Title: house plans
Post by: videoholic on September 01, 2004, 12:02:38 PM
Here are the plans we\'ve been working on so far.

It\'s 3300 square feet downstairs.  Then over the back bedrooms will be an 18x35 square foot game room.

I scanned full size plans so it\'s kind of hard to see, but you can get the jist of it.

Is this a current event? ;)

I don\'t see Al Sharpton anywhere in that house!

EDIT:  Moved and nice house btw.

Is there going to be a roof connecting that nice 3 car garage?  2 Study areas!  Wow.

Let\'s be like the rest of the world and be mad at the rich guy!

Looks cool Vid.  The top left study confuses me sorta.  Is it more like a hallway since it connects to stairs, or are those not stairs after all?

Post by: videoholic on September 01, 2004, 01:55:38 PM
IT is kind of a hallway.  But it\'s 7 feet wide.

It\'s essentially an area for me to put the computer and stuff for Logan and whatever else pops out of Lona\'s vagina.

I don\'t want him to have his computer in his bedroom.

What\'s not shown is the great room has a 16 foot sliding glass door.  This wil open out to the back porch which will one day have a pool.  Pool will depend on how well we budget ourselves.

The study by our bedroom is really a room just to keep the bedroom from being right off the great room.  It\'s a decent size though for a desk and a computer or something.

Sorry about posting in the wrong forum.  I\'m an idiot.

Four bedroom house for a three person family? What\'ve you got planned for the future, Vid?

House looks awesome, especially the master bed and bath.

What kinda set up you got planned for the game room?

Congratulations, and be sure to keep it clean.

He\'ll love it until big log gets older and has parties in the game room above where he\'s trying to sleep.

The master bed is on the other end of the house. Unless you think by then the wife will make him sleep in another room.

I\'ve designed four houses now so I guess you could say I know what I\'m doing.  I like the layout, that is if you don\'t mind having your bedroom a million feet away from the kids rooms.  Also,  why is the garage going to open up from the opposite side if you have that much space inbetween the house and garage?  I guess I should be asking where is the road you\'re connecting to.
Title: house plans
Post by: videoholic on September 01, 2004, 04:22:10 PM
Garage isn\'t really there.  It will be about 14 feet or so from the house.  The garage doors are turned away from the road.  That way you don\'t see two big garage doors from the road.

Game room is very large.  I will have a large curtain in the middle.  DUring movies that we don\'t want the wide open room I can draw the heavy curtains closed and have a more intimate theater. Then during football games I can leave it wide open.  We\'ll get an air hockey table and a foozeball table (OR however you spell it)

There is a reason why our bedroom is on the other side of the house.

Logan won\'t always be 3.  There is a good chance he will one day be a teenager and have teenage friends.  I would much rather have them be able to have friends over if I can push them way away.

The home theater is over the kids rooms because of the same reason.  They won\'t be little munchkins forever.

The house will probably be worth about 400k, but it will only cost us about 180-200 to build.

Try building that baby in The Sims first, to see how it looks from a isometric perspective!

Damn a house like that in Pickerington would be $$$$$$$$$.

Other than what I already mentioned I like the house.  It\'s got a real open feel to it.  You\'ve thought plenty about noise and what not.  The only other stupid little thing I noticed, and you might not even set it up this way, between your refrigerator, sink, and oven/stovetop is supposed to make a triangle with a perimeter between 14-22 feet.  Right now that stovetop and sink are pretty far apart.

Almost makes me want to bust out the blueprints to our last project (building a second floor) and the ones for the garage, carport and yard(more like a sitting area) that are being built right now. Though the ones at the house are just so huge that i wouldnt even bother. Unless we have smaller versions somewhere.

Architecture is pretty neat but there are just some things about it that i wouldnt want to deal with. Nice plans though. Whats new and whats not? And is there a second floor?

The stairs by the far bedroom go up to an upstairs area that is the game room he described.

Ah i see. I still cant believe that all that will only set the value into the 400\'s. Seems a little low to me. Then again i dont know the area.

That\'s actually already been changed.  THe stove is pushed down a little bit.  Same counter top, just further down.  Sink and dishwasher are where the stove are.  Refridgerator will be to the right of the sink.  Over the sink will be a window looking out at the breezeway.

WHere the sink is right now will be a small vegetable sink and a tap.  Gotta have my bass on tap.

Oh, you can by one hell of a house in FL for 400k.  This isn\'t San Fransisco.

Seriously? The city doest give us much space to have a crap load of land. Well thats not true, but when somebody in Chicago owns a house on a lot of land then its expensive as hell. I wish i had a picture of this one place a block away from me. Its not too huge and it has really nice yard space, both on the side and in back and its going for at least a million i know that.

I dont remember how many sq feet our house is but im not sure if its as big as your plans, and as things stand im pretty sure the house is at least at 400 if not getting close to 5. I have to ask but i have no idea what the garage (2.5 with 1 car port next to it) etc will do. (we have a carport now thats all torn up to lay new cement. pretty ugly right now).

Well shit you\'ve got things figured out.

Post by: videoholic on September 01, 2004, 05:03:42 PM
The problem I have is that My parents have a lot next to mine.  Their house is 7200 square feet under roof.

The other neighbor is 4500 square feet.

If I don\'t do something dramatic I will look very small.  The design of the house will make it look very large from the road.  Really 3300 square feet isn\'t that big.  Remember, this is a 4 bedroom.  Heck, even the pantry in the thing is 30 square feet.  It will certainly be a fun house.  I just need to scrape some pennies together.

My biggest problem is that I hate my job and desperately want to change.  I may have a hard time financing if I change jobs now.  I\'m some where between a rock and a hardplace on this one.

Wifey just got a little raise though.  That\'s pretty cool.

THere\'s always something that is overlooked.  That\'s why I figured I\'d let you cats look at it.  To see if there is something I hadn\'t thought of.

One thing I want to change also is the 45 degree angle on the back porch.  That needs to be a couple feet bigger to hold a tv set for the outside porch.

Whats the elevation like,  is the deck going to be just right above the ground or what?
Title: house plans
Post by: videoholic on September 01, 2004, 05:31:53 PM
Haven\'t gotten the elevation yet.  The deck will probably be about 10" off the ground.  I don\'t want to have to get a ton of fill to build up the slab for the rest of the house just to get the porch up high.  My property is high and dry so I really want to try and not throw a bunch of money into dirt.  We\'ll see.

I get the elevation plans the end of next week.  Not sure if I\'ll get a copy, but at least I\'ll get to see them.

The chick who is doing the plans is pretty cool.  My dad and I will do a lot of it ourselves.  Like the framing and finish work, etc.  He\'s a stickler for details and I will probably want to kill him by the end of this thing, but oh well.

Your dad is certainly very talented... I\'ve thrown up a few structures in my day... maybe when it\'s in full swing I could take a vay-cay from the wifey and lend a hand...she\'s supposed to go to Portland to visit her dad sometime in the next year....*carresses hammer longingly....

Here in the Bay Area, that house is over a million, easy.  Here\'s a house for reference sake fairly close to what Vid is going after: http://www.marinhomesmarykay.com/SearchPoint/detail.asp?_account=flist&_org_id=bareis&_uid=D64C57D6-EC0F-40AF-B19D-9804E8977FBE-2&_current=1&mls_property_id=20412771

A buddy of mine bought a house in San Jose for 425,000..  It was 1900 square feet with a tiny back yard.  I was freaking shocked.

The noive...

I have a couple pics of my parents house at home.  It\'s freaking huge.  Not many rooms, but the rooms are all very large.

Houses like that in my area go for around the same as Ryu\'s probably, maybe a little more in certain areas. After school I want to come back and live here but I dunno anymore after seeing that. Include the inflation in the five years I\'ll be at school, then another 2 or 3 to get settled with a job, a house that size will cost even more. Blahh, money..
