Reason I mentioned the price is because if anything everyone was thinking there would be a price drop for the holiday season.  Still may be too soon to know for sure.

Good idea however I just think it\'s stupid for current ps2 owners to buy these, but I know people will.

Oh yeah :)...spam...*cough* Well I think it\'s a great idea. I wouldn\'t buy it though, as I already have a PS2. People who own more than one and have them in the same area are a little strange...(my friend has 2 in his living room, and they both work). I guess he\'ll probably be getting this one too

I don\'t think the PS2 really needs to be any smaller...I think Microsoft should focus more on the this...maybe making the Xbox at least 9 times smaller...then it\'d ALMOST be as small as the GameCube and PS2...

a lot of olders ps2\'s won\'t play the type of disc that GTA:SA will come on.  A dual-layer 9 GB DVD.  EA had tons of problems with people returning their Collectors editions  of madden \'05 and getting the regular version cause the collectors edition was dual layered.

I can see a similar thing happening with San Andreas.  People will buy another ps2 if theirs can\'t play it, it\'s as simple as that.

I had no idea they were doing that yet. That doesn\'t seem like the brightest idea to me, making a game that\'s only playable on select newer version of the PS2. If this is true, I won\'t be able to play GTA, as I have the first PS2 version that came out, and mine still works great.

I don\'t want to have to resort to buying a whole new PS2. GTA just isn\'t worth it to me that much.

this reminds me of a smaller version of the turbo duo..:p  and if it\'s smaller..it has to be lighter than my ps2..sheeit what did they take out to make it smaller yet still perform like the larger ps2? i think it\'s too small...meh i said the same thing about the cube...

I guess they have an outboard power supply attached to the AC cord, similar to Gamecube\'s.  Not a big fan of those but if it cuts down on size that much I won\'t put up a fuss.

Perfect timing. But I do have a problem with the lack of internal HD support. I suppose it\'ll utilize a USB connection.

My HDLoader is the best purchase for a PS2 evAr! I have two extra copies. :D

Too sexy for its own good.

Im going to get one on release-day.. My PS2 is three years old, while it still works the startup time when loading a game has gotten longer.
Also, ever since GameCube I am a fan of the good old load top loading should make the PS2-2 (:p ) as quite as a mouse.

So, perfect timing.  :)

If it can then consider yourself lucky.  I believe most older ps2s will be fine, I have no idea how many will have problems though.  Seemed like 1/4 of the people who had an older ps2 had problems with the DVD 9 disc madden CE came on.

So again, most people with older ps2\'s should be fine.

Fear not.. The PS2 HDD would not make it out in Europe anyways.. Unless you are using HDLoader? ;)

Btw, I read on Gamereactor that Sony is releasing a 64MB Memory-card to "compensate" the missing HDD.. So you will still be able to download online updates (I know SOCOM 2 will have online updates).

I\'ve already made some plans for the new PS2.. If I use the Vertical Stand with the new PS2, perhaps I can fit my decoder next to the tv so it wont have to sit on top of the DVD (=it gets quite warm underneath the decoder, and even more when the DVD is playing.).

Besides, isn\'t the under 18 crowd the ones who want to play the game the most?

well if they had a gta bundle and a non gta bundled system they would have two different prices, and that would somewhat defeat the purpouse of a bundled game.  I could be wrong, but I just don\'t see a GTA SA bundle coming out.

Yeah i didnt think about that. Why would they offter a vertical stand with a pop top console? I mean i guess people were having problems with the ejection system and the poptop is also cheaper. Oh well. If you like it you like it and vice versa.

I like it, but not if I have to take it from where I have it standing and turn it sideways to load a game. In my set up, having the PS2 on edge lets me tuck it in a tight space by the tv. This new design won\'t lend itself to that...

It\'s no big deal, the thing is still sharp, but for me I\'m better off hoping they drop the price on the clunky one... if it\'s still available when I go to buy it.
