Title: I got Sims 2. I like it.
Post by: GmanJoe on September 17, 2004, 04:23:31 AM
It\'s truly 3D now and the customization of each Sims is practically infinite. However, my wife is now lost to this game and I\'ll be sleeping alone at night while she plays into the wee mornin\'. :(

Anyone pick this game up yet?

I want it, I don\'t have many PC games.  Hopefully The Sims 2 isn\'t too much of a memory hog, I only got 512 MB.

Nope, my wife played the first one and now the second.  About a year ago I switched all of the Sims in her town to women and made them lesbians.  She wasn\'t amused.

The Sims is fun for all ages and both genders.

Personally I thought the best part of the first game was building the house, though.

Between my friend and I, we had about all the old sims. Simcity, sim town, sim ant, sim copter, Sim City 2000 and sim tower. Man when i first had sim city and town, i had a ball with them.

Its been a long time since ive touched one.

I\'m a.. relative Sim fan. I\'ve built successful cities/towns in SimCity 3000, successful golf courses in the subtle masterpiece Sim Golf (Sid Meier\'s version) and a handful of good households in the Sims.

I also tried my hand at SimCity 4 but gave up after about 3 or 4 tries at making a town. It\'s a slower, harder game than SC3K it seems. I got bankrupted way too easily.. never really profited..

Well, the new Sims are a bit more complex and more fun, IMO. If yer Sim has only learned 2 cooking points, clicking on the fridge will give you a few simple meals like a sammich or TV dinner. More points, more selections like pork chops, speghetti etc.

You can get a female Sim pregnant and it\'ll take about 4 Sim days for her tummy to bulge and pop that baby out! And yes, your Sim does age. :D

You can turn off aging if you want.  Also if you neglect your teenage sims they become sociopaths like Quddus.

I\'ve got that, it\'s fairly easy. The temptation is to build quicker than your finances allow. For the immediate beginning of the game, you just whack down shit loads of low density zones in all 3 tyoes, hook them up to a power supply, then hit fast forward for a bit.

The hard(er) part is later on in the game when you have to balance the funding for all the services like the police, fire, roads, hospitals etc, but even that is not too hard.

I made the mistake of trying to lay down high density zones from the beginning for the first few attempts, and they never developed. Plus they ate up all the money.

never liked games like the sims and sim city unless all the cheats are on - infinte money etc, even then all i like doing is desiging the houses, cities etc.

Mine runs fine on my system. And it\'s a 1.4 gHz with an ATI 7500 card. However, the mother board has about 1 gig of RAM.

it runs on my Laptop and framerate takes a little bit of a hit, but not too much.  Although the graphics are comparable to N64 when I play the same game on my PC at home.
