

I am good with only the Ryu and Ken shotos -- I suck with Akuma (Gouki), and Sean. In 3S, I am good with Dudley, Yang, Alex, Hugo, and Chun Li. Pretty diverse selection. I\'d learn Makoto, but she\'s my friend\'s bitch so I stay away from her and instead practice on how to defeat her. :p

Heh. Yeah i like Akumas character but i think hes a pussy character of the shotos (his damage is a lot higher and his range of moves is a little more vast. Not to mention the Raging Demon!). I used to use Ryu but now its only ken. Never got into sean but hes interesting. And theres something special about alex and oro that i could have swore i read. maybe not.
Im playing a lot of Alpha 3 and GGX2 right now. So many wasted characters in Alpha3. I only wish they would bring back some of the non shoto people like Karin, Juni etc. Im on the quest to find 3rd strike but its just too rare. Ill either get this or get it online or something.
What they need to do is make a Capcom vs the world with all the capcom characters (2d game of course). That would be nuts. Darkstalkers, rival schools, etc etc. Id be in 7th heaven. I love SF.
-
Damn my friends and I were playing 3s over an hour last night (which was a lot considering one of my bud\'s brought his wife along). We\'re all Alpha players and just never got into the latest one, but we have to say it definitely takes more skill and we were loving it.
Time to take this guide to the pooper room for some heavy reading.
-
Remember to learn your EX moves, your parries, your read parries, and your super cancels. If you want any tips, don\'t hesitate to ask.
-
Good luck, THX. I remember when I made the transition from Alpha to SF3, it was very rewarding when I finally started parrying my friend\'s jump-ins, combos, and Super Arts.
Speaking of parrying: The Arcade version\'s timing is much more strict than the Dreamcast\'s. So I\'m havin\' trouble parrying stuff that was total cake before. The Dual Shock 2\'s D-Pad doesn\'t help either. :(
Time to snag a new arcade stick. Any suggestions?
-
From everything I heard before the PS2 version came out, the DC version was harder because of the frame and data loss. Now everyone is saying differently...
Anyways, I love the DS for fighting games. Took countless hours in Alpha 1 to get used to it, but it\'s perfect for me now. As for arcade stick reccomendations --
Try here at the SRK forums. Great stick creator of MAS. (http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37168)
Or Try here -- yet another custom arcade stick maker. (http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18815)
It\'ll run you about 100 bucks after shipping.
Just post in the thread with a stick request (at least read the thread about the details of course) and the guy will custom make it for you and send you pictures of its progress of completion. All the sticks use MAS parts and whatnot so it\'s the best stuff you can get. Be sure to read the threads though and see the examples of the work they do. They\'re different creators, but they are both great at what they do.
-
Damnit. It deleted my post! Theres a nice Arc stick at the game stop over here but its a bit pricey. And i still havent really made the transition from alpha. After watching the video ryu posted in the doom afterthoughts thread i was on a quest to find it.
I wish they had Guilty Gear XX (X2) tourny videos. Those must be nuts. Roman cancels, burst moves, etc etc. *swoon*
-
Nice links Ryu. I have an original 2-year old MAS and the thing still looks AND works just like new (minus one button I smashed and replaced with another). A very good investment if you like arcade controls for fighting games or old-school side scrollers.
-
I lost interest in playing with arcade sticks and now i just want to whoop some ass at our arcades so i think i might pick one up. That or just go and practice.
Man. Arcades. Talk about oldschool. Arcades have been dead/dying. I remember back when diversions (one of my favorite arcades over here) was so damn hot that it would just be packed. People crowded around machines etc. but it wasnt always so crowded where you couldnt play (though sometimes it is). We would even go in the morning it was that great.
I miss those days:(
-
Yea truly. The big one around here was Gametime Arcade in Alexandria. It was the stereotypical smoke-filled place with a buncha smelly chodes crowding around the machines. But because of this people from that arcade placed 1st & 2nd in the TTT and T4 regional tournaments all over the east coast (from nyc to Florida).
We even had Valle come out here to play our top Capcom players (he pretty much owned the machine). Same goes for that Southern Hills Golfland arcade that spawned all those well-known players on the west coast. Those were the days.
But now Gametime is closed down, as is SHGL in Cali. It\'s just real expensive to maintain an arcade with the controls busting all the time, new monitors, new games, cabinets, etc... Maybe one day online play will pick up where arcades left off.
-
I really thought about investing in an arcade stick not too long ago, but it really won\'t be practical for me until online fighting games become flawless. If SF3 3rd on the XBox is exactly what I\'m hoping it will be (and not what I know it more then likely will be), then I will pick up a mas stick and learn how to use it. There\'s just no comparison between using a controller and using a MAS stick when it comes to serious competition. However, the PS controllers have suited me fine for the past seven or eight years so I really can\'t complain at all.
-
Ryu i know youre the guru of the tourny videos. Do you know of any GGX2 videos or where i might find some? Ive been searching with no results
-
I\'ll look around, but I have to get going right now. I\'ll let you know in a few hours. You can always check out the srk forums to see what you can get.
-
Picked it up.
Played the original street fighter 2 when I was a kid atleast 4 hours a day for over a year. My street fighter skills are now completely gone. :(
-
Man this game is sexy. I forgot how good it was. And the Hyper SF2 game has gallery mode which is pretty neat. I didnt watch the whole thing but i think it has the whole SF2 movie in there. I rule at this game. Heh. Great purchase.
Thank you Ryu.
Though this may be dissapointing, as much as i love this game, i still have a passion for the alphas. There are just differences that make it still appeal to me. Meh.
Now i have them all.
